I thought it was alright. Its not the best, but some of the shit that happens is lol worthy. Could be in large part because I find Danny Mcbride funny.

Just finished watching American Vandal. I didn't expect it to be that good. I really hope it gets a second season.

Looking for new things to watch all the time.

The Handmaid's Tale had an excellent pilot. It seems to be doing the original book great justice so far--there's so much subtle horror there.

Currently trying out Äkta människor (Real Humans), a Swedish sci-fi series. It's not as actiony as Almost Human, which was pretty great, and I wouldn't ever put it anywhere close to Westworld or Person of Interest, but it's a nice slow burn series about the growing integration of AIs in present day society with the usual "some AIs don't want to serve" premise.

I also highly recommend Netflix's Dramaworld if you're a fan of Korean dramas. It's a Korean-American collaboration (has subtitles for the Korean bits) and is a completely awesome parody of all Kdrama tropes. The protagonist is the daughter character from Santa Clarita Diet.

Thinking about starting this. You got anymore details on this other than what I can read on IMDB? It looks interesting. I kind of like slow burn sci-fi to an extent.

    Anyone watching Salvation?

It's so gloriously retarded. The premise is pretty much: A giant asteroid is coming and now the US, Russia, Elon Musk type and mysterious hacker group is trying to out save the world each other.

It's surprisingly well acted for such a terrible idea. I can't look away.

I'm three episodes in so far and... I guess you could say it's character-focused, particularly in the sense that you see how characters love/hate the AIs ("hubots") and how their viewpoints change (for some of them). There are some groups whose intentions aren't that clear (other than them having a general goal that doesn't really take them anymore concrete), while for others, their plots are pretty slice of life (the grandpa with the hubot he doesn't want to throw away, for instance). I'm mostly watching this for the novelty of it supposedly being one of the "really good Swedish series".

Also, the AIs here don't have the whole "oh my god they seem almost human" quality that Westworld interjects perfectly. They really seem like life-sized Barbie dolls a lot of the time. I was told by a native speaker that the hubots tend to speak quite formally, which also sets them apart.

I've been told that there are twists I won't see coming, but I think there are a few that seem fairly obvious. We'll see.

It's... different from American-generated AI series, I'll give you that. Doesn't quite have the poetry/beauty of things like Westworld, but it's definitely charming and worth a try.

I'm actually watching it and the scripts are awful with unbelievable character types and inter personal problems.

But I consider the show interesting from a meta layer because a lot US TV shows are there to define agendas, reveal certain things and pre-program the population.

So I'm wondering what parts in this particular show were put in it to for what reasons and there are a lot juicy things which make you wonder how that slipped through on a prime tv show during the latest form of PC hysteria.

    Just think about it
    ---
In this show the US government attacked Russia with a small guided asteroid using it like the "Rods of Gods" weapon system and make it look like an accident.

They openly show an US Deep State in action taking over the WH. We see "ex?" CIA Daddy as a head of a "private" CIA cleaning crew doing all kinds of dirty ops when needed for his daughter. We see high-level US government people send killers out to silence US citizen. We see that the US government would hide and guide an ELE for their benefit. On top of all this Russia in this show looks like the actual rational player compared to psychopaths united in DC which is completely the opposite of the current media's agenda.

Did the CIA/Military censors sleep or what's going on here?:)

Military censorship only kicks in if a show wants gear from them.

And of course the bad guys are American. That is a common theme, since the end of the cold war there aren't any external threats credible enough for these type of shows. Unless you want to turn terrorists into freeking hydra a la homeland.

I highly recommend The Leftovers, an HBO three season series. It's very well made but filled with questioning/religious undertones.

I myself am not religious, but the show and its direction is certainly unique and well made.

On the other hand, I'm really enjoying The Gifted.

About a year and change too late, but I've finally started 13 Reasons Why and I'm honestly not sure if it's the best or worse thing I've ever seen.

It's super interesting at times, but then just goes full stupidity for another twenty minutes.

The family and I are really enjoying it, actually. It's got a small bit of cringe to it at certain points, and is about as predictable as most newly-formed comic shows, but they're making a pretty good show of it. Two of the actors/characters are absolute standouts compared to the rest, but overall it just feels like it works.

Of course, it's fox, so it'll probably only be one season, while the fuckshow that is Empire will get 1000% of their promo budget.

Would you recommend it? Or is it just an enjoyable time waster?

And I heavily suggest Mindhunters from Netflix. That show is just...wow. It's really good. If you like something like True Detective S1, you'll like Mindhunters too.

I'm actually interested enough to watch it every week, the day after it airs. I figure if I like something enough to not wait for enough to build up and binge, I can recommend it. :)

It's definitely watchable. Not as good as Legion, but it feels more like x-men. Also, Polaris.

Just binged Legion, must say, it was pretty damn good. I really loved the confused perspective from David's PoV at the start. The directing was of excellent quality.
