Really missing weapon rolls. I've reached a point where my characters are all maxed, I have all the mods I want on my gear, I have all of the weapons/armor that I wanted - even those from trials and the raid... And there just isnt a reason for me to do anything anymore beyond simply enjoying it.

Max light so milestones are pointless, have all the raid gear so why put myself through it again?

I mean, I'm still doing all of it...

But I miss the weapon rolls from D1, they gave me a reason to keep playing - always hoping to find that godrolled weapon. And even if you werent aiming for something specific, you never knew when you'd find some random gun with a crazy roll on it.

I'll keep playing because I enjoy the activities, but I'd like to have something to collect or progress towards.

This marks the second reset in a row that I've missed... and I don't care. I'm not sure what it was that this game was missing, but perhaps it simply that there's not actually all that much to do. You can grind as much as you want, but to what point? The content that you grind for isn't that fun, and the grind itself isn't that fun. The equipment system is pretty much worthless, and it's a far cry from other actual RPGs. Like, grinding an hour to raise the light level on my MIDA by one so I hit the next unmodded light level so public events now drop a single higher level of gear, while also hoping RNG to give me some exotics, and the transferring the gear over to a secondary character to do the same thing, repeat to infinity... I'm glad I really didn't put that much time into the game. It's missing the spark that makes a good game truly great. Like, if you break down what the game is trying to do into its core components, it fails on ever comparison. As an FPS, it's quite lacking. As an RPG, it's quite lacking. As an MMO, it's quite lacking. Like, it should have something to identify itself with. Instead it's just a worse version of a lot of preexisting games.

I think the game has always failed hard as an rpg. There's no progression in terms of strength insomuch gearing has always just been an arbitrary number. I don't ever feel like I'm getting more powerful and that seems to be the same in this game.

The incredibly basic/nonexistant class customisation is another nail. How you go backwards from the original boggles my fucking mind.

I feel like this game desperately needs to go the way of Diablo for me to get interested. Scrap pvp - and thus any need for balance - and make it an actual rpg with proper progression and customization...

    ...

I may have also spent a not insignificant amount of my gaming money on gatchas so i need to cut games out of my todo list...

The game has an identity crisis, Bungie doesn't know what they want to make. PVP is going one way, pve is going the other and they're hurting each other in the process.

It's actually crazy to me how many steps back they've taken from D1. I could write an essay about what's wrong with this game.

The biggest problem imo is Bungie's insistence to keep everything the same between pve and PVP. It's hurt the game countless of times and they've gimped almost every mechanic in D2 for the sake of "balance."

What they made is a dull and lifeless game that's not even balanced.

And at the end of all that, after taking PVP so seriously and making so many design changes for its sake, they launched the game in this state: there are 2 playlists, you can't choose the game mode you want to play, there is no dedicated servers, no private or custom matches, matchmaking is a mess, spawning is completely broken, the tick rate is aweful and there are no leaderboards or ranks or seasons.

PS: in regards to gatcha games. I started my FGO account with 2 5* in the first week but as soon as I saw Mordred and Ishtar in Japan I knew I would spend all the money. Thank God I saved myself the misery

This game would be a lot more fun to me, If I had a group of people with whom to do nightfalls and raids. I'm stuck at 280light, but as much as killing and wandering goes. I much prefer to do and game content. PVE is what hooked me into wow for 11years. (2004-2015)

And I really enjoyed Destiny 1 raids. I'd love to visit those of this game in person. And not watch someone else do it on twitch.

If youre on Xbox I'd suggest checking out the game hub for Destiny and then going to Looking For Group. You'll find people just like yourself, who are looking to find players to round out their group.

It can be pretty hit or miss, but almost every one of the people that I play with regularly I originally met through LFG.

If you're not on Xbox then there are sites that serve the same function. In fact, if you just search "LFG" in google, the first few results are all for Destiny.

So just started this on PC and I am loving it, the only aspect that I am disappointed in is the multiplayer in world, and that's more player driven than any fault of Bungies. I like participating in events etc but no one talks, text or voice, which is a bit disappointing. It's really just like playing with smart AI, although not always that smart...

Even trying to find a co-op group for questing is relatively hard. I've read the above posts but I'm just talking about in game. I wish there was some way I could form a group and quest and I would auto-join someone else who is interested in grouping and starting the same quest, or they could join me. Maybe there is? I haven't found it.

Bear in mind everything I am talking about is just from a noob leveling perspective, I haven't even hit 20 on a toon yet and never played the original Destiny.

Overall before reaching end-game its relatively fun once you get out of the first tutorial missions etc, I found it a slow start to game, too slow even tutorial wise. Sure it built the atmosphere but I just wanted to get into the meat of the game.

As an old Halo fanboy I see massive resemblance in a lot of the design, and that's not a complaint. I am really enjoying the leveling experience atm.

I did the start missions for Hunter but ended up changing because when I checked the roster in the main hub there was about 90% hunters to everything else at the time I was zoned in. Playing Warlock now and it's pretty fun and imo seems overpowered PvE wise. Place a healing well and stand and deliver, boom boom pow. Two warlocks for heals+dmg buff? Can't wait. I am keen for Templar or whatever the tank class is called, will probably play one of those when my mate gets on this weekend.

Overall a great experience so far.

Tank class is titan. It's pretty fun, and overall, playing recovery/resilience is awesome. Especially if you enjoy punching mobs in the face. Overshield, faster punching rate, instant self heal. Barrier with instant reload, smashing group in the face with shoulder charge.

Yeah, it's my favorite class and it show. C.F.

But it's also great for those like me who suck at aiming but are great when opponent are in melee.

    That's entirely Bungie's fault though...

The entire game is built around discouraging players from communicating. There's no zone chat, there's no local chat, whispers are automatically disabled, voice coms are shit all around and only work within fireteams and you have to go out of your way to enable it in the first place. Hell, there's not even a clan chat.

The game is dogshit at communication and coordination, and there's fuck-all players can actually do about it.

Other than that, my experience largely reflects yours. I enjoyed it quite a bit until I finished the story and did all the sidequests and stuff. But then I hit the endgame and it all immediately dried up. The only things left to do are the weeklies, which can be done in maybe two hours at most, then spamming public events until your eyes bleed. I'm rather quickly tiring of all that, which isn't helped any by the fact that there's 6 or 7 different public events copy-pasted over and over again. They're really going to need to bring out new content, and fairly quickly, to keep even a fraction of the playerbase they started with.

Ok, then I'll ask a more specific question. Do you all think there is going to be a massive player count dip in the coming months and that Destiny will have player count issues (on PC at least)? That's my largest concern with this game, and really any PC game in general as PC gamers aren't usually as devoted to a singular game (disregarding CS:GO and MOBAs).

I expect we're going to see the player count remain mostly stable until after the first raid is released this coming week (either Tuesday or Wednesday, last I heard they hadn't announced a date). Depending on how that's received and how much content is involved with it, I expect there to be a fairly significant drop off in players over the next couple of weeks, then the drop-off slowing to a trickle as people get bored of doing the same 6 public events ad nauseum.

It's entirely possible there's gonna be some content releases that make me wrong; honestly, I really hope there is, I really do like the core gameplay loop. But it needs to happen and it needs to happen fairly quickly to keep the playerbase engaged and actually playing the game.

That's true for console too, no? The drop-off as content is farmed?

That's a lot of what I'm basing it on; the console drop-off was pretty steep. Bungie has a chance to fix it on PC, and I imagine the fact that the raid is released a week instead of a month later is going to mitigate that drop-off somewhat. They've just gotta get do something like adding more public events or making adventures give better rewards or something to keep people engaged in between weekly events.

The most recent This Week at Bungie had a lot of promising stuff in it in regards to fixing the game's issues. Guess it just comes down to how long it'll take them.

Well one patch is coming to PC on Nov 2nd and I can't wait for it.
    • Hotfix 1.0.6.1 PC is fixing clan rosters and PC performance degradation
I'm playing at everything maxed 1440p drawing 100+ stable fps and it felt like it was outputting only 10 fps. If I launched the game from the Europe region instead of NA via the Battle.net app it would solve all fps issues. It was a weird work around involving which region your clan was based in and launching from the opposite region.
