That habit of including comments on the fic in the summary has popped up in a few different stories and it puts me off every time.

It's annoying, I grant you, but it's no "author has a conversation with a character", which was the true sign to simply close that particular tab. I can deal with some self-indulgence and bragging.

Yeah, who does that. Pfft. Glad there's no one on DLP who would do that sort of thing.

It’s actually pretty decent. The writing is, overall, technically correct and of decent quality.

It’s been a long time since I read it, but it’s a pretty standard Robb/Margaery that is simply done well. By virtue of the pairing, it is quite obviously a stark wank, and so is almost entirely predictable, as far as how canon events proceed or not and the resulting changes. The biggest problem I have with the entire fic is
the extremely contrived plot with Ned. I just don’t really even see the point in it.. for that matter, I’m not a terribly big fan of how it all is ending.

If you want Robb Stark popcorn, Kingdoms at War is a fine dealer fic to get it from.

I think it's impressive to have a near 700k word ASOIAF story and not have one of them be a Sam or Jon chapter and just say fuck the whole idea of the Wall.

There's actually mention of trouble at the war in the last chapter I believe.

'And, The Giant Awoke.' Also known as, 'Tyrion Lannister, Fuck Yeah'. Tyrion fights the Mountain himself and kill him through trickery and pants shitting fear. It's a bit of a wank fic, but still entertaining enough.

It's basically an indyHarry story in spirit, with hyper-competent Tyrion defeating the mountain, going to Bravos, getting rich by being super clever and inventing shit, stomping everyone, assembling a cool crew, making friends with Arya and returning to kick ass and reconcile. It's a Tyrion wank story but honestly, it's a fun guilty pleasure to waste an hour or two. It never tries to be an ASOIAF story and knows what it is from the get-go.

Holy shit Kingdoms at war is long. After it was mentioned above I started reading and only just finished.

I was very sceptical of it at first. Character conversations were cheesy and voices were OOC. This improves shortly after the Tyrells travel to Riverrun and keeps improving throughout the story.

It's Robb Stark wank at its finest but it's good wank and sometimes it's just nice to read a Westeros where things don't immediately fall to shit for everyone.

    You know.

    Just as a break.

Scream Against the Storm just updated. It’s Perfidious Albion’s “What if Stannis was Euron Crow’s Eye” piece.

If you haven’t started it, do so. It’s fucking awesome.

It was already discussed a few pages back, but basically, instead of Euron becoming Bloodraven’s first apprentice, it is Stannis. Basically, take Euron, mix in lots of Stannis’ personality and make him a Baratheon, and you have it.

The story starts in their childhood and we are currently at the rebellion.
Stannis just used Renly as a sacrifice to destroy the Redwyne fleet. Tossed him off the top of Storm’s End.

I'm very confused about the whole concept. What do Bloodraven and Euron have to do with each other at all? They both have one eye but isn't that all?

It's a fairly commonly believed theory that Euron was Bloodraven's apprentice before Bran, or that at least they had some measure of contact. Some people think he's still actively working for Bloodraven too, while others think they're on opposite sides. Beyond all the textual similarities about the eye, I think the main hint is that Euron tells Victarion that when he was young he had a dream that he could fly, just like Bran.

I disagree. The scene between Robert and Stannis came off as very contrived.

There's likely a connection between the two, but the author of that piece is assuming a bunch of theories wholesale, including some wacky interpretations of how magic works in the series. It's fanfiction built on fanfiction.

The Realms of the First Men by Belschaft is a really good read on AH.

It's pretty well thought out and does a good job of covering all the pesky world building Martin never bothered with.

Dunno about that. His use of Slavic imagery for this different North really rubs me the wrong way.
