The best moment in the film and there are people who think it's a technical defect. Jesus...

If there is precedent, I suppose that makes a bit more sense, then. Still, context clues and all that…

Regarding the scene itself, with the benefit of two weeks of reflection, I am also of the opinion that it is the best thing to come out of TLJ.
I’m going to see the film again on Saturday. With the family, this time, so I am really interested in finding out how good (or bad) of a job they did in translating & delivering Sassy Luke‘s lines from English to German.

    Saw it yesterday.

I understand why Mark Hamill had a problem with Luke's part. After decades of building up Luke in the EU as the very best the Jedi could ever offer, they character assassinate him. If they didn't want to use the EU, fine. But bringing him to the point where he was going to gank his own nephew, with little thought being put into the process, was ridiculous.

Poe part sucked balls in this movie.

Hux could not rise as far as he did in the First Order and be that incredibly stupid. Either that or he was blowing Snoke behind the scenes.

I had no problems with anything else. It's Star Wars. If you want Oscar winning performances, script, etc. then you've come to the wrong franchise. As with all the rest of the movies and a good number of stories, you have an improbable plot, an OP'd main character/s that pulls stuff out of their ass to save the day, and lots of annoying inserts so toys can be sold.

4\5 - It had its problems, but I was entertained. Would see again and buy the DVD.

On my right sat the greatest fan of SW ever. I swear, the dude laughed and cheered at every fucking scene. A few seats to the left, the greatest nitpicker. Nothing escaped him; not the ship designs, nor Rey and certainly not Luke (he had a point there though). Also, me and my friends got hit by a rainstorm on our way to the movie. We watched the movie barefoot because our shoes and socks were fucking drenched. This happened to me when I went to watch Doctor Strange too. Better embarrassed than sick I guess.

The movie was pretty good. I didn't really care much for Rey or Kylo but the rest made up for that. I would give it a 4/5.

Alright. For those who care, German Luke is quite good, but obviously can‘t quite reach the original version. On a more general level, the German voice actors have done a fine job, with Snoke being the best of the bunch & Leia’s voice being the worst fit while still operating soundly on the technical level. On the other hand, it would take quite a bit to do Carrie Fisher justice.

One thing I really noticed upon second viewing is how long the film is. Watching the final edit more than once might have helped the people responsible mend some of the pacing & subplot issues…

Pretty much all the other flaws TLJ has have been mentioned multiple times, so I am not going to retread those. It’s still enjoyable enough, and I‘ll definitely buy and watch the Blu-ray, but there will be times when I‘ll be looking at my tablet rather than the tv screen.

I watched it today. Stunning visuals and audio, as was expected.

The story itself however left me disappointed. I was only really invested in Rey's story; didn't care for the other characters at all. Too little of light sabers; too many jokes. Space-survivor Lea was just strange.

What hit me the most was the realization that I just can't take Kylo serious. He looks as if he's always just on the verge of crying.

    7,5/10. Probably wouldn't watch again.

I really expected them to kill Lea off in that scene and when they didn't, I was really surprised and on edge for the rest of the movie waiting for that to happen.

On the Kylo part, he reminds me severely of Anakin in the prequels. I can't stand him.

Watched it again today, a few changes from my earlier review, but can't put it over the 7-7.5 mark still. Am also glad that they didn't actually kill Leia off on the bridge, the Leia-Luke scene is probably my favourite.

After finally watching this cringeworthy bad movie of a bizarro SW universe I came to the conclusion that an one armed bartender is now pretending to be a Sith "Lord". Sounds almost like a fan fiction plot somebody twisted has already written in their closet/FF.

I would preferred Darth Jar Jar Binks any day.

P.S. For the readers who don't get the association watch "Logan Lucky".

They really messed up Luke for me. This was not what I was expecting from the character. Also his death. WTH? Why do it so similar to New Hope and Obi Wan?

Hux was too idiotic as a general. Seriously. This was not a movie for children.

I loved the way Snoke was killed though. Just laughed my head off in the theatre when that happened.

Finally saw this today. I echo the sentiment of everyone who thought this movie was an abomination, for a variety of reasons.

But the part that really got me was, why the fuck are they using GRAVITY POWERED bombs in space combat... And why the fuck is the release mechanism a garage door clicker... I don't expect things to be perfect, but that's just embarrassingly bad. Also artillery lasers with parabolic trajectories (again, in space...)....

The bending turbolasers could simply be an artifact of an accelerating reference frame. They’re not of course, but maybe it will help to think of them that way.

Bombers that fire gavity-launched bombs are already canon in Star Wars, what are you whinging about?

Turbolasers aren't actually lasers, anyway, so they can do as they like. There are loads of bs justifications they could invent, so just accept that the visual looked good and move on.

Iirc in Star Wars 'lasers' are actually packets of gas charged with energy.

It turned you into an alcoholic? A drug addict?

I mean, from what I gather, the movie is a rolling dumpster fire, but don't let it ruin your life.

As a movie, it had plenty of unecessary and cringy choices, but it was a fun movie if almost as unoriginal as FA. As a Star Wars movie, it failed in many many different levels. Ben Swolo, however, was by far the best character, quite a good, interesting villain and everything Anakin wasn't in the prequels.

Finn/Rose's plot was awful, cringy, unecessary (only thing they did was make shit worse), full of stupid stupid moments and it's conclusion was 'I hate sand' retarded. Oh, and EVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL CAPITALISM message in a Disney movie always gets my jollies off.

It's so ironic considering how Disney acted in the 40s.
