Something else pretty darn good: Sword Art Online Abridged.

They've covered the entire first arc so far, 11 episodes. Some people consider it to be even better than DBZ Abridged. While DBZ Abridged took a good show and condensed it with some added humor, SAO Abridged takes a terrible show and turns it into an amazing show. It takes the original show and beats it until it works. Characters are actually intelligent, everyone down to the most minor side characters are given unique personalities and quirks, and Kirito goes from 'Self-Insertable Good-Guy Cardboard Cutout with Leet Skills' to (to quote a reviewer) "an overconfident dick bag with a superiority complex who sees the suffering of lesser players as a source of entertainment" and who goes through an actual character arc through which he changes and betters as a person. Entire arcs get re-written to actually make sense, and we get an actual satisfying ending.

    5/5.

@DrSarcasm, thank you for posting that, this is fantastic. Voice acting is great, writing is genuinely funny and it cuts out a lot of shit that makes the original series drag like a leather sack on melting tarmac. Some of the jokes are honestly laugh out loud.

I've only really known Sword Art Online from secondhand sources, but that series was pretty good.

SAOA is probably the best Abridged series handsdown. It could easily stand on its own feet as an actual anime series.

LMFAO I CANT EVEN THE ENDING SCENE. It's kind of devastating how much more I enjoyed that ending over the original. Guess we know the true evil of our times ladies and gentlemen,
    all hail Metacritic.

Welp i just bing watched SAO Abriged and it's great and all if a bit overrated , i think people focus on how much the original series were bad and by comparison it's very easy for the show to look god-tier
For exemple I do like how they handled Kirito's character but i do not think it's particularly original , the reason i like it is because in the anime (iirc) Kirito is just a gary sue
So for me TFS' work with Dragon Ball z still stands as the best abridged series

On a related note man the youtube comments on these series are annoying ; just constant spoilers of the episode/jokes

Anyone interested in making an abridged DBGT series? I'm thinking about editing and voicing the male cast of the GT Saga, but my high tones are too low so I need a female voice. I can create a composite from my own voice, but that'd a pain in the ass and goddamned waste of time.

So, anyone interested in voicing a chick or a child? Cause I would, but I can't, unfortunately.

Unfortunately I don't have a microphone right now and the few times I've tried flexing my vocal chords, I can't pull off a decent female, so I'm out. Good luck if you do decide to go forward, it'd be a neat idea. (And also I had to google 'DBGT' to find out what series you were even talking about abridging, so...)

Episode 12 actually, and I'll admit that was a bit more painful to sit through than I remember the series being. Still hyped though that they're going forward.

    You're right, my bad.

Yeah, it wasn't that good. I'm gonna assume they haven't lost their sense of humor and this was on purpose to juxtapose against what happens inside VR.

I've got two recommendations for abridged series. One is a serious/comedic one, along the lines of Sword Art Online Abridged, and the other is quasi-faithful but mostly humorous like Hellsing Ultimate Abridged.

First up is Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works Abridged by Project Mouthwash (also the creators of Bleach Abridged and Digimon Adventure Abridged).

The way it is written, you can tell that the creators have a deep understanding of the lore of the series and use that to make in-jokes for those who are familiar with it, and has plenty of laughs even for those who don't. For someone like me, who loves the Nasuverse and the Fate franchise in particular, this series is absolutely one of my favorites. The episodes released so far cover the first season/half of the series.

Honestly I could write more, but it is just so god damn good that I don't want to spoil anything about the series, so I leave it up to you to look at the link.

Second, there's the Seven Deadly Schmucks by The Schmuck Squad (also the creators of MAGI: The Abridged Series of Magic, Agame Ga Kill Abridged, Hunter x Dumber, and numerous others).

Like I said, this is far more humorous than my other suggestion. While I was never really too much into the Seven Deadly Sins, what elevates this series for me is how they took some of the sometimes bland characters and gave them exceptionally fitting personalities. For example, while the Seven Deadly Sins are named after, you know, the seven deadly sins, they don't really embody those sins all too well. Meliodas, the main Sin who is known as the Dragon Sin of Wrath, isn't the happy-go-lucky perverted dwarf he is in the show, but is instead an extremely Irish drunk who is just low-level angry at all the idiots he has to deal with all the time. Multiple other personality changes are made along these lines, though I won't spoil them any further.

While the main episodes can be found on their channel, numbered as usual, I'm linking one of the side videos. Most of the humor from the show comes from the characters who are introduced in the second, third, and later episodes, so I feel like this is a better way to give you the vibe of the show (extremely minor spoilers/ruined joke for the fourth episode).

Code MENT (Code Geass) and None Piece (One Piece, of course) are both among my favourites. It's a shame PurpleEyes abandoned them years ago, but they stand out for their weird humour, and they can both be watched in their entirety in a couple of hours.

This is a timely necro because I actualyl watched DBZ abridged for the first time last weekend, after having a desire to watch the original DBZ (and being unable to find it). Haven't read the thread, but I'll assume everyone has already seen it. It was really, really good and I can't see myself watching anything but it again. That got me in a kick, and I watched Hellsing Ultimate abridged, which again, was really good, and got me thinking about writing a crossover with Harry joining Hellsing Org instead of becoming an auror, but thats neither here nor there. After that, I watched the WIP Fate S/N UBW abridged, and that was good as well. Only problem I had is that It's been awhile since I've seen any Fate stuff, and I'd only seen zero and S/N, so trying to keep track of what was actually happening and supposed to be happening was a bit rough.

After that, I tried the Yugioh one, but the production quality just wasn't there, and I don't actually have any interest in yugioh itself, so I gave it up. Same thing happened with none piece, plus my complete unfamiliarity with the base material, it just couldn't hold my interest.

I mentioned it on IRC, but I'd really love to see a pokemon one done, but I guess the base material is retarded enough as is that you couldn't really do much with it.

I've been enjoying Log Horizon Abridged a ton, a lot of the jokes are bit hit or miss though, I can take or leave the Dave thing and the constant joke that one character is a D&D nerd but all in all I enjoy it. As for other ones, DBZA I enjoyed but I'll probably never be able to say how much of it is the series itself and how much is my nostalgia/love of all things DBZ. Yugioh Abridged season 1 is fine because it was mocking the series when it was very much still Duel Monsters and not at all the card game so nonsense was everywhere. Hellsing Abridged is great fun if a bit memey at times. I'm going to be the voice of dissent though for UBW Abridged. I think it's shit. The abridged has like 3 gags: HAHA RIN THINKS SHE SUMMONED SATAN/REFUSES TO ADMIT OTHERWISE, everyone wants to fuck Saber, and "Archer is Deen!Shirou in this one" (as opposed to one from a pretty different route) and it just spams these on repeat, so it got tiring pretty damn fast.

@Anarchy The YuGiOh abridged was the first, and it's production quality increases significantly overtime. LK is basically the father of abridging, though he's basically dead these days between health issues and depression.

@Anarchy Give SAO Abridged a go. Having never watched the anime it's still absolutely fantastic and I go back to rewatch episodes constantly.
