I vaguely remember something about disguises not working in the DoM. If you took Polyjuice Potion, it would wear off upon entering etc. But I'm not sure anymore if this is canon or fanon. Does anybody here know?

Most likely fanon. I don't recall anything from the books about this.

I think you're confusing with Gringotts waterfall that has this very effect. I'm pretty sure there's nothing of the sort in the Ministry, DoM or otherwise.

The trio spend the majority of their trip there in DH under Polyjuice.

If you re-read the chapter, you'll remember the Thief's Downfall, which cancels all magical concealment according to Griphook, including Hermione and Ron's Polyjuice (and the Imperius on the other gobelin).

Sorry. By there, I meant the Ministry. Should have been clearer who I was responding to.

What exactly do we know about the History of Magic classes at Hogwarts?

    Hello, Fairly new here.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a thread or conversation regarding the implications of binding contracts and agreements between Wizards when considering the existence of not only such spells as the Unbreakable Vow, but also whatever magic Hermione put on the DA membership list.

I do not know if anyone has already talked about this, but if they have I would appreciate the assist.
I do not know if this is the place to ask about it like this. If not, then I apologize. I don't actively engage much in forums such as this one.

    Thank you.

So, here's a question: what would a character in HP call his or her direct superior in business? All I can think of is "boss" but that's way to american, I think. Guv'nor? Seems like it might be dated, but a quick look online shows some still use it. Tonks did as well.

Also, this is not in direct address, but in reference. "This is from my ____."

Guv'nor only if tongue in cheek. It's not just old fashioned but also highly specific to East London.

I'd just go with "boss" to be honest. Alternatives: supervisor, manager, upstairs, director/partner/whatever their specific position is.

    Thanks.

What if it's someone you're working for on a personal level such as a butler or perhaps, doing not-so-nice work for someone on a permanent basis.

You'd just call them "mate" or their name or something similar.

I think "mate" is unlikely to be used in a professional context. Someone like a butler would probably say "my employer".

If it's not a secret, I'd imagine they'd just say "This is from Mr. Insert-surname-here" and leave the fact that they're their employer to be implied.

    "My employer" might work?

Because teenage authors writing Harry Potter fanfiction in the time where her character was being "developed" were horny little bastards.

And it just stuck? That's crazy, because I'm pretty sure some people are deluded into thinking think it's actually canon.
