    Renewed for 70 more episodes. Harmon and Roiland's announcement video is chuckle worthy. Gotta admit, despite my problems with certain parts of season 3, I am hyped.

    So correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a 70 episode renewal basically carte blanche to do whatever they want for the next 7 seasons?

    Pretty much, unless ratings fall below and the void the contract. But 70 episodes is a decent buy in. Considering they don't have much else giving them ratings at this point.

    Adult Swim content leaves something to be desired sometimes. I knew it was a matter of time before they finalized contracts on this because they legit don't have anything drawing people in anymore.

    Family Guy is just old now. Cleveland Show is canceled, American Dad is on a new network after being canceled. Aqua Teen Hunger Force is done. SuperJail! is done. Assey McGee had a short run. Black Jesus is meh. That NCIS rip off they have is fucking terrible, so is Children's Hospital.

    And short of their Anime on Toonami, which people can get on CrunchyRoll and other streaming platforms they don't really have something they can truly call their own that's worth a fuck.

    Fuck's sake. I enjoy Rick & Morty, but I was glad it had been cancelled. I'll definitely watch it, and almost certainly enjoy even the poorer episodes, but would have had doubts about even a 7 episode renewal.

    Hopefully nobody will die in the mcnugget dipping sauce riots to come.

    Hopefully, now that the hype of season 3 is dead and the general disappointment of the fandom that the season didn't live up to their exceptions has set in, the pressure on Harmon and the other writers to shit out the greatest thing since sliced bread eases up and lets them pump out episodes faster without losing quality. I think part of the reason season 2 and 3 took so damn long was that fans had such unreasonably high expectations and wouldn't shut the fuck up about when the new seasons were coming out that the writers felt pressured to make sure that the new seasons were perfect as can be, at least in their eyes.
