I'll warn you now, Rashoumon was a trial run for the idea of raids. It's based on a new kind of energy, BP, which recharges every hour. You get six BP in all. This is not great game design. You also don't get rewards unless you defeat the boss or wait out the entire battle. Honestly I really didn't like the event, and I'd only rate Journey to the West as worse.

I know how good Raikou is, but I just can't stand the way she looks. Gonna skip.

Annnnnnnd I'm spent. Full shop clear and almost 400 million QP. Pretty damn good for an event I only spent 16 apples on.

Done. Got... 20 Claws. Two dozen dusts. 300m QP. Tired. Together with Da Vinci I must've gotten almost 800m QP total. Onigashima will be a different pace at least, or so I hope.

I'm glad that we all got a chance to farm up a shitload of QP, and that everyone did so well.

But I'm so happy to be done farming that mission.

Going through America now, since I didn't find the time earlier. The plot is... Weird. Like weirder than normal Nasu.

Some of you'll have jumped ahead long ago, but for those of us who haven't here's the interview with Nasu from 2016. Highlights IMO:

This is why, for me, FGO is so much beyond just "collecting 5*s". I'll roll through with 3*s like Urobuchi if I have to (but I don't haha), and hope the fates are good to me. Also I should start learning how to play this game instead of just relying on random teams.

I only got 166m QP... could've reached 200m if I hadn't basically skipped out a couple days. Enough phoenix feathers to level two of Emiya's skills thou.

I'm not even gonna bother with all of the Arturias.

Still a great game, but don't try and pretend it isn't fanservice.

Personally, I like it because it introduces some new elements to the Nasuverse while clarifying some aspects of an incredibly vague magic system. It also gives us a great glimpse into the personalities of a ton of servants. But this game has a shitload of fanservice, whether it's in the characters or just in the writing.

At no point have I felt that the FGO story was on par with Kara no Kyoukai, Tsukihime, or F/SN. I struggle to take it seriously when I encounter servants like Elizabeth Bathory and Nero (Bride) in E Pluribus Unum and they're talking about singing and setting up for a movie.

Though if we ever get to a point where we get the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors I'll be ecstatic, I'm dying to get Arcrueid as a servant, and I'd love to get more info on Primate Murder, The Dark Six, and Altrouge. Though we're supposedly waiting on the Tsukihime remake before any of that happens.

Key word: just a fan service. I think we can agree that FGO is something a little more than that. And those examples are weaksauce, real world events are real world events. I was actually expecting you to highlight the unnecessarily skimpy Servants. Those I ignore. These are... I'll look at Zelretch and his Kaleidoscope and shake my head.

...I still don't get why Saberface was ever a thing.

Edit: Meh. I see what you're getting at, breaking the fourth wall is pretty strictly fan service and disrupts your ambience. But it seems all the gachas have holiday events/units? It was kind of a baseline expectation for the industry?

There's fanservice definitely but it's going to get more dark and serious as the game goes on. We're only up to America on NA and looking at the future from JP it's been lighthearted comparatively.

I enjoy the game regardless though and like it all from what I've seen and played so far.

It will definitely get better than some of the FSN routes. It's also by far the best thing Nasu put out in a long, long time. It's very well researched (so many references that let's you know Nasu knows exactly what he is doing when he makes X or Y this kind of crazy thing) and a lot of time it's just fun.

I would call FGO a great mix of FSN best parts with Fate Carnival, with the intent of being choke full of Fanservice as a doujinshi.

Guy from SB called Flere821 did an interesting post. Thought it should be shared:
Shishou and Jack hit insanely hard. But do remember that Jack anti-female bonus lasts her entire turn so her crit will reach insane levels if properly set up.

If you're using either of those two, which is advisable since the event CE boosts Quick, I would recommend to bring in Alexander (after doing his SQ) and Atalanta in the Caster/Saber days respectively.

I have maxed Waver and Hans with 10/10/10. I was going to use Vlad as DPS and get Tamomo for support. But I'm seriously considering using Jack/Hans/Waver with Mash as tank, Cu to cockroach and Herk for last.

I'll be using my soon to be 10/10/10 L100 Jalter for the buster crit method. Seems like the easiest approach.

    Jalter300%, anyone with good
attack/buster/critdam/critstar party support skills, Waver support, backline Hans, backline Cu, backline Herc.

With the MLB event CE and the support event CEs to fill out, Jalter's NP and buster quads will one shot 6mil banana loli with about 5 stacks of attack/buster up, 2-3 stacks of crit damage up, and 25+ stars. If you don't one shot, you'll at least get really REALLY close.

When Jalter has a quad ready with 50% Np or more, pop all the buffs of one non-Jalter frontline servant, plugsuit them out to bring in Hans, and then finish buffing her with Waver and Hans. Then you laugh cruelly as banana loli is skewered and toasted in hellfire.

How you gonna make those 25 stars though?

Lartoria probably. Prioritze quicks and brave chains until Jalter's NPBB quad is ready, then pop TitsMcGee's on demand star gen + attack up and swap her out.

If worst comes to worst I can run Hans first and cardcount for the right moment to do his NP/third skill star gen shenanigans. There's more risk to that though because Ibaraki can one shot Hans pretty easily.

Edit: I went back and checked the Jalter strategy, @Invictus. Making a plugsuit sub to a servant with Carp equipped apparently auto generates 15 stars. So yeah. Shouldn't be a problem.

EYOOO Jalter and Waver masters gonna get a fuckton of friend points this event.

Hmm drew 2x Orion not so long ago. Guess this is where the stars are telling me to abuse the Orion, Waver and Tamamo comp. Perma stall with absurdly strong defense and solid NPs.

    Jalter/Waver/Waver
    Vlad/Waver/Tamamo
    Shiki/Waver/Tamamo

Gonna try all three and figure out who is more consistent. Jalter undoubtedly hits harder and like Khan said - can oneshot pretty easily under the right conditions. Vlad increases your stall potential while raising his own NP. And Shiki with the Tamamo Arts buff can NP three or four turns in a row with the right cards and a bit of luck.

    We'll see, I guess.

Might keep David in my backline as an "Oh shit" swap in case an enemy is going to get an NP off for some reason. 9/9/9'd him yesterday, also didn't realize that I needed the homunculus babies for Shiki's last skill, so that's a massive screwup on my part. Mash is a good alternative to simply eat an NP and get right back to business.

Looking forward to this event though.
