It's good for the most part, but every now and then it goes over the top. I played the alchemist/healer dude in the demo, and there's one scene where basically the whole screen is a big white blur.

Still, most is good. I especially love the effect inside houses where they shadow but don't entirely hide the surroundings.

18 hours into Witcher 3, I realize I imported the wrong Witcher 2 save, since I can't find Letho. I really, really wish Witcher 3 at least let me see what decisions I took in the save I'm imported before I start up the game, because now I have to start all over again.

Damn, that sucks man. Wouldn't even be that hard to add a summary of the choices you're importing, ME2 had one iirc.

Eh. Don't worry about it. He only has like 1 or 2 side quests focusing on him in 3, and I don't recall either as being very interesting.

Although if you think a bunch of other stuff might be incorrect, just start over. Unless you've been doing a speed run for the main story only, 18 hours isn't that much in a game with 200 some hours of potential questing.

I mean, depending on how you finish the quest, it can lead to some interesting scenes later in the game at Kaer Morhen if you send him there.... and sending people to Kaer Morhen is usually the best choice.

It's not just Letho. The whole imported save is fucked, since that's actually a save from my 2nd go at the game, where I just took up with Iorveth in that dwarf city. So it's not even an end-game save that got imported.

Almost nothing you do in the Witcher 2 except for the Letho choice makes a difference in TW3. It's Letho and the tattoo you can get, that's it.

You miss out on a quest, but you don't get a ton of rewards for it anyways and it's hardly worth restarting an 18 hour ongoing save over.

Honestly I'd just look into a mod to change the choice.

There isn't a mod for that or any kind of save game editor for Witcher 3. Besides, I'll just cheat and add the XP I need to get back to my level, since I have no intention of doing every single side quest all over again. I basically reached Novigrad at the 18h mark because I was fucking outside of it too much.

But now that I reinstalled Witcher 2 to see which save I should import, I'm thinking of replaying Witcher 2, this time on Iorveth's path, even though none of it has any bearing on Witcher 3. Which is a serious flaw, IMO, of Witcher 3.

Yeah, it seems like they didn't have any Iorveth content in Witcher 3 because they asked themselves "why would Geralt go with Iorveth in the first place? That's a narrative flaw! Guess we'll just not have that in the game."

It sucks because I can totally see him showing up for Kaer Morhen. Banet between him and Roche would be great.

Thanks for all the talk about The Witcher, guys. Thanks to you, I just found out I already own W2, and as a consequence, my productivity is going to suck next few days. Thanks.

I finally tried out Ni No Kuni 2 after hearing so many rave reviews about the series.

Nothing in those reviews could have led me to expect the protagonist being the ghost of a US president who was killed in a nuclear attack.

Just another eight hours until the game finishes downloading now that I'm past the prologue.

Huh, neat, I've been playing this over the last few weeks. I really enjoy it and I think I'm just about near the end.

I've spent far too much time on side quests and creating a kingdom instead of doing the main plot, but there's just so many tiny things you can do. The story seems a bit like... childish? There's a lot of naive happiness in it, but I can't say I dislike it. I knew it wasn't gonna be dark and gritty going into it, and I can appreciate that.

Mice as the villains (at least in the prologue) seemed to be a bit of an odd choice. Especially when coupled with the weird fishy decor in the castle. But somehow it all works. It has the Ghibli-esque whimsy which makes it feel childish without the petty juvenility that comes with things too harshly forced towards a younger audience.

It's obviously not meant to be a particularly dark or severe setting, but it does accomplish being fun, which is the big thing.

...five hours left on the download.
