I downloaded this on a whim.

I have never played a Fire Emblem game.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

I used all of my summons and got a 5* lady in a reindeer outfit.

This gacha seems kinder than FGO.

It is, and your Raindeer lady is one of the best I units in the game, and doesn't need much investment.

    Cool.

Evidently I picked the wrong Free Hero.

I picked Lucina, where I guess Lyn is the correct choice? How much is that going to hurt going forward?

Any quick tips from you guys that've been playing this for a while? I'll probably dive into reading guides and shit later, but I'm just asking if there are any standout things I should know.

Brave Lyn is a powerful f2p unit, one of the best archers in the game, so that's unfortunate, but Lancina is very good too. One of the best infantry lancers and a fantastic buffer for the other free 5 stars you'll get from doing the story (Fjorm, but more specifically Vanguard Ike).

Regarding summoning, if you're intending on staying f2p, save all your orbs for legendary banners (there's one going on right now). It's the most efficient way of getting powerful 5* units. You want to save until a specific 'colour' has 3 powerful units you'll be pleased with getting - like green and red are now.

Legendary banners have double 5* drop rate (8 instead of 4%, and there's pity boosting too for every non 5* you summon). Normally, in other focus banners, your pity rate can be broken by non-focus units you don't really want whereas in legendary banners, you can only get the ones advertised.

But yeah, main advise is to do so the story stuff, do as many quests as you can and stock orbs for legendary banners.

Oh, and make sure you use your 1 free summon on every banner.

    Thanks for that.

Played for a number of hours last night and... I'm honestly kinda pissed. FGO could have been like this. This game has a fuckload of depth and customization, it even has minigames... My only problem with FEH is that I don't know any of the heroes, with Fate servants this would have been the perfect mobile game.

Seems pretty fun so far though.

Played enough to do two more 5 rolls, I'll never get used to that 8%.

    [IMG] [IMG]

I kinda feel like an asshole who pulled Jalter on a tutorial roll. And where was this luck when I was trying to pull Shishou?

No idea who to put together in a team, but I don't think it'll matter for a little while yet.

The difference in my heroes movement speed is annoying as hell. Of the four I've been using, two move one space and the other two move like 5.

Just been focusing on the story while dabbling into things like the voting battle and tap minigame.

Work on building armor emblem teams with your hector and winter tharja. There are numerous guides on how to build an effective one floating around.

It'll be rough without Armour March, but keep an eye out for Draug. A 4* Draug gives you Ward Armour, which increases the Def and Res of all Armoured enemies within 2 spaces.

Adding to that, if you have enough orbs, go HARD on blue pulls for both the current legendary banner and the current Hardin banner. BlueLyn has Armour March, and she'll be a half-decent armor centerpiece for a solid enemy-phase team if you can nab Hardin as well. Ultimately you'll want to pass Armor March skill to a tankier ranged armor unit like Halloween Jakob or Winter Tharja.

Another couple important aspects of this game are IVs and merging.

IVs make a huge difference and, depending on your luck can make or break a hero. You can get two copies of the same unit with a 6-8 point differential in a stat, which is absolutely critical in some cases.

I got a Summer Cordelia (purrdy) from my free roll in that banner and she's -atk+def, turning her from a deadly offensive unit into a lackluster, speedy physical tank...

Merging is vital if you want to get high ranked (and earn more rewards for summoning /building your heroes). It's very resource intensive to 10 merge a 5* hero (so look up tier listing before committing to it. You can't go wrong with any of the dragons or armoured units though - Tiki, Nowi, Fae, Effie and Sheena for example).

You can also just +10 merge 4* units (though they won't naturally have access to their default top tier weapons unless you inherit it to them). A 4* +10 is usually equivalent to a 5*+3 so it's definitely viable to build up your roster for heroes you've no interest in heavily investing in, but can be useful (Olivia is a good example. A red sword dancer - they have a unique assist that refreshes a unit's turn).

    ...

What started as what I thought would be a fairly simple heads up sounds really complex in retrospect... Lol. This game is deep, and they're always adding more.

I had the day off, so I've done pretty much nothing but play this and grind out orbs. No Hardin, but I picked up Zelgius, Sigurd, and and a random Morgan (lad) off of that banner, and Fell Robin off of the legendary banner.

I've leveled four teams up to around 20 (where the exp drop off in early missions became too much) and a few of the 4*s really exceeded expectations.

Cherche I picked because I thought she was cute, but I kept her because she just demolished everything in front of her (and Pivot, beautiful Pivot) . Same with Soleil actually. The fact that heroes other than 5*s are actually viable is a big plus for me, I like getting the same performance out of a not necessarily ideal hero even if it takes a bit more work.

Hell, in FGO I love my 5*s, but my 4*s have been my real workhorses (Other than Waver, praise be unto him and his glorious support.)

Cheers guys, I appreciate it. I look forward to learning the deeper aspects of FEH.

Arguably two of the strongest units in the game are adult Tiki and Nowi, and both are available at 3/4*.

Cherche is a monster too, deadly with both Brave axe+ or her slaying hammer to murder armours.

Looked at tier lists, also seeing Nowi in damn near every YouTube vid I've watched. What is it exactly that makes her so good?

I think I'm almost done with the story on Normal, and I've finished all the Paralogues. And I'm pretty sure the game wants me to use Armor.

Bought the starter package for Black Knight. So now armor-wise I've got Hector, Zelgius, BK, Tharja, Lyn, and Hardin.

You were right, Armor March is gross. Combined with Swap and Pivot movement really isn't an issue.

High stats across the board, built in distant counter, does magic or melee damage to ranged units using their lowest defensive stat to pick, and she does magic damage in melee range.

She's not UBERSTRONG until you pimp her out with an optimal moveset though.

Yep, you're now set for about 85% of all noninfernal content. Legend Hector, Tharja, Hardin, and Wind-Lyn will carry you for a good long while if you pimp them out with best enemy phase movesets. Basically just stack 3 ward armor, let stuff plow into you, win.

Your only serious weaknesses will be the occasional armor breaker units (Micaiha will utterly wreck your shit) and the annoying brave lyn / dancer combo.

Well, seeing this thread get active and having pulled four Myrhh, I wanted to actually look into getting a "team" together for once. Jesus, I'm the ultimate casual on this game. Playing since the beginning and just doing nothing, lol.

So I was looking into a Dragon team, since Myrhh.

I've got Legendary Robin (f) +1, Myrhh +3, Tiki (Young), Nowi +3 as a team now.

    Other Dragons I have-
I've got a Fallen Robin (M), a bunch of four star Tiki (Adults), Kana (F), Kana (M), a bunch of Fae, and a Corrin (F).

Trying to wrap my head around all the builds and trying to get synergies is killing me. It's bad when you're taking a break from trying to be productive in FEH to look up medical journals for an essay because that seems simpler.

Building a worthwhile dragon team is hella expensive in terms of inheritance load.

With what you have now, I'd say swap out young tiki for an ascended adult tiki. Make nowi and tiki your dc tanks, robin your centerpiece, and myrrh your main attacker. Give everybody reposition and just mimic a flier team, using robin and myrrh to get around obstacles. I would also put a null flier advantage skill/seal on myrrh so you rip through those cc archers.

Edit: Alternatively, if you were lucky enough to get Noire, your Nowi, adult Tiki, and a green dancer will be very effective for a huge amount of content even at budget inheritance.

Well hell. While I'm sure I could do it, I do wonder if there's a better team type out there for me.

Is there any good site that helps organize heroes you have? Puzzle and Dragons had PADHerder at some point, where you could just enter in all your data and keep track of everything.

I think gamepress maybe? There are a lot of companion apps too. I don't really organize, I just wing it. The newish skill search function negates a lot of the need to do research.

Dragons are uber SI heavy, and mostly rely on a very rare skill (Steady Breath from Brave Ike) to be bonkers - Vanguard Ike has the Res version (Warding Breath. I gave it to Hardin), but he's really handy for doing infernal challenges, so I wouldn't sac him.

Depending on your IVs, I'd do one of two things. If Lyn has bad IVs, I'd give her Armour march to Tharja (Candleabra is good on her, but if you can get Rauðrowl on her she's even better).

If Hardin has bad IVs, and Lyn perfect, you can give her Bold Fighter (hands down the most busted skill in the game) and Blárblade (or any good blue tome) to turn her into a nuking monster, or, better yet, hold onto Hardin. Wait patiently for the hero I'll post a pic of and make the most powerful offensive unit in the game (currently).

I'm just not a fan of LA Lyn. She's defo my weakest armoured unit (though mine is -def+res). I gave her close counter, so the second I get someone I wanna give that to (Jaffar probably), she's gone.

Ideally your Hardin has good IVs (-spd/hp, +atk/def/res) and you can build him like this (refer to pic #2).

Alright, well, new plan. Perused gamepress a tad and came up with

Hector / Fallen Robin / Lyn / Nowi.

Trying to configure stuff on Hector with inheritances and such, but damn it's a hassle.

    Berserk Armads
    A
    Distant Counter
    Swap
    B
    Bold Fighter 3
    Ignis
    C Armor March 3
    S Quick Riposte 3

    Or

    Berserk Armads
    A
    Distant Counter
    Swap
    B Wrath 3
    Bonfire
    C
    Threaten Def 3
    S Quickened Pulse

And now to farm SP, which I've never actually had to do before. Guess I have time to figure out which one I want, at least.

There's 3 Hectors and like 6 Lyns, lol. I'm assuming it's Vector because the weapon (though you can inherit it to other Hectors) though.

Bold fighter. Every time. It's the strongest skill in the game.
