Me too. It felt like going from Stardust Crusaders to Diamond is Unbreakable. Narration especially.

You stop taking a character seriously when they start making those exaggerated villain faces.

So now we've got another Central-type ebil organization for our heroes to deal with. Joy.

I have to say, regardless of how retarded this whole plot is (and it is) Tadokoro going 'I got this' and Soma 'Of course' was pretty cool and somewhat unexpected.

As long as it actually works and doesn't take away from this. It's nice to see a confident Tadookoro.

Double post, but I was pleasantly surprised this chapter. Good guys actually making proper (ab)use of their resources in order to grow? Sign me the fuck up.

I sort of hope that this is the equivalent of the Fishman Island arc for One-Piece, where this whole arc is just an exhibition of how much better everyone if the main cast has gotten. I'd be fine with some gratuitous displays of power after the retardation we had to live through.

If the spoilers I just read turn out to be accurate, I'm dropping the fuck out of this series.

The 'Saiba' mentioned at the end of the last chapter is the previously-unmentioned other son of Jouichirou's, who during this chapter 5-0's the man himself in a shokugeki and then says he's headed to Japan to meet his brother.

I can't fucking even. If Tsukuda actually did this, then I predict this series is getting the axe by year's end.

    Nice.

I don't understand why you're surprised or angry though. Are you still expecting something good from this series?

I'd have liked something good from it, considering that it's one of only two series that I still read weekly. But I'm done if those spoilers aren't a troll. I did genuinely enjoy it up until Central, and was somewhat hoping that it would find its way again after finally emerging from that failpile.

You should know that once the fail train has departed, there are no brakes, only doubling down.

Right, chapter's up. So now that I've actually read the scan and not just a text spoiler, it seems like this is more of a ruse. That's enough to keep me going for the time being. Not the first time I've overreacted to something and likely not the last either.

It seems like this new guy won the right to 'become' Jouichirou's son via shokugeki in this chapter, and isn't in any sense blood related. I'm choosing to believe that Jou half-assed and threw the match besides, because why not give Souma a new hurdle to overcome and keep his real son from getting complacent up there at the top of Tootsuki.

If that's all true, whoever this Asahi character is has done his homework. Stealing and tarnishing Saiba's name is one certain route to starting a personal fight with both the new headmaster and her First Seat.

Jou is supposed to be the final boss, how can you make him job 0-5 to the new villain.

Yeah, it's extremely short-sighted and dumb. I'm choosing to believe that Jou just was dogging it, until I see definitive proof to the contrary.
