I think we all have a million and one plot ideas (or partial plot ideas) running around our heads that we know we're extremely unlikely to ever put onto paper, either from a lack of time or a lack of will.

This thread is for the sharing of those ideas. It's not a challenge thread, and people can't go stealing ideas without permission (unless an idea is incredibly broad e.g. "post-OotP indy!Harry"). It's just somewhere we can talk about all those cool little ideas we've had, and maybe even find the inspiration to do something with them.

In that sense this thread can be thought of as a to-do list. So people can post WIP stuff too, as well as ideas for original stories.

    I'll start off.

    WIP: "Immortal Project" (See: http://forums.darklordpotter.net/showpost.php?p=277433&postcount=30).
WIP: "Changing Time" (My story in WBA).
WIP: Complete re-write of my old story "The Mysteries of the Department".

HP/LotR crossover. Harry gets hit with Voldemort's Killing Curse in DH and instead of getting transfered to the ethereal King's Cross, ends up in the LotR universe. Only not in the LotR era: he's there at the very creation of the world, when Eru is directing his choir of Valar and Maiar. Harry accidentally messes with the music and is thus the cause of Melkor's turning. The story is then about Harry trying to fix that which he screwed up.

    HP/Dresden crossover.
Harry Potter ends up in the Dresden universe, pays Dresden to teach him the magic of that world (after a bad experience with a Dresdenverse entity that will come back to bite him in the arse - maybe a debt to a faerie or a wizard with some of his blood/hair). Would be HarryP/Molly.

Harry Potter/HDM crossover. HDM = His Dark Materials. See http://forums.darklordpotter.net/showthread.php?t=8161

HP/Stargate semi-crossover. I believe this was someone else's idea, maybe. Or possibly an adaptation of an idea they had. Anyway, it'd be a Stargate story where the magical world found the Stargate, not the Muggle one. Could be either two ways: a complete AU where the Stargate is a magical device, the Goa-uld possess people by magical means, and their spaceships are magical in origin, or a lesser AU in which the Stargate universe is the same, only it's wizards going through the gate from Earth rather than Muggles. HP would be on the equivalent of SG-1.

That's the crossover's done with, lol. Now for the one-shots.

"Second Impressions" - sequel to my one shot First Impressions. Maybe set during an AU CoS, Harry actually is the Heir, and how he manages to pin it on someone else (following the theme of Harry and Riddle's life mirroring each other).

Dumbledore vs. Grindlewald final fight scene, interspersed with flashbacks to their meeting, friendship, and falling out.

Honey I Shrunk the Harry. Harry gets hit with a shrinking charm and has to fight for his life in the undergrowth/Hogwarts against all manner of beasts, such as ants bigger than he is. Luckily his wand was shrunk with him.

Water!Harry. Harry is transfigured into a puddle of water. A surreal one shot following his experiences of being a puddle of water.

Beedle the Bard story. Set in an indeterminate period at Hogwarts. For some reason the Tales of Beedle the Bard are coming to life in the halls of Hogwarts. At first it was fun, but the story quickly turns serious as the more serious tales begin to appear: particularly the Tale of the Three Brothers and the Warlock's Hairy Heart.

And now for longer fic ideas.

    - Post-Hogwarts, post-DH, pre-epilogue story covering Harry's time at Auror Academy (have loads of ideas for that place), the political state of the post-DH wizarding world, and an affair with the recently married Fleur Delacour.

    - A story in which Harry ends up in a world without magic, i.e. the real world. The story follows him as he attempts to find other people with magic and effectively become the father of a new magical community.

    - Plus my three WIPs at the top.

    Finally, original ideas.

I may decide to transform the Immortal project into an original idea, given how AU it is already.

Also, a story about a character who is aware that he's a character in a book. It would be a semi-philosophical work (philosophy through fiction), looking at what complete determinism would mean for the way we approach and value life, and how to think of ourselves if we have no free will. It would also be a potential refutation of Descartes' Cogito Ergo Sum (The character would think he was having thoughts but wouldn't be actually having any, because the character doesn't exist - his thoughts are not his but rather the thoughts of the reader/author. This would work as a thought experiment showing that the existence of thoughts does not necessitate the existence of the self).

I'll go ahead and list everything crawling through my mind at the moment, too, I guess.

Thing's I'll never write but have outlined (they all suck):
    - HP/LotR: Harry and Dudley get sucked back to the First Age, and Harry has to learn some of this new kind of magic in order to help fight back Sauron while the elves are busy with the other big baddie (been a long time since I even researched this one...)
    - Dark!Harry: A Harry raised by Voldemort rebels and joins the resistance against his former allies. God, that sounds terrible even as a short sentence...All I ever wrote of it was a fight scene in the Hog's Head.
    - Unspeakable!Harry: I don't even remember. I basically thought lorddwar's "Summer of Change" was great, and wanted to write it...

    Actual stories of mine:

HP and the Unlocked Knowledge: Once upon a time I liked writing this story. However, revelations in the way I understand/believe magic works (Not in any way how it works as I wrote UK) and the incorporation of FAR too many cliches make it unlikely that I'll continue this. The sequel I had sketched out involved Harry over the summer going off to Albania to confront a Vampire friend (and teacher) of Voldemort's to claim the final Horcrux, frequently interrupted by his returns to England to foil Voldemort's plots. It'll probably never see the light of even the WbA section. I think UK was an alright first story, but I've moved on, I think.

HP and the Alchemist's Apprentice: I have more of this written than is posted anywhere right now, and still look back on it fondly. I think the magic in it is much closer to canon, while still somewhat interesting and fun. Unfortunately it read like a treatise on magic at times. Eventual plan: Harry goes to Hogwarts and finds Albus Dumbledore, a 5th year and a total nerd with few friends except Doge the hanger-on. Harry teaches Dumbledore to not be a douche, and they work together as eventual apprentices to Flamel.

Mr. and Mrs. Potter: Anyone remember this one? It was posted in WbA a while back, and featured both Harry and Ginny as leading double-lives, in an interesting twist on the DH epilogue, where nothing was as you were lead to believe by JKR's words. It was fun to write, and I might come back to it if I watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith again and get turned on by Angelina.

Repression: Another short-lived excursion I dabbled with in WbA, this was where Harry had an imaginary friend who allowed him to be a regular, happy-go-lucky kid by having his alter-ego push bullies around. It was reminiscent of Fight Club in some ways (where Harry thought his alter ego was another person), but unfortunately no one got it except nonjon and criticized me for having an OC. I lost interest, but could feasibly come back to it.

HP and the Seminal Vacation: Another story that's "active". Set post-CoS, where Harry uses his bank account to go with the Weasleys on their vacation to Egypt. It's meant to be light-hearted at first, but then edges onto topics like how Ginny didn't learn her lesson of 'don't be an idiot' with the diary, and nearly kills them all.

Escape to Darkness: My current focus, a bit inspired by the Count of Monte Cristo. Harry escapes from Nurmengard with Grindelwald, and takes his revenge out on Voldemort and the society he's crafted. I'm getting into seeing just how far Harry will go in his revenge, as the current chapter sort of eludes to. If you haven't read it, I recommend it, as I like it. It's also the first story I've ever had beta'd (thanks Sophie).

Winter Wizard: My first Dresden Files story, where Harry seeks sanctuary from Morgan after the events of Storm Front, and ends up in Mab's debt. Another actively updated (well...relatively) story, so I'm not going to give any more away.

Post-DH fic: This is a brand new one I've been outlining/pre-writing/diving into. Harry attends auror academy after the N.E.W.T. requirements are relaxed (which frustrates some of the instructors). He's forced to attend some remedial classes, the lack of living aurors and qualified instructors forces them to use Death Eaters to teach the non-practical component of Dark Arts, and to do it all without the help of Hermione making him study! I've taken inspiration from shows like N.C.I.S., which is a portrayal of aurors I've not seen done often or well (a more investigative take on it, rather than having them as some kind of soldier). Harry's partner will be Pansy Parkinson, and I'm hoping to keep everyone entertained with the sexual tension there.

    Original story ideas:
    - Unwritten/planned: A series about a detective who's a newbie, not well-liked in the department, and gets all the boring cases. He's kind of a character you'd least expect - a poor shot, hates guns (carries an old Detective Special from the '30's that he's never fired, and isn't even sure it DOES fire), is overweight and out of shape, and is terrible with the ladies, living alone with his pet rabbit. The first book would be where one of his "nothing" cases turns into a homicide and the first time he ever fires his weapon.
    - Fantasy series, about a "wizard in training" (original, no?). Said training would take place starting with his college years, where he gives up a full football scholarship (unconsciously summoned the football to him, made a great receiver) to study "History" under his uncle at the University of Michigan. So far it's mostly been a lark for me and my friends who attend the U, and what college life would be like if I could summon wind to blow up the dresses of the sorostitutes around campus.

    Let's hear some others!

Hmm... I'm already liking this thread, because it's got me thinking about all the little ideas I'd love to see adapted into fics...

WIP: "Renegade Cause" (my fic currently in WbA)
WIP: A complete rewrite of my old fic "Dealer Agent" (I like some of the ideas I came up with for that fic - namely the luhix-control drug plot idea - and I'd like to eventually fix it up)

HP/MtG crossover: As far as I know, it's never been done well (in fact, I'm not sure it's been done at all), especially considering that the Multiverse concept is one of the best suited for dimensional travelling. I haven't fleshed this idea out yet, but Harry vs. Phyrexians in any form would be pretty fucking awesome.

HP/Dragonlance: nobody really knows everything that Raistlin Majere was doing between the Chronicles and Legends trilogies, hidden in the Tower of High Sorcery. This plot idea involves said character utilizing a magical ritual to travel outside his own world - and into the world of Harry Potter. Bereft of the moons and thus the majority of his magic, Raistlin attempts to make contact with any wizard he can - and who else does he meet than Harry Potter?

"The Day To Remember" - sequel to my oneshot "The Night They Remembered", in which Harry and Tonks work to deal with the aftermath of their little sexual ritual, even as Moody and Dumbledore work to cover everything up. Likely a oneshot or a very brief fic.

ViolentAnarchist!Harry - even if it's just a oneshot, I want to have a chance to write this. Primarily because Harry already has somewhat of an anti-government slant, and it wouldn't take much to push him over the brink...

And a few long fic ideas...

-a post-Hogwarts story describing the unstable and tumultuous years after the death of the Dark Lord, as the Wizarding World finally gets a clue and begins to evolve towards contemporary society. Likely a heavily political or economic-based story, with lots and lots of intrigue. Frankly, I don't think I've reached the level as a writer to compose something like this yet, but its something to work towards...

-Wizarding World apocalypse. It is year 2012 (not that I believe in any of those crazed conspiracy theories, but it would be pretty funny), and the Muggle world is falling apart, damaged by pandemics, war, and economic collapse. Can the wizarding world survive the downfall of society, or even save it, or will they be doomed like the rest...

-A Harry Potter/Watchmen crossover - I've been giving this idea a fair amount of thought, because the 'superhero-inside-society' idea is something I'd love to see done well in a magical society. Sure, it might have been a Muggle pastime in American society, but what if it became something more in British Wizarding culture? Radical Hit Wizards and Aurors, sick and disgusted with the Ministry's ineffectiveness, decide to don masks and fight against Grindelwald and Voldemort with new and strange tactics - some could even call them superwizards... A Harry Potter in this world would be very different than that of canon, I'm thinking.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I realized I never read through the entire series and thus would never write it.

HP/DresdenFiles - Harry Dresden needs a favor from the Sidhe, but is reluctant to be screwed over. Thus, he approaches a consultant in Europe who shares his name, a one Dr. Potter. Pioneer of Arithmancy, who uses the magical properties of numbers to create chains of logic. It is completely unbreakable, circumventing the aptitude of Sidhe's to twist words and find loopholes.

Maschalismos - This one I'm actually writing, but plan on posting when I finish the updates for the rest of my stories. This takes place after Voldemort, when a dystopian wizarding Britain practices Maschalismos, the death custom of physically crippling corpses. They adopt it due to the fact that magical corpses are highly sought after by grave-robbers and rogue Curse Breakers. Cults spring up everywhere, a foreign dignitary visiting the Brutus Bibliotheca sees a countryman slain on British soil, international tensions spring up, and Harry Potter is a dark figure that lurks at the periphery of everyone's vision.

My first priority is to finish the WIP; after that I’ve got a few ideas I’m not ready to make public yet. Here are two bunnies that keep pestering me though:

    * A believable Harry/Tonks story that eschews shopping trips, super!Harry, and Unspeakables. Tonks goes undercover in Hogwarts as a bodyguard for Harry and they develop a relationship of sorts. This one may never happen, as I don’t have the slightest clue what the plot would be. Feel free to offer suggestions or steal it.

    * A humorous one-shot that breaks the fourth wall with impunity. The characters behave much like the disgruntled chess pieces do when Harry plays, offering advice to the author and refusing to perform certain actions. They would receive ‘scripts’ from an anonymous fanfic author, much like actors in a play. It could be an opportunity to lampoon many of the fandom’s most sacred clichés. For example:

Snape (reads script and glares up at author): “I would sooner use my own phallus for potions ingredients than adopt Potter as my son.”

    Harry: “What?!”

Ginny: “I don’t know—I think the idea sounds kind of sweet. What’s a phallus?”

Snape (sneering at Ginny): “Crucio! Fucking fangirl.”

This could be a total disaster if not pulled off right. I’ve only seen one story that did this, and I remember thinking that it could have been a masterpiece in the hands of the right author. I wouldn’t mind seeing nonjon take a crack at this one.

    Great thread.

I may actually write this one day, time shall tell.

    The Grandeur of Hell

    Harry/Bellatrix/Luna

Post-OotP, the Death Eaters succeed in capturing Harry from Privet Drive, due to the Dursleys disappearing before Harry arrives. Since they don't let him into their home, the blood wards don't recharge.

Harry's in captivity for two months, faces daily tortures, with Bellatrix raping him in-between. As time passes, the reins of sanity break. He eventually escapes, but not as Harry Potter, who long ago died.

What remains is a deranged sociopathic murderer, hell-bent upon visiting vengeance upon every single person who has ever wronged him, whether truth or merely imagined.

He kills most of his former friends at Hogwarts, either framing them on Slytherins or making the deaths look like accidents.

Pretty much everyone dies, with the climax occurring at Grimmauld Place. Harry discloses the location of the hideout to Bellatrix, since his proper ownership of the home allows him to disable the Fidelius. Convinces Dumbledore to hold full Order meeting. When the Order is seated, Harry does something which causes the entire Order to be frozen in place. Then Death Eaters storm the place.

Large fight in meeting room, Harry and Bellatrix against the Death Eaters, Order members being used as shields by both sides. Hugely violent. Fawkes fire-transports Dumbledore away. He then comes back, and lays waste to both sides, killing Bellatrix. Before Dumbledore can finish off Harry, Voldemort arrives. The three of them battle, with Harry slipping away. He activates anti-magical transport wards, and then suicide bombs the two lords.

My plots are pretty weak since I haven't been working on them much, so they'll just be the gist of it.

    AU Fics:

Neville is the BWL; An original take on the cliche that is usually had in Dimension-crossing fics.

What if Harry got off a lucky shot in the Ministry of Magic, and killed Voldemort's current body? May or may not have Dumbledore dying, and deals with the aftermath.

A Post-Last Battle fic, where people realise that Harry is now the Master of Death and possesses the Elder Wand, and some decide to hunt him down. With a Goblin Rebellion taking advantage of the weakened wizards, a somewhat strong Death Eater force at large, and the Wizarding World's existence possibly being shown to the Muggles....

A What if Harry died in the end of Book 4 and later returns, based on the blood-bond now shared between him and Voldemort. Hidden from the world at large and searching for the Hocruxes alongside Dumbledore, he attempts to finally end Voldemort's existence.

An AU fic where Tom Riddle is born a squib and the effects from this massive change in history.....

    WIP: None (how embarassing...)

HP/Batman Crossover: I forget which member's working on it, but I had disagreed with making HP the Joker; made no sense IMO. I had thought that Sirius would make the perfect canon-derived Joker. Major points:
    - Time: Post-Hogwarts
    - Voldemort was never defeated
    - Harry's parents are killed when he's 10 (same as Bruce Wayne). Goes on "Batman quest" from age 17 to 21.
    - Petunia = Alfred (no family). Raises Harry.
    - Sirius = Joker. He escapes when Harry's 21. Extreme "Harry = James" psychosis leads to desire to reform Marauders. Gruesome murders = "pranks"

Had a bunch of other character switches, but that's not necessary at this point.

Post-Hogwarts story (Tentative title: That Damned Stick!): basically a bunch of vingettes about Harry's different obstacles since becoming the master of Death. Jeconias did a Harry/Daphne story in a similiar style. Basic plot of each chapter: someone or some group wants the wand, they try to get it, they fail. Interlude chapters would be snapshots of steps Harry has taken to protect the wand, which may or may not make sense until other chapters are released.

HP/Captain America crossover: Grindelwald became interested in the muggles to (a) keep the magical governments busy and (b) to keep the muggle tech from acting too much like magic. As such, Imperiused "sleeper" muggles were placed in different places of import - including the group of scientists working on Project:Rebirth. The gamma ray used to catalyst the physiological changes were too close to the Killing Curse, so the sleeper is ordered to kill the lead scientist (who kept the specifics of the project secret) if it ever became successful. It is, so he dies, and they take his brain to keep others from extracting the info.

Fast-forward to 1980: Lily somehow comes across the scientist's brain, gets the formula, and (in addition to other protective magic) doses Harry so that the Killing Curse won't kill him. Voldemort finds them, kills the Potters, destroys his body attempting to kill Harry, and charges him up to become a super-soldier.

Power He Knows Not: chuckin' shields. Lulz.

Harry kills a dementor: my fairly sappy love story-ish one-shot. The basic premise is that Harry (educated outside of Hogwarts and society) can destroy a dementor because his happiest memory is hurting Dementors. Recognizing this, he doesn't want to have any other truly happy experiences until he's gotten rid of every dementor. The happy experience would, of course, be falling in lurve with one of the female characters, but I haven't really worked all of that out.

I published this plot bunny over on LJ. This is pretty much Book6 rewritten from the beginning:

The Year There Was Only One Slytherin Student

Based on the history as given in the books, before Halloween 81, the Death Eaters had been brazen and bloodthirsty. They often attacked homes and workplaces during the day, and would leave nothing but mutilated corpses. Many of the original Death Eaters retained a taste for bloody violence. At the beginning of Book 6, the general population knows that Voldemort has been reembodied. News of the attacks aren't suppressed by the Ministry any more, and there is no longer any reason for the terrorists to practice subtlety.

Suppose Voldemort, or some of his Death Eaters, decided to attack the Express on September 1 of Sixth Year. Platform 9 3/4 has a heavy security presence, but there are no aurors on the train itself. The only security on the train is a few members of the Order, volunteers placed by Dumbledore. The Death Eater parents have told their children to take the first few carriages, and hinted to the traditionally Dark or Slytherin families to encourage their children to stay up front, as well.

Snape and Malfoy are not informed.

The Express ambush is carefully planned, and it goes off beautifully at first. The attack is swift and vicious and completely unexpected. The few in-the-know students are prepared and take down the train's adult defenders. Harry and the DA students managed to protect the cars and younger students around them. Ironically the front of train took the most damage. The Engineer and Conductor are unconscious or dead. Somehow (perhaps a spell causes a secondary detonation, or friendly fire) many of the Slytherin students are badly injured as well. The attack lasts only a few minutes; the DE are guerrillas and they do not want to be drawn into a pitched battle.

None of the survivors know how to activate the emergency alarms. They are forced to send owls to Hogwarts.

While waiting for help to arrive, everyone works together to help the injured and reassure traumatized children. The older Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw students each end up with at least one badly frightened incoming student clinging to them while they work. Many of the students, Pure blood or not, had not actually realized what a "Death Eater attack" really meant. While trying to calm the children, Harry and the other students talk about some of the politics of situation, and about Hogwarts traditions. When some of the children are told that many Death Eaters are actually Slytherin alumni, they are horribly upset. Harry explains that all one needs to do is ask the Hat for a certain House - or refuse to accept one.

Rescue crews are under an hour away. Major injuries are sent to St. Mungos Hospital, aurors and reporters insist on interviewing absolutely everyone, and by the time the train finally pulls into Hogsmeade station, it's much too late for the Sorting Feast. Most of the students end up bedding down in the Great Hall - the younger students insist on clinging to the ones who helped them during the crash.

Presuming that most injuries can be rapidly repaired with magic, only a few students aren't at Hogwarts by the next evening (Sept 2.) The Sorting occurs during supper and nearly every incoming child is terrified that they'd be Sorted into Slytherin. Each child goes under the Hat determined to be anywhere but Slytherin. At the end of the Sorting, there is exactly one incoming Slytherin student. That's the background.

I'm interested in how this vastly distorted House balance affects everyone at Hogwarts.

    1) Is Albus Dumbledore interested in forcing a more balanced class ratio? Does he try to encourage children to ReSort? When the more severely injured incoming students are released from hospital, does Dumbledore simply put them in Slytherin without using the Hat? Or does the old man decide to stick with tradition?

    2) Is the Points system held in abeyance for a year (or dropped entirely?)

    3) How do the other students, especially the other first years, treat the Slytherin child? Is he spoiled by Professor Snape? How do the other Professors score his demeanor and achievements? Does he make friends outside his house, or hang out with older Slytherins? How does he react when he realises that some Sly students suspected there might be an attack on the train?

    4) How are classes arranged? Is he simply added to the Ravenclaws?

    5) All of the students are revolted by the horror of the September First Massacre. This would vastly undermine Voldemort's popularity in the School and among his secret supporters. There will be horrible night terrors and PTSD. Consider self-destructive coping methods and phobias relating to being trapped in a burning train car.

    6) We know that the Prophet is the Pure blood's mouthpiece. How do they handle the initial reports and the long term fallout?

    7) How does Draco Malfoy react to discovering that the rest of his House year-mates had been warned? Were the other students specifically told to withhold the information from him? Remember that his parents' lives rest on completion of his mission. He can not simply throw a tantrum and switch sides. Or run away.

8.) Dumbledore is NOT blamed by the Ministry or by popular opinion. He arrived first on the scene, and is seen as the extremely competent, powerful Light lord that he hides behind the role of "nice-but-loony" old man.

    9) The attack on the Express would be a good chance for some of the overlooked students to shine.

    10) In canon, Harry is focused on Malfoy-the-Death-Eater and what Draco is doing in the Room of Requirement, and Granger and the Weasleys are focused on Harry. Trying to change that would change all of Book6.

    11) How does Snape react? Why wasn't he warned? When he is briefed on the students' reactions to the attack, how does that affect his attitude to Harry or the DA? How does he treat the students who had been warned that something might happen on the train ride?

    12) Most of the British wizarding population believes that Hogwarts is the safest place in the country. How many try to get jobs there, tutoring or as teacher's aides? Do off-duty aurors volunteer as security? Do parents of students try to get the School to stay open year-round? There could be a major boost in teaching staff, with small specialized classes being taught.

    13) Consider possible magical medical/surgical treatments for permanent injuries. Perhaps someone can develop a "panic bracelet," that sends out a loud alarm or messages the nearest auror station (and it would be funny to see the reactions of the responding aurors to accidental signals.)

I'd prefer no "Ginny [or anyone] throwing herself into Harry's arms" style romance. Frankly, that was embarrassing. "No Pairing" works fine for me. If you must have a love interest, slash or het, put a lot of effort into it.

W.I.P.: HP/Nightside cross: Starts off a year after Harry defeated Voldemort with a somewhat different final battle. Harry is confused and strangely apathetic, and how exactly he 'vanquished' Voldemort scares him. He's not sure what he did and what that act did to him and is looking for answers. Has been planned in three parts, the first part 'In Search of the Night' will go up to Harry finally deciding to find and then ultimately reaching Nightside. This will go into deep philosophical waters and will include a lot of obscure mytholygies.

W.I.P: BtVS/X-Men Evo: At the time when Angel looses his soul and Angelus is running free, Xander stands up to him in a hospital to keep him away from a sick Buffy. Now Angelus wants revenge and captures him which leads to a kidnapping where none of Xander's freinds know where he vanished to. When Spike helps Buffy to stop Acathla, he sneaks Xander off to LA on a whim, which leads to an amnesiac mutant Xander in Magneto's hands. Now Xander must find who he is and where he came from and why exactly is his mutation so different from normal. Currently being re-written because the last 2 chapters of the original sucked.

Random ideas that I'm working on...

HP/Dresden Cross: I'm working under a basic idea of what-if the Potterverse in a previous version of creation (againt deep philosophical waters) eventually evolved into the current Dresdenverse? The concept of creation and all will be explored in the fic, but the basic premise is there. Potterverse has dragons and fairies and all, though nothing like the ones in Dresden verse. Starts off in Proven Guilty when Dresden is invading Arctis Tor. With how much fire magic he unleashed, he broke open an old coffin there and never even noticed. Picks up sometime later when Dresden or Molly meet Harry Potter. The problem here is that I have no real plot beyond this. So this one is shelved for the time being.

WoT: Set after the Tarmon Gaidon. The final battle is over, the bore is sealed again and the Forsaken are gone. The blight is receeding year after year but no one has any real idea of what exactly happened in the final battle. Set some 17 years after that, Elayne gave birth to twins - a boy and a girl. The girl is the Daughtor Hier of Andor but no one is sure what exactly the boy should do. Elayne wants him trained with the Warders and to succede as the Sword-Prince for his sister. The lords of Tear, Illian and Cairhien all want him as well. Aviendha wants him among the Aiels and he himself wants to continue learning at the Black Tower. Min is the only one he feels doesn't have any undue expectations of him and meanwhile he has started seeing his father, the Dragon Reborn Rand al'Thor in his dreams and eventually awake too...
This one is actually five chapters written, but I'm not exactly happy with what I have yet. It just doesn't read like WoT. So it'll be re-written.

Heroes: In season three, episode 'I am Become Death', Gabriel explodes taking all of Costa Verde with him. What if Peter was able to freeze time before he exploded? Now 10 years after Arthur Petrelli tried to give all the humans powers, the Company is a global thing, recognised by all governments of the world to control and monitor the evolved humans and is run by some rather familiar faces. But where are Peter and Gabriel?
Same problem as the HP/Dresden cross. I have the starting chapters written but no real plot beyond discovering where Peter is and that Gabriel has gone bad...again.

    I have an idea for a one-shot.

Hermione is assaulted by a group of Slytherins. She's hurt and wants to press charges. Snape tries to cover it up, or intimidate Hermione into retracting her accusations. Instead, she insists on an inquiry. Dumbledore manages to keep the issue handled in-house, but effective investigation techniques support her version of the story entirely.

Whatever else Hermione manages to leverage out of AD, Snape, and the attacking boys, I want her to claim the authority to set the Sly common room password.

Hermione makes every Slytherin student say,
    "Tom Marvolo Riddle is Voldemort"
    several times a day.

    One shot:

James and Lily Potter have heard the prophesy. They know that Voldemort's after them. So they do what any normal person would do: they turn their house into a veritable magical fortress.

And then, once they're done, they go over to the Longbottom's to sabotage their defences.

Anything to save their son, right?

Only, it's a bit strange... the Longbottoms are supposed to be in hiding, but they're not in the house...

Finished, Lily and James return home, only to find their protections completely undone. Turns out Frank and Alice may have had a similar idea.

You need to write the Second Impressions Taure, with how mercilessly you ended the one-shot. Need to need to need to. It would be great to read if Harry ever became aware of the similarities between himself and Riddle. Then you could have yet another sequel to show Harry as a prefect, since that's virtually all we knew of Riddle's school years.

The concept is perfect, and the titles really make themselves.

First Impression -> Second Impressions -> Final Impressions

Not written any of these, except for poor imitations of some of the more important sequences in my head.
Haven't written any of these, except in my head.

Words Unspoken: Ron doesn't belittle Hermione after the Charms Lesson on Halloween first year. The troll attacks, nobody is missing, Dumbledore may even keep everyone in the Great Hall. Hermione doesn't go to the Quidditch Match (she probably only went because of Harry in canon), no disturbances in the Teacher's Box, Harry gets a rude wake-up call, Quirrell uses a successful distraction to hunts for the stone.

Revelations: Someone poisons Quirrell in the Great Hall, Voldemort existence goes public. What now?

Sudo-Indy!Harry: Generally a distrustful child, Harry thinks friendship too good to be true. So when Dobby blocks his mail, Harry takes it as proof and decides to strike out on his own. Only problem? The Goblins have been bribed to speak ill of Dumbledore, make him believe in all those clichéd conspiracy theories, and show him a fake Will. Could turn out interesting if Dumbledore REALLY manipulates Harry with reverse psychology later on.

Dystopia: The Ford Anglia was in perfect condition when the boys flew to Hogwarts. They didn't get caught, and Ron's wand never broke, leading to interesting Draco Bashing. But now they're stuck in the Forbidden Forest, Spiders all around them, no escape in sight.

Flying and meetings: Harry goes flying during GoF. Cho Chang misses the Quidditch Season, is fooling around on the pitch. They meet by accident, things spiral out from there.

OoTP AU: Emo!Harry goes on vacation. Basically what I want to see in fifth year rewrites. Harry being better at keeping his head down around Umbridge. Telling Hermione that he doesn't want another Pettigrew when she comes up with the DA, leading to better cooperation. Marietta bails at the Hog's Head, they never get discovered. Instead of beating Draco up, Harry just casts Silencio on him and walks away, learns Occlumency, etc. Might work as a readable one-shot, or a decent build-up for a different sixth year. Voldemort plans a different way to make Harry get the Prophecy, two twists possible.

Deathly Hallows Rewrite: Instead of disarming Stan like a moran, Harry stuns him. His identity remains undiscovered, gets hit by a Killing Curse from someone other than Voldemort, survives again. That's all I've got planned.

The Matrix: A vague concept of the canon being like The Matrix, only without technology. Someone makes Harry discover this, he finds out that he's super-powerful insight the Virtual Reality. Etc.

Some pretty awesome ideas here, guys! Good stuff all around.

I only have a couple to add:

HP/Dresden Crossover: I outlined the first couple of chapters months ago, but it never went any further. All in all, it's pretty similar to Sam Black's "Sentinel". Harry Potter is an Unspeakable, and is the Ministry's equivalent of the Dresdenverse's Gatekeeper - meaning he guards against time paradoxes and breaches in the proverbial "walls" of the HP universe. The rest is pretty much identical to "Sentinel": Demonic summoning, Harry gets sucked through the Outside, and lands in the Nevernever, right smack in the middle of a battle between the Wardens and the Red Court.

The Chronicles of Tom: The summary I had in mind went something like: "Every path has its first steps, and the path to power is more arduous than most..." Essentially it's Voldemort's post-Hogwarts adventures, beyond Rowling's lame 'well, he was a salesman for a while...' to show how he gained the power and skill to challenge even Dumbledore.

I had two books planned out, but never found the time to write past the first scene. The first book would have been Tom travelling Europe and joining up with a travelling band of wizarding mercenaries. With the power vacuum left behind by Grindelwald's recent demise, and the subsequent chaos that engulfs continental wizarding society, there's no shortage of work. This first book would also delve into how the wizarding world fights a full scale war, rather than the small-time guerilla action we see in canon.

The second book would focus more on Riddle's character development, some years after he leaves the merc company. Up to this point, Riddle wants power, and he's willing to kill for it, but he still has some lingering doubts, and sometimes longs for the simple contentment of a normal life that he sees around him. Amidst his internal turmoil, he seeks out a fabled "Vampire Queen", in search of knowledge of the deeper mysteries of magic.

During his dealings with the Queen, he falls in love with her, deciding to have his cake and eat it too, by marrying her and having her turn him. It seems the perfect solution: Immortality, the power of a Vampire king, and the woman of his dreams. Until he discovers that she has no intention of sharing power, and instead wants to make him a slave to her will. Naturally he reacts badly. Epic battle ensues, and Tom eschews his name, and love, for good, finally becoming the Dark Lord that wizarding Britain would come to fear.

    Here's a couple I've had sitting around.

Un-named HP/Witch Hunter Robin Crossover. Only thing that comes from the second is the world. Harry is transported, still don't know how, to a world where wizards don't exist. There's still magic, but at some point in the past witches and wizards lost the ability to pass down magic through bloodlines. So all wizards are muggle-born and have learned to use their powers on their own. In this story Harry would immediately run afoul of the organization created to hunt witches that show any supernatural powers.

HP/Magic the gathering crossover When Harry is killed in HBP, his spark ignites and he becomes a planeswalker. Harry being an idiot manages to get himself enslaved by another more powerful planeswalker. Fast forward two or so years and Harry, now a top enforcer to his master, breaks free and flees with a valuable trinket. Story would focus on Harry's return to earth and his desire to protect it.

HP/Oblivion Crossover I borrowed some of this idea from a story on FF.net that despite such an amazing plot device reads like a cookie cutter Indy-Harry story. This wouldn't be Harry-Centric but follow Sirius after he falls through the veil and into the planes of Oblivion. Had another idea with Sirius ending up in the Hall of Worlds but Fiest doesn't allow fan-fiction so oh well.

Cannon Compliant Time Travel This one I'm actually working on, albeit slowly. Harry is cast back in time in an attempt to pull Voldemort's soul back to the point of Harry's birth, with knowledge of his death and what not to do. The plot fails, mainly due to the Voldemort attacking Harry in the time stream. Harry ends up falling side wise through time, to his first year. Except as this is an AU things are different. This is a combination of the time travel cliches with the sibling who lived cliches. Except in this case Harry's twin is very much the girl-who-lived. Harry was left in a coma, only waking up because he absorbed adult Harry's soul. A re-worded prophecy causes Dumbledore to see Harry as a bad omen and the two end up not sharing any information for several years. Harry justifies this because he knows the future and doesn't need Dumbledore's help, yeah. He didn't lose future Voldemort in the time stream so there are two of them running around.

One I just remembered, Harry willingly entering the Triwizard, because he's sick of being coddled and reviled for something he has no control over, wanting to be known on his own terms instead. He might use a paper plain, or let Hedwig drop his name in the GoF. Gives Ron an opportunity to enter as well, different trio split happens. Stuck in the planning stage at that point.

Not so much a plot bunny as an idea I wish to see in written word. I am/was going to use this in my own story but my time is so limited these days for writing that it'll take me another two years at least to get to the point where I could put it if I don't lose the urge to write completely.

It's a Harry/Death scene. When Harry 'dies', whether just a near death experience or like in canon or however, he meets Death and plays a game with him for his life. If anyone is aware and or knows of the movie 'The Seventh Seal', it would be something like that. If not, in the movie a man plays a chess match against a personification of Death for his life. It's quite a brilliant piece.
