Welcome to Time Out: Whose Post Is It Anyway, the thread where the content is made up and the postcounts don't matter. That's right, the posts are like scum's claims and opinions after Irene does her Wai-Fu. They don't matter.

We've got a great lineup of spammers and mafia connoisseurs for you who will post incessantly on random topics, rarely paying attention to each other and getting generally so excited about being able to express themselves that you'll find yourself with fifteen pages to get through after you wake up in the morning. As they do this, they will be building their Time Out postcount- which as I said doesn't matter, and at the end of the Time Out, I pick who I think was the best and they get to make the next Time Out.

So come on down, let's have some spam! Feel free to talk about the game of mafia. Ask questions about anything mafia-related. Don't ask anything about a GiP (game in progress), though, even if you are dead in the game.

---------- Post automerged at 11:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:04 PM ----------

I'll start off with a simple one: What kinds of games would you guys like to see in the future? More Hunt style games, more Micros, or more closed setups?

I'd like to see us do more big games again, like 20+ players.

What do you guys think is the best day lengths, because I have never seen a good argument against long days. I'd like to see all games days as like a minimum of 4 or 5 rl days, preferably closer to a week.

So far I've been liking all of them.

Avatar a little bit more because...frankly I didn't feel quite as lost as I do on Brass XD I think I may have needed more experience before tackling a closed set-up. However, I do enjoy it and the gold system is clever.
I definitely want to try to do a big game.
Also, games with themes (Dresden, Avatar) seem more enjoyable for some reason.

The only problem is...to be honest, I found 72 hour days to be way too long for my tastes.
And on D2 of Brass, where it got extended by an extra 24 hours, I was ready to melt. The Days are times of hyper-aware thinking for me, and it gets exhausting. XD

48 hour Days have been the best for me.

Please don't talk about an ongoing game. :) Thanks.

Apologies, I tried to evade any sensitive info.

As strange as it is, I honestly do not mind the day length - I've played on sites with 24 hour days all the way up to two month days, and all I can say about them is that it's important to set day lengths in a way that feels "right" - give the players enough time for discussion, but don't make it become stagnant.

I dislike the hunt games, personally, but that's just me.

    What are Hunt Games?

2 MONTHS? I could not do that. How long did that game LAST?

Hunt games are setups like the Avatar game you played in where the roles are all known at the start and there are very few to no vanilla roles.

Huh. Really? I loved that type of set up. Why don't you like it, Lexi?

Game lasted from May to August, and concluded with my mislynch at mylo. Was fairly taxing on me.

I'm fine with trying a Hunt setup occasionally, but it breaks a lot of my analysis tools. Also increases complexity for players - with closed setups you have to process your own role PM, while an open/semi open setup means that you have to process the entire setup at once.

Yeah, some games took too long. Those make it hard to win as players irl gets in the way.

I actually feel I thrive more in that sort of setting, with the alternatives laid out which I can observe from every angle and know exactly how many possibilities are out there and which are more likely.

I can easily juggle hundreds of hundreds because they're concise and solid, and easily narrowed based on actions.

In a closed set-up, trying to do that just makes me dizzy because the possibilities are literally endless most of the time. XD

You might be more comfortable in Open or Semi-Open setups, then, where all of the roles are revealed at the start.

I'm not a huge fan of mechanics/role discussion when playing mafia, since it doesn't help lynch the scum - I acknowledge that it's sometimes useful in Hunt setups to optimize role stuff, but I vastly prefer analyzing behavior.

    Basically this:

(and yeah, the "possibilities are endless" thing is modgaming, and it's pretty much useless, for reasons stated above)

Mechanics interactions being used in place of actual mafia/scumhunting iirc.

I would love to try out a large game on here (20+), I'm especially interested in if it would end up fairly chaotic early on with so many active players on here or if scum would bubble up through so many towns scumhunting

This isn't really pertaining to Mafia mechanics and in no way reflects the current active Moderators of the actual DLP site but I feel like one more dedicated Moderator might help run things more smoothly, simply by virtue of covering a wider range of time and activity. If the current Moderators really feel they can keep up than I'll rescind this but I really feel one more mod would allow for a more active Little Italy sub-forum. It'll also allow for an extra game to be played smoothly.

If this isn't something others feel is a good idea than ignore this please.

Could be a good idea, so long as the only the current mods choose the new one. Less mess.

I think so as well. Odd numbers also help in deliberations.
