I'd never thought of the Heimdal possibility, that's really interesting and would fit with how Norse mythology is already represented as having truth to it, until this was mentioned I also thought he's a benched angel but I like this more

As I've told Zeel before I think Rashid being a former Winter Knight makes sense. Maybe he's the last one Mother Winter chose even.

Winter knights don't get to retire. Their severance package is literal.

Is there Word of God on that? Because Rashid's line of "It gets easier," seemed to suggest he knew a great deal.

I'm not saying you can cheat your way out. I am saying Mab might promote you.

I interpreted that as Rashid advising him about dealing with potentially cataclysmic events, such as Outsider invasions and rogue Faerie Queens. I don't think Mab would talk about him with as much respect as she does if he was once her Knight. She has a tendency to see her Knights as tools to be used, which is contrary to how I see her relationship with him.

No, I think Rashid is just a wizard who is very good at his job and dangerous in a way that earns the respect of a Faerie Queen.

I believe it was said in the books that Mac got his pub Neutral Territory status was that he just simply filled out the necessary paperwork.

I wouldn't say that's the way it is at all. She expresses pleasure at Dresden's disrepect, sort of, at Demonreach in Cold Days. Dresden is more than just a tool. If she wanted someone who did nothing but follow her orders, she would have picked someone else for her knight.

Perhaps I chose the wrong word. It would be more accurate to say that Mab views her Knights as beneath her, I think. She enjoys some of Harry's mannerisms, but it's in the same way we'd treat a pet. There's respect there, because she knows he's quite dangerous, but she doesn't treat him as an equal.

Mab has real respect for Rashid and she speaks of him with fondness. That's not something I can see her having for her Knight. There's no way she would treat a subordinate with the same kind of respect she does Rashid. I think she views him as being similar to her; cunning, dangerous and very intelligent.

Then again, if my theory holds, they've worked together for a long, long time. Perhaps he has earned liking and respect over decades, if not centuries. Going to be interesting to find out.

Oh, considering he's about a milennium old, I'd think it was centuries.

I'm so thirsty for new Dresden.

Yeah... That alone is weird. And yeah, tell me about it. Nothing new but weird crossover slash.
