Edit: Please feel free to ask any questions you have. The previous question thread just got too old.

I started reading the books again for the third time through on a road trip.

In Proven Guilty Harry is trying to use Little Chicago. The second time he tries in the book, when Lash is against him using it...

Bob lets harry know at some point that Little Chicago was broken, and (a transition coupling in the power flow) someone fixed it.

Who fixed it? Lash? Was it mentioned at all? I totally missed it.

That bit hasn't been clearly stated anywhere. The prevailing theory last I checked (4ish years ago) was that Uriel bumped his elbow at just the right time and way to fix it on that first attempt at using it.

I've read a theory that Lash and Mr.Ego Dresden on the inside worked together to save Harry's life. I suppose I just need to go to some convention and beg Jim to tell us.

My personal feeling is that time travel is involved. Guessing Book 19 or 20 will clear up this question. Same with, "Who was driving the gray car that almost put Harry off the road?"

Regarding 19, I seem to recall reading recently that such an event would occur more toward the BAT than the main case files. As for 21 I hadn't heard about that - do you have a source?

I do not know if the series is going to 21. I know there is an apocolyptic triligoy at the end. I don't know if that is 18/19/20 or not.

Jim was in a podcast with the dresden files podcast group, they were asking him questions about the future books, like when's mavra coming back, when are we seeing lealenansidhe and so forth, it was cool to listen to, although it gives broad big picture /slight spoilers.

The 21's was a joke. I don't know if thats how far the story will go, but it certainly won't be harry waking up to a dream in his office not having any magic. That shit would make me flip tables Jim, if you can hear this and not in a good way.

I think he's being funny, Zenzao, lol. The nyan cat gave it away? Unless he's being serious, in which case... nope!?

Exactly! I edited my post for seriousness.

So lets talk about Mac. Wasn't tied up in the warehouse, was recognized by an outsider... and He's "out" apparently. And he won't talk about it. What the hell Butcher? Why do you have to set something up like this, and then continue to claim he's just regular vanilla.

    Perhaps Mac = Jim Butcher?

Prevalent theory is that he's an Angel that gave up, but didn't Fall. Optionally he's a god of alcohol from one pantheon or another that has no followers left. Aegir, Norse god of the sea, for example.

Only if Jim Butcher = Stephen King. :sherlock:

Some of the stuff mentioned here I'd almost forgotten about. I should probably re-read the series at some point, but God, there's so many.

There is a WOJ that there was going to be 20 plus the trilogy. But he has said he has plans for at least two more now. So 25 total minimum. At least he writes faster than George RR Martin.

Not exactly saying much, you know. He's not nearly on the level of Sanderson, either.

I dunno, he was putting out two books a year during his Alera days, and he's been doing at least one a year since.

Maybe not quite Sanderson, but close I think. This book is the first real aberration I think, and considering Jim recently went through a divorce I'm willing to cut him a little slack.

Dafuck guys? Butcher consistently puts out about a book a year. Sometimes more. Sometimes slightly less. Sometimes there's non-Dresden books mixed in there.

But fucking hell, about a book a year is damn good pacing in my opinion. I've always been impatient/ready for the next book, of whatever series he's working on, but I've never felt cheated by how long it takes him.

Now that he's more established there are also a lot of publicity stuff for him to do to raise awareness about his books. I'm assuming all the conventions and the like take quite a lot of his writing time away.

I could see an angel that gave up, or perhaps Dionysus or one of his counterparts perhaps?

We are going to be doing an accelerated book club Starting in August. Attempting to read them all from start to finish before Peace Talks. Join up!

In the podcast he simply talks up to 20. I would love for there to be more to the story. If he capped it at 25 case books. 22 would be the last book we got before the apocalyptic trilogy.
