Well, according to their escalation method;

The Death of God/Amara means that another Universes God will rock up and start waving their dick around, thus requiring the brothers to ride again.

Y'know, I've missed a lot of episodes - there are many that I only know through fanfiction - but one thing that I haven't noticed that the writers used is all the souls in Heaven. Cas has used living souls for power, and all the souls in Purgatory as a naquada-enhanced hydrogen bomb to kill Raphael. There must be billions upon billions up there (and that's just the humans), just cycling endlessly through their individual heavens. I wonder if they might be the nifty new idea for next season.

Or maybe they'll be recycled to make a new God. Huh.

My guess is that this season ends on them killing Amara, but with both her and Chuck dead, the Universe is slowly being unmade, and now there is race to fix that shit, that ends up with two people taking the place of Amara and Chuck. If not the Winchesters, it'll probably be Castiel and someone else like Lucifer or Crowley.

IIRC the preview had them going for a "soul bomb" or some such? When Amara, y'know, devours souls? I think they're only going to make her more powerful.

What I want to know is how does Death equate into the Amara-Chuck balance? Was it just his own hubris saying that he'd been there since the beginning and that he'd one day "reap even God"? If he really was there at some point, then maybe there are others like Death, Chuck, and Amara. Speaking of which, shouldn't his scythe be able to harm Amara?

A pretty cool ending of the season and it fits with the 'family is important' theme of the show.

As for the next one, I'm already annoyed by the British Men of Letters. While they have a point about Winchesters being a cause of many problems, treating them as some kind of amateurs is ridiculous.

... and now I'm seeing a far-in-the-future final episode, in which a starship captain and aliens of several different systems discuss those quaint old legends all their planets had about so-called "supernatural" beings, and how the legends all died out at about the same time. It's one of the great mysteries of their galactic quadrant.

Well, it pretty much ended the only way it could in any satisfying way, talk no jutsu.
That said, not sure I like where next season is going. On one hand, I’ll be the first to admit, Sam and Dean are idiots with no imagination and a terrible improvement rate, who bundle their way through their adventures because the plot demands their enemies to become stupid and forget a majority of their powers, and yes, they caused their fair share of world ending scenarios.
On the other hand, one way or another, those two have tangled with the biggest and worst beings out there and lived to tell the tale. Leviathans, Demons, King of Hell, Witches, God and the Darkness, Archangels, Angels, Reapers, Death, numerous gods and the Four Horsemen. They know all the big players and the big players know them.
Now tell me, why a bunch of rich people in Britain are supposed to be the in a place of judging them and why should we see them as a credible threat beyond the fact that they are actually willing to harm the Winchesters physically?

Besides, if the MoL were so "concerned" about anything, why haven't they lifted a finger the past 6-7 years at least, where numerous world ending threads were going around. So, meh, not sure where they are going to go with this, except the Winchesters completely demolishing the Men of Letter organisation there.

All that said, the last few episodes were a blast. The family drama in the big family was just awkward and fun at the same time. The banter thrown in by the brothers and Crowley was entertaining and well, as cheesy and hammy as everything was, I enjoyed every second of it.

The show managed to gain back some trust this episode and I am willing to go into the next season with an open mind. Maybe Dean will collect some allies in the form of their hunters in training girls to bail Sam out of the MoL's trial?

Bit of a rant here.

Y'know what gets my goat every season? Dean spent at least a year in Purgatory surviving? A good part of that kicking every kind of monster ass that came around, if I'm remembering right, albeit with the help of Benny the Vampire. So why does he keep on getting knocked around like a fucking chump? All of the fights that he and Sam have been in haven't given them some measure of insight into how to stay on their feet, dodge, counter-attack?

Jeez. Praise Mary for the kill.

Honestly, this is the main reason I couldn't keep watching this show. Every god damn episode, it seemed like the same shit happened. Dean/Sam would get into a fight with some ugly motherfucker, get immediately punked (despite doing this shit for the better part of a decade), said ugly would tie them both up instead of immediately killing them, Dean/Sam would escape somehow (rusty nail hanging from post behind them/knife that wasn't found on them, somehow), go find the magical macguffin that is the only thing that can kill that creature, yet for some reason can be found out on wikipedia with two or three seconds of effort, and kill said ugly motherfucker in a pseudo-dramatic battle.

And since I actually don't even know the fight you're complaining about, am I even close to correct about how that played out?

Fairly accurate across the seasons, yeah. The best part is however that this time around it's just a human. Dean can't even beat a woman(albeit with brass knuckles) that he is decently angry with. I don't care what kind of training she may have gone through, it doesn't fucking compare at this point. He should know every weak point on the human body to target and have the reflexes to follow through, but no, he's just another punching bag.

EDIT: And on further reflection given the set up these mooks are running, she should be even less qualified to beat him - how many one-on-one match ups with monsters has she gone through? Doesn't look like any of them have fought against real threats by themselves unlike the Winchesters.

Yeah, that shit me a lot, as well.

The whole set up of this British contingent is a bit loose. As someone on Reddit said: 'You don't get to say you're good at your job and then sit out the fuckin' apocalypse.'

I'm hoping Dean straight up tears her apart. Mumma Winchester sees how far her boys have fallen, particularly once she meets Crowley, and her arc is to bring them back - to be better, not just stronger.

Here's the thing, it's not just that he should know every weak point on the human body that irritates me. It's that, by all accounts, he does know every weak point on the human body. I mean, shit. Look at the last competent, and by far the most interesting in a long while, human opponent he fought (before I stopped watching the show, at any rate). The army guy, the one who was a kid that saw Dean kill his father (who was apparently some monster Dean never knew the name of, blah blah blah) and that trained his whole fucking life, just to one day have the opportunity to kill Dean. And Dean beat his ass, twice. Look at the pilot episode, and the fight between Dean and Sam. They're depicted as being very, very competent fighters. And it's been repeatedly stated that they are very competent fighters. But nearly every god damn time, they don't win through skill, and rarely through superior planning (which could be damned interesting), but dumb luck.

I mean jesus christ, they trained literally their entire childhoods to be hunters. They shouldn't get punked by some upstart, younger than them by two decades, vampires. And from what I'm interpreting of the fight you're talking about, they definitely shouldn't get bitch slapped by some untrained woman.

It's the inconsistency that pisses me off.

Alright, I'll stop ranting about a show that has so much fucking potential, but decides to piss it all away for reasons far beyond my comprehension.

Or, you know....back when the FBI was still after them, and they were consistently shown and stated to be dangerous enough to require full on SWAT Teams, that still didn't get the job done? I still remember that scene where Renegade was playing in the background. One of the best scenes in the show

But that's always been the case though, in Supernatural. Dean and Sam's greatest ability is that their presence makes their opponents loose IQ points like crazy and forget their abilities.

Villains/antagonists in Supernatural can be one of two things, they can either be competent at what they do or want to kill the Winchesters. Those two are never in the same person.

Just have to look at this British faction for that. The head lady wanted to capture Sam, so she could take out Castiel and capture Sam. Her henchwoman wanted to kill Dean. So she crashed into their car and took them off guard. Then instead of shooting them then and there, she gets out of her car with brass knuckles and beats them like red headed step children, all the while mocking them, as if she was an anime villain. Only after handing them their asses does she try to kill and and lo and behold, rescued, because she was a moron who was taking her sweet time.

That's the woman trained by this supposedly super efficient British system, which captures any and all monsters in 20 mins? How does that make sense? She forgot how to efficiently and quickly take out an enemy, because she got close to Dean Winchester with the intent to kill.

Always happens.

But yeah, that was some fucking bullshit. No way does some random human mook take apart Dean and Castiel like that. Also not really buying how great the British system is and how that makes sense with their "well, let's sit out all the world-ending threats" stance. That kinda makes you loose all moral high ground.

So yeah, there was a lot of crap, but I am kinda curious to see where this goes.

Was also kinda under the impression Lucifer was dead?

Also, lol, I now have so many questions on demonic possession.

Nemrut, your issue with the show really has to do with the writers. They are struggling to find ways to continue that show. It is what, 12 season. They have explored everything they could and are now reusing plot point and ignoring logic and previous episodes.

It has been an issue since day one but prior to season 6, we were willing to overlook a lot of its flaws because it was entertaining enough to not make us care about them. Demons, ghosts and whatever monsters always just threw the Winchesters across the room until they get backstabbed by the other Winchester/ally and we could kinda roll with that.

But that's not going to go away, so, complaining about it is a bit pointless. Just wish Dean and Sam were better written, is all.

About that though, the thought amuses me that a few interns are frantically leafing through mythology books in order to find big bads that are bigger than God's fucking sister.

But honestly though, fuck that. They always reused plot points. One brother keeps a secret from the other even though he has no reason for it has been a major plotploint in every fucking season so far, and I have no reason to think that won't make an appearance this season either.

But yeah, as I said, Supernatural has had a few flaws since the very beginning but then it had the charm and our SoD to push them, which is now absent.

That said, last season was the best since 5, so, I am somewhat optimistic. Sure, it had a weak start but most season starts were meh.

According to rumor, Cas is supposed to be more of a jerk this season. I'm not looking forwards to that. It *isn't* what I want in character development. I remember a friend describing A Game of Thrones as a "chance to watch interesting and attractive characters die horribly."

Anyway, I finally decided that the way I'm going to deal with some bog standard human woman being able to take down Cas and Sam is by convincing myself that they just can't hit a girl.
