    Holy Shitballs.

Campaign mode. Characters from all canon timelines, apparently. A tauntaun pulling a Marshawn Lynch on a bitch.

    I'm cautiously erect.

I dunno. There already exists a Battlefront 2, and it had a great campaign, and you know what else it had? Motherfucking Republic and CIS factions, that's what. This looks to be (much like the more recent Battlefront) miles behind that in anything but graphics.

    Not even half chub.

Doesn't matter how good the graphics are or if it has a campaign, if the gameplay is similar to EA's shit and if it has those annoying pick-ups there, I won't be buying it.

Tbh I don't really hold much hope for any good new star wars game, last ones I enjoyed were Jedi academy, Kotor 2 and bf 2.

EA holds the rights for all Star Wars video games made/published until 2024 or so.

So yeah, expecting anything good to come our way before that is foolish.

To this day, I mourn the premature death of "1313"…

Anyways, I liked the trailer, if for nothing else but the beautiful reimagination of the music.

The twist on the singleplayer mode sounds interesting, and I had to suppress my inner Imperialist jumping up and down with joy. I should not be so hyped when one looks at the recent campaigns in Battlefield games, but somehow I get the feeling that this one will be better and, hopefully, last longer. I just hope EA & DICE won't be stupid enough to just shoehorn it in to appease the fans, because if that's the case, it won't.

Also, I'm not much of a multiplayer gamer so the singleplayer will have to be good if DICE wants to see any of my money.

I mean I'll probably get it because it's a Star Wars game, but definitely gonna go in cautious on this one. It's certainly not something I'll preorder or probably even get in the first month.

I'll watch it, but I wasn't interested in the first EA Battlefront and if it's too much like that I'm unlikely to buy it.

All I really want is Battlefield with blasters and X-Wings, you wouldn't think that would be too hard.

I'm hopeful for Visceral's (2018) game, I feel like Amy has earned herself the benefit of the doubt.

I absolutely love what Amy Hennig has done with the LoK series, but that's when she was completely in charge of things. Here, she's more like freelance writing after leaving the guys behind Uncharted, if I'm not mistaken, and I'm not sure if it'll turn out for the best if she's not allowed to shape the story the way she wants to.

Also, Visceral is the dev group behind Dead Space, right? 'Cause the 3rd was just plain shit.

I don't know man, a Portal designer recently joined the team. They seem to be outsourcing a lot of talent for this.

Although, I've heard people speculating that it could be a Han Solo game since it's releasing in the same year as the spin off, and is set between RotS and ANH... which leaves me torn. Movie tie ins are notoriously bad, but if anyone could write an awesome Han Solo script it'd be the chick who created Nate Drake. Which may be exactly why they hired her, and why she so quickly agreed.

Downloaded the beta on a whim the day it came out. Didn't like the Battlefront 1 beta enough to buy the game, and looking back I can say it was a good decision.

    I'm loving Bf2 so far.

Galactic Assault does a great job of making you feel like you're in the battle for Theed, my biggest problem with it is the downtime after dying. Theed is stunningly modelled, it has been my favorite Star Wars city since Galaxies, and Im glad that they did it justice.

Strike is less chaotic and probably the better choice if youre just wanting to hop online and kill rebel scum. With only a single real objecive, combat is still furious as there's less downtime after dying.

Starfighter Assault is the real surprise here, it is fucking awesome. Despite my love of flying, I didnt have any real interest after trying the aerial combat in Battlefront 1 (and all of the Battlefield games). I only played it for the loot crate... Man was I shocked. Every FPS youtuber I watch has said the same. This is probably the closest youre ever gonna get to actual Star Wars naval combat. The objectives are great and actually accurate in relation to Star Wars.

Galactic Assault and Strike are cool, but it was Starfighter Assault that sold me.

Beta has been extended to Wednesday, check it out if you havent.

Do higher leveled/geared players still have a defined advantage over new players?

You're gonna die far more to straight up gunfights than abilities.

At no point during the entire beta did I attribute a death to someone having a higher level star card than me.

From the challenges/miletones alone I had enough credits to get a bunch of loot crates. Enough that combined with my credis from playing matches, I either got or crafted every first level card for every class, some cards I had up to level three or four.

I dont agree with the crates being purchased with real money, but I dont think it's going to affect the game or me as a player nearly as badly as the media is portraying it.

Maybe, but the fact remains that Battlefront 2 is yet one more in a long line of increasingly egregious fuckery on the part of major publishers to milk the consumer for every possible cent, by employing free to play psychological manipulations in a game with a $60 base (and often closer to, if not over, $100 actual) price.

Much like Shadow of War, I find myself fundamentally incapable of bringing myself to buy it because it's so stupidly egregious.

Well EA's done it again. They've shut down another studio. Visceral Games has been liquidated and project Ragtag is being fundamentally changed. Apparently the market doesn't look like it will support a single player experience... so EA wants a more replayable experience that they can milk with microtransactions. Because that's what Star Wars fans want, nothing but online games. Unfortunately for me, this was the one Star Wars game I was truly excited for, I wonder what will happen to Amy Hennig?

At this point where EA's shut down a dozen talented studios after taking them away from the great games they make, does anyone else think that they're just buying up the competition with the intent on running the businesses to the ground?

I suspect the "new direction" is to make the game more like DA and ME, rather than your typical story-modey naughty dog title, which doesn't adapt well to EAs favorite money making model: post release DLC.

And yeah. Of course they're going to charge you through the nose to play every little bit of their shit. EA is, above all, in it for the money. And the money right now, for some ridiculous reason, is in iterative installments and microtransactions.

But they also know that to keep people paying for those microtransactions, they have to make a big successful title once in a while, and to do this they have to put their most talented people on the projects that need it most. If she doesn't wind up continuing on with the new direction for the product, Henning will definitely be shifted over to another big in the works project like DA4.

Problem with that theory is Visceral Games was always an internal studio, just renamed. Apparently there were some problems with the game and other factors, but that's only going other reported rumours.

Just found out there was a leaderboard for the beta... through a message on xbox live telling me I won a prize for being in the top 1000.

    I was 809th.

Won a free month of xbox live.

    Cool start to the day.

Wow, literally no one talking about the hilarious shit storm going on surrounding this game?

The EA community time is breaking records for the most down voted comment of all time. People are mobilizing to contact Disney, which is now planning on turning the old servers for the original version of the game back on.

EA has already tried to quash the flow of negative PR by changing the cost of the heroes (Vader, the PC and a few others) but it seems like too little too late. News media are publishing articles on this all over, although most are gaming focused websites or personal blogs through normally credible websites like Forbes.
