    It hasnt been consistently great since Smith was at the helm. The Capaldi era has about a dozen or so AMAZING episodes, and many more good episodes than stinkers on average. The Whittaker era has maybe 3 great episodes, and the rest are mid to abysmally awful. The 3 RTD2 specials with Tennant were all a return to good high quality Doctor Who, but I'm not certain anyone is going to be looking back on them as storytelling powerhouses.     The plot of the Christmas special was bit meh, but I really liked Ncuti. He's got lots of personality and energy and a great big infectious smile that reminds me a lot of Tom Baker.     Yeah I have no problem with the "message". It's a great message tbh; a well-intended take on trans representation. There were other moments that were really trans positive AND totally realistic.     I thought The Star Beast was a good episode. Not a great one, but a very good one, and a solid return to form in virtually every aspect. Loved loved loved Miriam Margoyles as Beep.     A meh finale. Fitting, I'd say, given how pure meh even the best of Jodie's episodes are. Truly unfortunate she had such a lackluster group of writers behind her. I liked all the Doctor cameos, and I enjoyed Ace (lol Tegan still sucks). Liked the regen scene itself too, and chucked with the callback to 10's old lines, but aside from these things, I was supremely unentertained. Bring on RTD2.

    Capaldi got a lot of very good writing in his second season. Some of the best writing in the series tbh. Apart from 'Sleep No More', that whole season is just consistently good. 'Heaven Sent / Hell Bent' usually ranks among the best all time DW eps for most people. Apart from 'Listen' and the Missy arc, his first season however is a bit meh.     RTD era's worst scripts (Fear Her, Love and Monsters, etc) are on par with Chibber's best, so I'm really not worried about that. No real thoughts about the new Doctor beyond me sorely hoping that this is not his costume. Never seen in him in anything, and I have zero desire to go watch Sex Education. He won a SBAFTA though and has some comedic chops (unlike Jodie), so hopefully he'll be a good fit.

    Time has shown us that an "It was fine" episode is basically the best Chibbers can do. But also, really not digging the Yaz/Doctor romantic subplot that they've been trying to build. Hope it gets shut down quickly, A) because Yaz is an uninteresting piece of wood, and B) because trying to shoehorn any romantic angle into the final episodes of probably our most asexual NuWho Doctor to date is just blegh.

    Thought Ep 3 was pretty weak. Ep 4 could have been great but Chibbers has no idea how to maintain fearful suspense. Every conflict with the angels was almost immediately explained/resolved, and he basically flat recycled the Angels on a spaceship episode beat for beat.

    I think episode 2 was probably one of the best things to come out of Chib's pen during his tenure, although that's still at "only okay" levels when compared to RTD/Moffat highs.     Yeah... NuWho won't be canceled anytime soon. Even with the dwindling ratings since the Matt Smith era, it's still one of the BBC's biggest earners both in advertising revenue and merchandising. Unless you're talking about just canceling Jodie/Chibnall's final season and going right to a new Doctor, and to that I say "How would that satisfyingly work?"

    I'm not going to lie, I hated this most recent episode, and for reasons that sort of apply to Jodie and Chibnall's entire run so far. This iteration of the Doctor is just so... explanatory? She almost always has a big dialogue chunk that pounds the central conflict of the episode into the audience's head. Previous NuWho Doctors really only ever half-explained a thing, and it was usually done with a truckload of whimsy and silly pseudoscience (e.g. "cup o soups" and "timey wimey wibbly...

    I think my main problem with Jodie's Doctor is that they haven't committed to any character traits for her yet. She has touches of zaniness, touches of humor, touches of seriousness, touches of emotive drama, but they never quite fully explore any of these, so she comes off as a bit boring. Also, I think they need a decent overarcing plot this time around. Now would be a perfect time for the Valeyard and shenanigans from other Time Lords.

    You'll see. He's always sort of affable and positive and bumbling, but in his later series he starts to display a sort of underlying devious gamesmanship to make people do what he wants. He is definitely a talker and a manipulator.     Most of the classic companions save for Sarah Jane, Ace, Jaime, Romana, and Lethbridge-Stewart are all exceptionally one-note and painfully tiresome to watch onscreen. Leela is also exceptionally one-note, it's just a different note than the rest of them.     The series finale was much MUCH better than the last several episodes. It had Ryan and Graham go through some real emotional growth (Yaz continues to be a bit of an 'afterthought companion'), and Jodie had some good Doctor-y lines. That said, the plot was not anywhere near interesting enough for a finale episode, and the Stenza / Tim Shaw are just overtly boring antagonists. Pretty disappointing season overall. Hoping they get some better writers pronto.

    Thoroughly disliked the mud people episode. Crappy effects, silly plot, and Cumming was so over-the-top theatrical he broke my immersion every time he opened his mouth. This and the spider episode were probably the weakest so far.
