Few thoughts: 1) Robert was trained by Jon to be Lord Paramount, further the war might have opened his eyes to what Lords neglect can do to its people. Stepping into becoming King, is more easier than for Eddard who was raise to be a North version of a Knight to be Lord Paramount. He needs to learn two words: delegation and review/inspection.     I read the fic @Download mentioned up to chapter 17. Not sure what to think, it is a guilty pleasure at best. Some characters characters is diminished 1) Ned is dumber than canon, and the author follow the crap of Honorable Ned to the bitter end and clueless as well. 2) Catelyn is more cruel to Jon 3) Benjen appears to be useless. 4) Robert is more cruel and dumb My biggest problem with the fic, is Ned His decisions and reasons for them.     Is it the one where all the ducks sort themselves in a row for Jon later push? Where Robert unknowingly does everything to empower Jon? While secretly everyone want the return of the Tagaryan and Marry Jon to his aunt? It is like no one in Westeros has a clue why Incests is a poor way to go.     No, If I wanted Tywin Ned, I will ask for it. Not to mention Tywin is quite medicore, his luck was, that the opposition was worse and plot armor. I'm asking for a Ned, with more realistic approach. Just someone who spent the last decade and half ruling the largest kingdom in Westeros, knows a little bit about power and politics than canon Ned. That in KL he had no power, (he didn't have the muscles to claim it) After all Jaime tried to teach him a lesson and it didn't stuck.

    It is like most authors have no understanding of feudal duties. They understand what the vassal owe to his lord, but ignore totally what the lord owe to his vassal.     The Red Wedding was useful tool to cripple all the north leadership. They killed the king, and took hostage many of the nobles. Maybe they will keep Catelyn alive.
