    Its bleedover from Web Serials that have made it big, and where that kind of business model works. Likening a Lets Play Youtuber or streamer to a fanfic person though is a bit of a stretch. I don't understand why anyone would pay anyone to do that, but as long as people keep doing it, you're going to get shit artist that keep doing that. .     That seems to be coming back. People like to beat the shit out of the MC otherwise they're not interesting. Its the exact reason why I don't read Hurt/Comfort, among other reasons. It takes the place of writing an interesting character without having to use shitty life/backstory as an intro to conversatioin. "Hello, I'm Harry.     Its a decent change of pace, admittedly. But if your POV count is > 4 then you've got too many. I understand author burnout, especially from the same POV, but the thing is most people don't know how to develop a character, and its usually evident who they like the most when reading their POV because they get the more developed story line.     LOL, who you throwing shade at friend? I read something today about Hogwarts Sentience. I think ultimately I like this underlying thought behind this idea, but I have never seen it executed well. Also, as a throw back, wand crafting. Read a fic where his wand was made by him just casting his magic out to feel the materials and got the most super wand ever. Reminded me of all the indy fics where as his first bit of rebellion he got a second wand, or a wand more in tune to his magic.

    We've peddled our fair share of shit. Nothing ages well. So it really, truly boils down to if you like it or not. If you like it, chances are other people like it. The community is too scarce to curate your experience anymore because there are so many fics and ideas that haven't aged well at all. So, most fics are YMMV anymore versus a hard 5/5 type rating.     Why does magic need some kind of corny latin phrase. I always picture that as a mark of older fics trying to be badass. Magic is cool, but it doesn't need an incorrect literal translation for it to be cast. Also, isn't Fiendfyre canon, as in, that's the actual incantation? Cause I mean, Goyle was able to cast it.
