    Yeah, absolutely. She was talking about joining and setting sail to see the world since she was introduced. Having the decision not to join happen off-screen and introduced the moment that they're leaving? It doesn't seem natural, whatever happened. Oda's usually a few chapters ahead, so this was likely the last one he drew before the month-long break. Don't get it. Unless, of course, she's stowing away on the ship like Oden did, to really be like him.

    Well, that's episode 1,000. Pretty fantastic. They went all out on the animation, as expected. I'd heard they were pulling in a lot more animators; folks wanted to be a part of the 1,000th episode. Reading my post at the top of this page, from a year ago, "The final battle should be coming up shortly." A year's short, right? Still enjoying it all. The Raid has been a fun read, though I wonder if it's even going to be successful.

    Enjoyed the arc well enough, and it's going to make a good entry into the Reverie now that we've had a face to face meeting with most of the super powers that will be joining. God, this newest chapter (today. Altered time because of Golden Week) was fun. Transition chapter, so nothing plot relevant, but satisfying to read.     God, I love One Piece. It's just so good. People will complain about mediocre chapters or the occasional slow arc and whine, but at the end of the day Oda just writes good story. This whole arc has been pretty amazing.

    Jesus christ, those final pages were amazing. Luffy's pledge was so One Piece. Somewhat silly on the surface, but when you take everything into account it's so incredibly meaningful. I love this manga. Edit: And, having refreshed, I see I'm in the minority. Man, I don't know, I guess I just felt it and you folks didn't.

    We're getting a hell of a lot of information about Sanji's family, not just their behavior. The east blue invasion and how they scale the walls to get to the other oceans is awesome. I don't know, I feel like we're getting plenty of stuff that's valid, not just that Sanji's family are dicks, and I'm enjoying the last couple chapters that we've spent on it. Heck, getting more backstory about any of the Straw Hats is pretty cool. I'm still waiting on more about Brook and his life.

    They took a small break to do some Sabo stuff, and that was nice, but their general strategy so far is to cut filler and instead just drag out episodes to match the one chapter a week pace. I didn't mind the Sabo mici-arc, and I wouldn't mind more filler to be honest, but it works as is. Just as a side note, because we're talking about the anime - Fuck Toei. God, I hate that they're the ones that do One Piece. I wish so much that we could get the Hunter x Hunter treatment and get a full...

    While I think there certainly has been some increase in set-up time, I think the majority of the irritation people feel is the difference between blasting through already established content vs. hitting the end point and being forced to follow week-to-week.

    Yeah, but Aokiji and Akainu are both Logia? We've never actually seen an Awakened Zoan, have we? The only reference we have to them is that they're really tough and recover quickly from damage. I just think it's a bit reaching to extrapolate that all three wildly different types of fruit "Awaken" in the exact same manner.

    Chapter 544, page 12 is seemingly the only other time "awakening" has been mentioned, specifically in reference to Zoan's. Crocodile just says: "They're 'Awakened' Zoan-type fruit users, of course they'll get up again! Their toughness and resilience is something else."

    I think influencing the world around them might be more restricted to Paramecia fruits, like Doffy's and Luffy's. An Awakened Zoan would have a different "Awakening," possibly. A lot of this is all speculation and such, of course.

    I gotta admit, I'm kinda hyped about Awakening and what it could mean. I know a lot of people get upset at powerups and all that, but I have faith in Oda that whatever he pulls out will be unique and fun. It's interesting, seeing the reactions. We've got a bare bones statement that some kind of higher level exists, and already folks are condemning the entire system. I'm looking forward to finding out what it is. :D

    I think Doflamingo's abilities being expanded upon to this level is just a consequence of the New World. We've entered a place where we're starting to hit these monster-level fruit users that have had to compete with Logias (which have been considered the top tier so far). So what we're getting is an expansion of Paramecia abilities from people who've had to compete with Logia power fruits to survive. Just like Luffy adapted the Gum Gum to create Gear Second and Third.
