@Gemma Hey do you mind posting that dC case you built but didn't feel good about? or any of those other cases you apparently build just to see if you feel good about them? I'm tryna get into the Gemma mindset but lack a lot of background info

I deleted it in shame after he claimed. There's a bunch of stuff in my ISO though, if you want to get into my mindset it shouldn't be too hard? What do you mean by background info?

This is the kind of post I don't think wolf!Vaimes makes easily on D1. When Vaimes pokes people when he's a wolf, you can almost feel him reaching for a way to sound reasonable scumreading them, or there's some very mushy hedging. This is just... free and easy.

    @Cobalt

    This is literally never w/w.

That is just... not ever how Vaimes talks to a partner. Maybe Vaimes went out of his mind after last game and just like, can pull off this kind of smooth distancing now, but I really really don't think so.

It's just too... snarky/guarded. Look how casually Vaimes is pushing on Waco here. It's not even really a weighty/heavy push, it's still fairly early in the game, but from Vaimes's PoV it's like.... this is something that's gonna be looked at 100% later in the game. He can't possibly think wolf!Waco/wolf!Vaimes make it to the end here. Not with their track record. And yet there's no real... care/agenda.

Dunno how to articulate it better, but this would be an exchange wolf!Vaimes would be super self conscious of, if a wolf and Waco is his buddy.

So yeah, w/r/t your Waco/Vaimes world, that's gonna be a no from me dawg.

That's also not how wolf!Vaimes lampshades the fact that he's simultaneously voting with his partner while pushing on them. Like... he might notice that five seconds after he voted dC, but he doesn't just... kinda brush it off like that. He panics in his QT for a bit and then either does something else, hides, or outs himself super awkwardly lampshading it.

This kind of low-effort swipe at fonti is >rand town!Vaimes. In the world where Vaimes is a witch, he knew fonti was town the whole game, and still felt comfortable just like... lowkey shading her after he kinda beat her last game and she'd be like, hyper wanting to not read him wrong again? Would be pretty shocked.

So Cobalt/Vaimes are never w/w, considering the way Cobalt went after Vaimes toDay in the world where the team was shadow/Vaimes/Cobalt just... no. That's now how this works, dot jpeg.

So this post, if Vaimes is a wolf, he knows both Cobalt and myself are town. So the "failing to consider Cobalt/Newcomb worlds" is just a lazy slip, like he's got the correct reasoning for Cobalt being town, because he also knows Cobalt is town and it's just lazy meta whatever, but then he points out the the laziness of that read and doesn't do literally anything else with it? Again, this is just not how Vaimes rolls as a wolf.

Maybe this is his one free one against me, but I'm going to keep reading him on the stuff I know until it doesn't work. (He said, for the 15th time)

Vaimes/Waco aren't w/w, so this would be wolf!Vaimes kind backdoor ganging up on town!Waco with his partner shadow. This is hard to describe, but it's almost like... marginalizing Waco in a way, like Vaimes/shadow kind of putting him under a lens. That's just... not something Vaimes can pull off to a partner, I don't think, not when he knows it's wrong, and the person he's engaging with his his buddy and they're just right out there in the open exposed in their wrongness.

This is responding to my thing on shadow where I quoted those two things about my copypasta and voted him for it. Like... wolf!Vaimes really does not chastise town me like that for a correct read. He just doesn't. I mean he could maaaaaybe do it in kind of a "I know why my partner is mafia and you're not wolfreading him for the right reason thing but Vaimes follows it up with -

I know I'm kind of opening myself up to being dunked on at some point for this aspect of how I read Vaimes, but... he really doesn't think I'm gonna vaporize him for that?

Shadow literally replaced into a scumslot this game. So wolf!Vaimes's mindset here is to just, for no reason, say the thing that literally happened that makes the previous paragraph about his partner's meta that he's trying to clear him for less correct and then say he's "not counting that" for literally no reason.

Just like... put yourself in Vaimes's head here, making that post, knowing you're taking about your partner.

There's so much that looks so bad for no gain.

This also lines up with how town!Vaimes approached shadow in The Office, so like. What are the odds here - that wolf!Vaimes went out of his mind and leveled his play out of nowhere, or that he's just town?

Look at the bit about him not being able to process my scumread of shadow, the mindset slip thing. Mentioning it made more sense when Gemma described it. Like.... that's just town genuinely considering the thing he's currently thinking about and thinking out loud. As a wolf, what... is the point of saying that? Where did that thought come from? Like, Gemma is his partner? And he's doing some kind of like... elaborate triple bluff distancing off one sentence that'll only matter in like 1/1000 worlds where she AND shadow end up outed or something?

Play the odds. Vaimes is town in the vast majority of worlds here.

Same as before; it's too eye-catching for w/w I think, insofar as he's saying this about his partner.

Adding the bit about the weaksauce townread is not something I'd expect there if he's shadow's partner. Wolf!Vaimes doesn't hedge when he goes for the bus.

This is D2, but before I out the smooth-handshaked redcheck I got from the Priest.

He's doing the same thing he's been doing all game, which is just kind of like.... lowkey but not going through the motions poking at things that niggle at him, like he did with Waco and shadow and me/Stanari to a lesser extent D1. It's also a follow through of his dC wierdness read D1. My point is that even though I outed fairly fast, he's not just waiting around for the check, nor is he swinging at shadow for cred. He's just... doing things.

Compare/contrast to Waco's only post D2 before the redcheck:

    And just for kicks, shadow's:

Clicking around the part of the game right after the check, this kinda stood out.

It... makes the shadow/Waco/Asmo pretty fucking goofy, tbh.

I mean... maybe? Like, in that world, Waco's playing some super hard unalignments, what with his drawn out fight with shadow D1. Maybe he's just pushing his chips into the middle here and sees the writing on the wall with his partner.

If that's the case, though, I really can't imagine him not telling Asmo to yolo soup last night.

So shadow maaaaaybe didn't mention the specifics of how he was going to fakeclaim (might have just said "Gambler" not "Gambler with even night picked"), but in the world where Vaimes is his partner, I just super don't buy Vaimes not immediately seeing what he was going for there - the fact that he didn't have a choice since silver would have locked that in pregame - and I also super don't buy Vaimes would fake not knowing.

    ______

    That good enough for everyone?

Tl:dr, Vaimes is a villager, I'm giving him the Newcomb Seal of Approval, you can go ahead and drag me postgame if this turns out to be his One Free Win.

Newcomb, tom - mechanically clear villagers

dC - probably going to be mechanically cleared and dead villager

    Vaimes - meta clear villager

    That leaves, what.

    Cobalt, Asmo, Waco, Gemma.

    1 or 2 in those 4.

    Idk.

Don't super see Waco/Asmo as a real world, considering Waco's reaction to the shadow redcheck.

Waco/Gemma could maybe work? Come to think of it, can't really remember either of them doing anything much with the other.

    Cobalt/Waco is a no.

Cobalt/Gemma would be pretty lolmeta, but like... technically possible?

Cobalt/Asmo.... I mean you could argue that Cobalt swinging for the Vaimes/Waco world makes this possible, I suppose. Doesn't smell right, can't think of a reason offhand to hard rule it out.

Gemma/Asmo would be pretty relying on Gemma for the hard carry here. Could buy the Jan into fonti shot, as this would be a shadow/Asmo/Gemma team that had two replacements and doesn't know the setup well. Not... super sure what the plan is here for Gemma, other than like, just relying on the meta clears to carry? Could have some good rolereads, hope to get 3-4 tonight? Would expect to see her lobbying hard for Waco in that case so Asmo can yolosoup instead of having to burn hers, which is probably a game-loser.

Hum. None of those really seem to fit how the game has gone, exactly.

Feel like I'm missing some key angle here.

Looking at those pairings I kind of want to be optimistic and believe one of Jari/Stanari was a hit, because I'm having trouble coming up with a team that really clicks as making sense. Probably not a wise idea, though.
    --- Post automerged ---
Like, in a sane world, Cobalt and Gemma should just be villagers, considering the weight of the meta town reads.

But that means the team is literally shadow/Waco/Asmo and like... the fuck is the plan here? The fuck kind of bizzare reaction to your partner getting redchecked is "hey guys I think my partner TMI slipped that my other partner is a wolf." ?????

So what you're saying is vaimes is either town or is gonna replace me as "player Newcomb levels himself most while trying to read"?

    Deal.

I don't level myself reading you, I just don't have a great handle on the reasons you do things as a villager.

The fact that this is somewhat accurate is both funny and frustrating.
