So on the one hand, we have the Gemma/Asmo interactions from yesterDay.

And on the other hand, we have a Vaimes/Gemma team with Vaimes approving that bonkers soup list, Vaimes distancing out of his mind from shadow D1, and going "yeah Gemma go ahead and soup, I can definitely carry this to endgame."

20,000 foot view:

If Vaimes is mafia, he's played both simultaneously really well (interactions about shadow D1, emulating town tone) and really badly (mechanical mistakes when he's familiar with the setup enough to know better), at the same time.

If Asmo is mafia, that interaction with Gemma yesterday was like..... suuuuper dirty.

Having a hard time believing one of them is the case, but one of them has to be.

I think regardless of Vaimes being mafia or not, but definitely if he is, we need as a group to move away from leaning so heavily on each other to meta-clear certain players, or even like... meta daypass them? The echo chamber gets a little rough at times, it makes games feel really similar to each other, and especially in small games it makes it kind of... not sure what the right word is. Unfair? Like, I shouldn't be able to look at a playerlist of 13 people and go "yeah I can say with 90% accuracy that the D1 lynch will be one of these three people" before the game is randed.

Gonna be something I'll have to address in my own play, for sure, but really only something we can do as a community.

I mean, faking the emotion behind them to each other would be 100% to look unaligned. Like, look at how much of Asmo's play this phase is about making sure his ducks are in a row with how he's played, kind of like, justifying the mechanical things he's done, etc. In a witch!him world the Gemma stuff is just an extension of that, and for both of them to like, collaboratively put that bit of theater into the thread is pretty...

I don't know either of them super well, but most players would draw at using that kind of vitriol to spew each other unaligned, just on a like, "that's just not cricket" level.

It's also at a certain point giving constant road maps to "what I have to do to fool you" and turns quickly into nuclear proliferation.

I think the general trend on this particular forum is to get really bogged down on the specifics and look for meaning in everything when I don't think anyone here actually makes a high percentage of posts they couldn't make as either alignment.
