Tom recently said they won't appear, but MCU actors lie all the time these days since any refusal to comment will be confirmation to everybody. If they're in, they will be in the trailer because Sony will definitely use them to promote this film even more.

 

Yeah I’m hesitant to take that as a definitive.

 

Pretty sure Tom Holland also explicitly said the Marvel producers have intentionally hidden things from him, including script pages until it was time, because he has leaked content multiple times.

 

Several actors from Spider-Man 3 received the title of the film. Or titles, as all of them received a different one.

Tom Holland got "Spider-Man: Phone Home", Jacob Batalon got "Spider-Man: Home Wrecker" and Zendaya got "Spider-Man: Home Slice."

Either one of them is real or all of them are fake.

We're getting some rendition of One More Day this point aren't we?

 

It would be something if MCU did OMD only to have their Spidey be better than comic version and not agree to Mephisto's deal. Probably not going to happen if Disney really expect China to censure their films if they have a devil in them.

 

The Premise of one more day doesen't work here since it relies on several things such as

• Aunt May getting shot by Spider-man's enemies. This doesen't work well since Peter doesen't currently have any free/living enemy who'd try to assassinate him. I guess they could have some no name do it, but that would be cheap.
• MJ and Peter actually having a real relationship. They literally just started dating in the last movie and they're both sixteen, thats nothing compared to a several year old marriage.
• Nobody other than Mephisto being able to heal a gunshot wound. Ignoring how ridiculus that premise is, they already established the possibility several times, and considering that Wakanda is now sharing it's technology with the world, it's really hard to believe that Peter couldn't get May medical attention.
• A established Devil existing and being there to offer a deal. Neither Mephisto nor any other Devil has been in a previous MCU movie, the closest is probably Surtur and he really doesen't work for the role.

I highly doubt it would follow the story beats so closely.

Mephisto is getting teased in Wandavision and I would bet money he'll appear in Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of madness.

Secondly, it's not that hard to imagine a scenario where Mephisto offers Peter a deal, not to save Aunt May, but rather to remove his identity getting shared with the world.

 

Oh, they're most likely going to reset the whole Identity being revealed thing, but I highly doubt the story is going to resemble one more day in any meaningful way. And Peter doesen't really have anything worth sacrificing to Mephisto at this point.

Personally I am going to guess that they'll introduce some Spider-Totem bullshit with the Great Weaver ending up altering part of the Web of Life and Destiny, which would allow the MCU to retcon anything they dislike and even introduce things such as Deadpool or the Fantastic 4.

 

MCU rarely uses anything from comics as it happened in the comics. If OMD would happen in any way, it would probably end up as a joke scene where Mephisto proposes his help and Peter refuses in some funny way making it a sort of a wink to fans.

 

Remember the odd thing about the MCU is Spider-Man is literally the only hero with a secret identity. The rest of them just run around using their names.

When it comes to the idea of One More Day, I'd also say there's an issue with it because the MCU hasn't put as much emphasis on the importance of Aunt May to begin with. In terms of cinematic/storytelling weight for the MCU films, Tony Stark's been the main focus as Peter's parental figure. Homecoming is all about Peter trying to prove himself to Tony, and Far From Home is all about him processing Tony's death and the idea that he has to help carry on his legacy.

Though that does bring to mind the idea of using a One More Day style plot, except it's finding some way to bring Tony Stark back from the dead. This would make for a decent storytelling hook, but you couldn't make it work without RDJ and all indications are he's done with the MCU. Plus it wouldn't mesh that well with Peter coming to terms with Tony's death in Far From Home.

 

If WandaVision introduces Mephisto OR simply makes Agatha fill his role as the Deal-Maker, perhaps.
