What kind of moral dilemmas are you expecting from the series though?

The only time I can see Loki being presented with any kind of meaningful dilemma is when he is given the opportunity to save his Mom.

Other than that, he is a god with little to no regard for life except his and his family's.

Firstly I think that you're misrepresenting Loki - that is certainly how he started, but I think they're doing to emphasise the fact that he's grown as a character over the course of the films.

As for moral dilemmas, I could see various ways that an involuntary agent of a fascistic government being forced to hunt to down another version of himself through all the worlds of the multi verse/through all of history and the future could find himself in moral dilemmas.

This. Also, if we find out that the TVA literally destroys alternate timelines when they "reset" them and they get the Shield treatment I will not be surprised.

Hot take: Variant Loki and Antagonist Loki are the same timeline and Loki fulfills his promise of "burning this place to the ground," like he did at the end of EP 1.
edit: Spoilered just incase, but just go watch the damn episode lol

Given that this is the all purpose MCU thread, should discussion of Loki be in spoiler tags/ a dedicated thread? I don't think there's been anything especially spoiler-ry so far, but still.

Anyway, caught up on the first episode tonight, intriguing start with a few fun moments, but I still think Wandavision had it beat for grabbing my attention. Looking forward to seeing how it develops though.

There are some interesting rumors that we’ll see Lady Loki in this, and I could totally see her being the Loki killing machine they’re hunting.

I haven't seen the show yet, but isn't this the Loki from the end of the firdt Avengers movie? I don't think he has really grown at all at that point.

    Yep.

They tried to "bring him up to speed" with current Loki in terms of growth with a home videos bit, but yeah, immediate post-Avengers Loki, just one who witnesses some of the major turning points of his "future" life.

Realistically, I don't think he would grow much. But Hiddleston sells the fuck out of this moment and you can almost suspend your disbelief that he 'became' Endgame Loki in just under a minute.

Maybe not became, but maybe knows he could be, and the season will be him choosing the path he takes.

One thing to note about Avengers Loki is that he was confirmed to be influenced by the Mind Stone at the time:

“Arriving at the Sanctuary through a wormhole caused by the Bifrost, Loki met the Other, ruler of the ancient race of extraterrestrials the Chitauri, and Thanos. Offering the God of Mischief dominion over his brother’s favorite realm Earth, Thanos requested the Tesseract in return. Gifted with a Scepter that acted as a mind control device, Loki would be able to influence others. Unbeknownst to him, the Scepter was also influencing him, fueling his hatred over his brother Thor and the inhabitants of Earth.”

This was a fan theory for a long time that they officially added to his character description, but it honestly always made sense. Aside from small things like eye color, he acts massively different in that movie compared to his other appearances. You also have scenes like the Avengers arguing around the sceptre with dutch angles everywhere and everyone acting more aggressive and Bruce even picks the damn thing up in anger. Some real One Ring vibes from it in the movie itself, so confirming the theory feels right.

This isn't to exonerate Loki of all guilt or anything, he still did these things and wanted to conquer earth to spite his brother, but it goes a long way in explaining why Loki can barely look at his actions on earth and why he's roughly a million times less genocidal in every other appearance.

I'm agree with you. This epsiode jumps straight into the weird and wonderful world of Loki with some of the MCU's most complex and interesting ideas. We get hints to the MCU future and this is the first show that I feel is closest to movie level and it feels like its a part of the MCU not a side journey. This episode ends on a slight cliff hanger and it keeps you gripped.

I also really loved this episode.

It established one important thing. Loki is up to something and his discovery of the apocalypse hiding spot is not a coincidence.

I just love that he is not neutered because he turned good.

Mobius and the TVA are greatly underestimating him and I am hoping he will prove them wrong.

Not a fan of lady Loki though.

Felt her performance was kind of meh compared to our main Loki.

Hopefully given more in-depth scenes the actress can match Tom's performance.

Woody is just amazing at his role. I don't know I just love how he plays Mobius as Wry but still enthusiastic character.
He really does feel like an otherworldly kind of immortal character.

So what do you guys think the true intention of the TVA is?

Is there an actual Sacred timeline or are they currently trying to establish a "sacred timeline"

Last Point: They should have really hired a fight choreography. The action here is complete and utter garbage. Lol, I think anyone with enough time can do better than the pure excuse of a fight scene we got here.

Also, isn't Loki a god. Shouldn't he be able to overpower any human being? Or is super-strength reserved for Thor?

I just find it unbelievable watching a god of magic physically struggle with human beings.
Like why not just teleport away?
    Why not use any magic?
Especially after specifically showing us that Loki can use his magic outside HQ?

This is the same glaring plot hole as the Winter Soldier sprinting to the lead truck and "infiltrating" it right in front of the rear driver.

Lol seriously, who edits these shows???

They didn't show it well, but I believe the intent was that FemLoki's strength passed to the possessed individual. But also no, Loki has super strength but he is not anywhere near as physically powerful as Thor. Probably weaker than your average Asguardian, as he's basically a midget Frost Giant.

As for why he didn't use magic and decoys, yeah that's a pretty glaring plot hole.

My best guess on that is he wasn't ever serious about the fight. He was pretty clearly more interested in finding out what Lady Loki is up to than stopping her, and pretending to lose a fight in order to get a villain monologue going sounds like the kind of move Loki would make.

Or it's just another case of power levels in the MCU being wonky, but comics in general have always had that issue.

Everyone is saying lady Loki. Did I miss where that was announced? As it seems people are jumping to conclusions here.

She could be lady Loki, but i think it’s perfectly possible she is someone else.

Because that's what the show has presented her as so far. We have no other frame of reference besides this.

While she's probably Lady Loki, the fact that she has blonde hair is a little weird. It's a weird detail when you want a character to be a version of other character.

Does anyone else think that the extinction event hiding spot just doesn't make sense.

In fact, the TVA should be monitoring such events more because I believe people will travel back in time to prevent those extinction events from occurring or save people from them.

If people go back in time for something as petty as getting rich, surely they do it for such events too, no?

As for Lady Loki, it was stated that she has the same Aura ID as Loki

If they took action to stop it they would get caught, creating events orcwhat ever they were called.

But living during those times is fine because everyone dies and thus you have no impact.
