The movies are visual, in that they have actors portraying the characters. As such, if you look at the movies, you will see the Weasleys portrayed by people in costume. In comparison, the book is a written piece of media, so words portray the characters. If you looked into the book, then you would find that the word "Ron" represents Ron.
