Hypothetically...Vampyre's and Veela are polar opposite's.

Vampyre's are avatar's of death, and by extension cold. For death is cold.
Veela are avatar's of life. They can change into many life-forms. And as such, they also represent fire, for life burns hot.

    *Sage nod*

So when Fire and Ice meet...*Evil grin*

Assume Harry get's turned by an 1000 Year Old Ancient. But due to the influx of knowledge/ power, his mental state is...altered significantly. Psychopathic, Sociopathic, whatever you want. It'd be funny though.

    *Muses*

Just like Lycanthrope by Mister Cynical...damn good NGE fic.

Everyone always gives the Vampyre's guns or swords...what's wrong with a good old-fashioned neck-snapping, spine-ripping, eye-ball popping combat Vampyre? /sigh

You could write veela as creating so much excess emotional energy that a constant light feeding from a White Court vampire calms them down, like giving meth to an ADHD kid.

This resembles a one-shot, even though it will be continued.

The author's one of those fluff guys, and so the premise is well-adapted to his writing style.

The best part was how casual Lily and James were about Harry's future.

I've been lurking here abouts and this thread caught my eye. I will also add that I registered (something I rarely ever do) because I see that there is some actual conversation going on. Rather then the usual flaming/insult fests.

The above qouted comment really caught my eye. I agree 100%. If you want to do it. Do it. Just make it believable (unlike Canon).

Having read through some of the thread, I have to say that a lot of these ideas have some merit. I only wish that my writing skill didn't equate with HP magical skill (according to Canon at least. Puhleaze, defeating the most powerful Dark Lord in the last hundred years with a disarming spell? I personally would probably stand a better chance at defeating Voldemort with thrown rocks.)
I'll be posting more as soon as I get through the rest of this thread, and I would definitely be interested in bandying about some ideas and/or helping with plot/beta reading. Of course it would have to be with a decent writer.

... I woke up this morning craving Harry/Fleur. On my search through the dregs of FFN I discovered a shocking fact; There is a distinct lack of Dark-Harry/Dark-Fleur fics. I ask myself 'Why?' It has so much friggin potential >.> And it can't be that hard...

    E.g
Fleur, upon arriving at Hogwarts for the TWT, is disgusted by the fact all the Hogwarts boys are as bad as the French boys and are throwing themselves around trying to please here and she decides to go Dark to show she's more than just a Veela. Lo and behold sometime after or around the Second Task Harry stumbles upon her practicing Dark Magic. Harry, being essentially Magic Illiterate, Doesn't recognize it as Dark Magic since she isn't using the unforgivables. Fleur thinking 'Hey he somehow defeated an insanely strong Dark Lord. He must have some potential' decides to train him. Using a combination of the natural negative energy of the Dark Magic, her Veela Charm and her natural charm she corrupts him to become Dark.

    See? Not that hard!

    Oh, look! Another one!

Harry having never been the recipient of many Positive Emotions in his life finds himself subconsciously seeking out Fleurs' presence during GoF. In OOTP without the positive energy of the Veela Charm near him Voldemorts influence via the scar increases making him angry and violent. Knowing he's missing something from Fourth Year but now knowing what Harry begins to study. After learning the general school stuff he decides the answer can't be found in any 'light' books and starts learning 'dark' stuff. Somewhere near the end of the year or early 6th year the DADA teacher makes them do homework on all the 'Half-breeds' and what restrictions the MOM has on them. BAM Harry reads up in-depth on the Veela Charm and thinks 'Hrm. Those effects sound familiar. Do I know any Veela? Oh, that's right! Fleur!'
Harry decided to write a letter to Fleur under the pretence of asking for answers directly from the source for his Homework. Ordinarily Fleur would refuse but since Harry rescued her Sister she decides it can't hurt.

    BAM Communication.

There we go. Two Dark-Harry/Dark-Fleur story ideas with Romance as a sub-theme(Though still important part).

I see that most portrayals of Fleur have her disgusted at how the boys are treating her, unhappy due to her charm, happy that Harry can see past it, etc etc.

What I would like to see is Fleur as a seductress, using every advantage she can to get ahead, including her Veela charm. In the beginning this may conflict with Harry/Fleur since she is unlikely to find him attractive, underfed runt that he is.

Let us look at it through another way though. Fleur's chief desire is to rise up in society, using her charm, fortunes, popularity etc. Think something like Milady from the Three Musketeers. Initially she is very keen on meeting Harry, for she has heard a great deal of his achievements. She is initially severely disappointed, due to the fact that he seems rather useless and relying on Hermione for everything, instead of doing things himself. Her opinion of him begins to change after she witnesses the First Task, but due to her pride she is unwilling to change her attitude towards him.

The second task comes around, Harry saves Gabrielle, Fleur, whose one weakness seems to be her family, or more precisely her little sister, begins to warm up to him. Harry, unlike the canon imbecile is interested in an older French part-veela. From then on they can help each other.

Fleur brings some confidence and desire to succeed in battle, politically, and in life. Harry brings some humility in her, although she retains her prideful manner. Harry, wishing to impress her starts to change his way of doing things, gets rid of the Weasleys, begins to dream of a world where he commands what is to be done instead of going with the flow of events.

    The rest is history...

    Intriguing idea...

I have to point out that in any fic where Fleur is Dark, if we're being realistic she'd use her Charm whenever she could to get what she wanted/needed.

Hence my two ideas; In idea one she uses the Charm to help Corrupt Harry, though she's still disgusted that most males she meet fall prey to it when she isn't even trying. And in Idea two I didn't mention much of Fleur so if an Author takes it up they have more freedom writing her :p

That's a very interesting idea, Methy.

Never do we see Fleur actually enjoying and utilising her assets for advantage.

It's always, "Oh, I hate having these abilities" etc

    Why can't she enjoy them?

    /sigh

How's your Harry/ Fleur story comin Methy?

On another note, whata re the categories a Veela chooses a lover/ life partner on? Surely it can't be, and I know this sounds crass, but it just can't be based upon best breeding potential to give her the strongest children.

If so, she'd be doin it with Albus!

    *Shudder*

Most people think that to make her enjoy them they have to make it Whore-Fleur :\

And I expect it's mainly to do with breeding potential. Though it'd factor in age. After all the older you are the less time you'd be around to breed the children ;)

    So it's likely a cross between power/age.

But that last bit really really would've been best left in the confines of your mind >.<

The story is sadly just in an incipient phase. I found it close to impossible to focus on more than one story at the same time. I will see what I can do, but for now the only Harry/Fleur I will produce will be in Book 3 Of Blacks and Malfoys.

On a second note, I found a lot of authors tend to shy away from prideful, use all I can characters. Humility is overrated I believe, but it seems to be in fashion.

Probably a Veela would choose a partner based on their individual mentality. I don't like to see them as creatures with an urge to mate.

In this case, Fleur, wishing the best possible union, and the highest quality offspring would choose Harry Potter.:) There have been dark rumours about Albus Dumbledore.

Since we're all focussed on a Harry/Fleur pairing here, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on an original way for Harry/Fleur to meet. Instead of waiting until GoF to give them an introduction, but not by some corny Harry-goes-to-French-magical-school-since-Britain-couldn't-detect-his-magic-because-of-his-lighting-scar. Maybe more of an AU series instead of one simple AU plot, for instance.

Maybe bring back Voldemort sooner, make him more worthy of fear. Destruction of other magical schools besides Hogwarts, and only because that's Dumbledore's domain? That'd be a much more believable way to bring Fleur to Harry, I think. After a Voldemort-led attack on her own school, survivors are either privately tutored or taken in at other schools, as well as surviving staff. [Seems like a good way to get rid of Binns, at least] Since she knows Harry 'defeated' Voldemort as a baby, wouldn't she be more inclined to meet him, possibly train with him? Her anger at the destruction of her home school would also give her a much more believable way to begin the descent into madness or 'dark magic'.

I'd be happy to kick ideas around with anyone who wants to go with something that isn't a recycled possibility from the canon series.

By the end of Harry's 3rd year, Sirius Black is rumored to have escaped to an unplottable estate on the Continent and France sends an auror contingent to the UK to gather information on the fugative. Raoul Delacour, Fleur's father, heads the investigation. He travels to Britain to question Dumbledore, Harry, and others at Hogwarts about Black. He brings his daughter along, since she has always wanted to see Hogwarts and meet the famous Albus Dumbledore and 'Arry Potter. (It's borderline unprofessional, but Raoul has never been able to deny his daughter anything that she has her heart set on). Harry is brought to Hogwarts for the interview. After his meeting with the aurors, Harry is asked to give Fleur a tour of Hogwarts while Dumbledore speaks with the French aurors.

A possible AU continuation is that Harry avers Sirius's innocence and shows a pensieve memory of Pettigrew. Delacour agrees to drop the investigation into Black and France offers amnesty, which is accepted. Delacour offers to help Harry continually meet with his godfather over the summer and Harry does so on multiple occasions. He befriends the avuncular French auror (chance to write a decent OC here) and becomes close to the man's family. Dumbledore agrees to allow Harry to return to France with Black for the end of the holiday, which gives Harry an opportunity to hook up with the veela.

Interesting and unique way for them to meet, eh?

    Let's see...

Fleur's Parents are up-and-coming French Dark Lord/Lady's. When they realize that every single French Auror and Hit Wizard is after them they flee to britain knowing that the government is so corrupt it'd only take some well placed Galleons for the French Aurors to be denied access. Harry meets Fleur on the Hogwarts Express. Maybe some older boys are harassing her because of the Veela Charm and Harry scares them off or something?(They'd run off because Harry's meant to have killed a Dark Lord). Usual first year antics apply. Second Year maybe Fleurs Parents are killed. They were like Family to Harry so both he and Fleur start to go dark to avenge them. If you want some humorous bits in the story then maybe Gabby survived and they have to look after her?

In nearly every story I've read her father is high-up in the French MOM and ends up as Minister of magic. Why the heck can't they be criminals?!

That sounds good, and can easily be written by utilizing the combination of a Basilisk and a Board of Governors meeting (with the Delacours present). This is also a convenient way to kill off any or all of the Malfoys.

You mean have the Basilisk kill off the Board of Governors? That wouldn't inspire Fleur and Harry to be all that dark :\

Maybe have the Basilisk kill Draco then Fudge blames the Delacours because of their Dark history and has them executed? Perhaps he tries to throw Fleur in prison and Harry somehow stops him? Hrm... If you make it that Dumbledore didn't interfere then it's a good way to make him against Dumbledore...

I just had a wild idea.

Similiar to Death, In Glory, except Harry is shot back to the Aztec time.

The Aztec's were a very powerful race for their technological capabilities, and a lot of their culture was based around blood, either the spilling of it or sacrificing of it.

So I was thinking, since that is very primal, if Harry learnt to be their equivalent of a war-mage?

And due to the blood, the sword's could be imbued to only cast it's magic when it encounters blood.

Throw in Harry returning to...say...5th or 6th year due to the attempted sacrifice of him to Quetzlacoatl or however it's spelt.

And since being a "Blood-Mage" as it were involves a great deal of primal instinct along with Veela's being the social epitome of primal sexual instincts...

    Just a crazy, whacked-out idea.

Add in Harry finding out his entire culture (Aztecian/ Mayan) was wiped out by the Spanish Conquistadorian fleet...

    A different idea.

In Harry's second year, Fleur get's thrown into Azkaban due to using her Veela powers whilst visiting Hogwarts on a student exchange/ visit organised by Dumbledore to showcase how grand Hogwarts is.

Have Harry somehow rescue her (He escaped a pissed off, randy Hungarian Horntail)...

Just ideas I spin, like a spider spins it's web.
