I feel that while reading your post you indicated that the daleks are machines.

They're actually organic beings inside metal suits.

I still say they have to bring back susan foreman in some way. Its plot point waiting to be used. That or romana, or something from the original series that we've all forgotten about. We're in an endless loop of daleks, cyberman and random aliens.

The Angels were the only truly unique villains since the series started again.

He used the term data because River told it to check it's records. :p

She better be some kind of god or something, otherwise how can she be worse than the man that almost single handedly wiped out both his own race and yours!

She doesn't have to be worse than him; simply more ruthless. The dalek believed that a companion of the doctor's was too sympathetic to them to kill them, but after checking for River realised that she was less merciful and thus there was a higher chance she'd actually kill it in cold blood.

The Doctor always gives his enemies a chance. He tries to help them. I doubt River would.

Hmm, that's true, but he has show to be somewhat merciless with the Dalek's especially in the past.

It's worth remembering though, that despite "destroying" the entire Dalek race, he didn't precisely kill them. He ended the war and timelocked it. Supposedly in an inferno, yes, but both the Time Lords and the Daleks still exist in a way, locked in Hell. In fact, both of them have still been able to effect the outside world, through various means.

Someone mentioned Omega possibly making a return. If that happened, they might link in The Doctor being the reincarnation of "The Other" and tbh, I don't know if Matt Smith could pull something that big in the Doctor Who universe off, David Tennant yes but Smith I doubt, and it could all go pear shaped if he fucked it up.

I'd say Smith had more chance than Tennant, Tennant never seemed alien or old enough for an Ancient Time Lord to me, yet Smith manages to capture that feel. As much as I liked Tennant's Doctor, I think Smith's Doctor is better.

Smith, to me at least, tries a bit hard at being strange and crazy and to me that's not alien, that's just weird. Tennant's Doctor really felt like a powerful being, especially near his regeneration, who you really could see "destroying" two powerful races whereas Smith doesn't seem the type. Yet.

There was just something about DT's presence that made me believe he could do all those things in the Time War.

I think it's partly due to the fact that Tennant was older, and has a bit more presence. That said I think Matt Smith has some hidden depths we haven't seen yet, I think he could pull it off.

You're probably right. I feel he tries really hard to be ancient and young at the same time and it's rather off putting sometimes. Hopefully he can pull it off, I just feel DT would have been the right man to sell the whole "The Otherr" storyline.

I'd agree that Tennant was a bit more intimidating, but on the other hand he had a lot more screentime to develop that. Smith can do it I think, just give him a chance. Also, I suspect part of it comes from the costume. It's a lot easier to come across as intimidating when you're wearing a longcoat than when you're wearing a tweed jacket and braces...
