Nah, Usopp will never be strong. Most of the time I hate him, too, unless he's in one of the moods where he's determined to help the crew.

Buggy a Shichibukai? Do it, Goverment.

I'm just wondering how we're going to manage waiting for 7 weeks and the 600th chapter.

Honestly, since Ivankov was likely one of the captains Dragon was talking about (Ivankov was pretty high up in the ranks. can't remember the exact position) imagine how powerful Dragon is for having 10 Ivankovs and Kuma characters on his side, powerwise.

Shichibikai Buggy ftw. Imagine if they consider Buggy a Yonkou, and picture Buggy in a room with Shanks, Big Mom, and Kaidou.

Yeah, just watched it and it is pretty good and I liked it, it was a ton of fun. Not as good as any of the arcs of the manga but still, for a movie it is leaps above the other OP movies.

My only point of critique would be that Shiki's attacks with his DF (creating earth and air lions and all that) didn't make any sense to me, even within the OP world. I thought he had to touch things in order to make them fly, but here he manipulates earth, where I am sure he couldn't have touched all of that and stuff.

Still, nothing to take away the enjoyment if you roll with it.

Robin firing a bazooka while wearing a suave black outfit has to be among the coolest things I have ever seen :awesome

The whole Straw Hat crew entrance was genius anyways. Totally worth seeing, alone for that.

Another thing that disturbed me that this movie seems kind of pointless. It is supposed to be part of canon, but what did it accomplish? Shiki's plan wasn't really all that great. They took nothing away from it, they didn't lose anything/anyone and they didn't gain anyone/anything. If Biri had joined, that would have made sense, having a flying crew member would have been nice but so, even if Oda wrote it, I don't know how exactly it is different from the other movies.

It seemed just to be another pointless movie battle which has no real impact on the plot/canon. Here I thought this time would be different.

All in all, it was a ton of fun, flying Islands, crazy animals, friendship, all the good things One Piece is famous for and even though the end battles were a bit of a letdown (Zoro and Luffy a bit) it was still an enjoyable experience.

    New chapter is just :awesome

Totally agree with Ner0, there is a reason why One Piece is just so damn good.

Any ideas what the gongs mean? To the crew I mean. Location, action, a person, a time reference?

I just thought it was Luffy calling his crew to him. 16 gongs, 2 for each of his crew members.

...What? How does that make sense? Where would his nakama know where to go?

    /me has no idea.

But yeas, cool chapter. Really feels like the epic beginning of a new arc. That's hopefully as awesome.

Only other thing that comes to mind is the Shandia bell which was to let that other guy know that there was a sky island. But Franky and brook were new to the crew and probably didn't know about it.

So maybe a reference to that?

I think it is a message that they will meet in the "New World" as it were. 8 gongs for first half the grand line which they have already crossed, 8 more for the "New World" which they will now travel/meet.

The only way to get there is through the Mermen Island.

    True.

Anyone else notice that Luffy seems to have an arm tattoo now? Think that means something?

Everyone noticed, no one knows a damn thing about what it says. Some people are suggesting that it's saying:

    Sabo
    Ace
Mr. 2 (Looks like it could be a 2, or an omega symbol)
    Whitebeard

    Something like that.

Well we all knew they'd have to get back to Sabaody Archipelago (sp?) eventually. The trick is not to go wandering around and get picked off by a PX. So Luffy leaves them a message. He circles the island in a stolen ship, a ritual for a burial at sea. He throws flowers on the damage the Isand sustained. He performed a silent prayer. All actions of respect and mourning for the dead. And he rung the Ox bell 16 times, a tradition of the New Year.

I think we'll be in for a couple more chapters of what everyone's up too then, for chapter 600, we'll get a time skip to all the Strawhats meeting at some kind of Memorial for those lost at sea on the SabaodyNew Year's celebration.

From the sounds of this chapter, Luffy is becoming a media darling.

I hope Luffy turns Kidd into a pulp, sure the pirates he caught suck but crucifying them seems like a jackass move. However I have to give props to Oda for being the only popular manga where people die, permanently.

Didn't people die in Naruto? and it looks like Bleach is going to have a couple of deaths occurring soon. Also OP hasn't really had any notable deaths. All of the dead people we see basically have no name and show up for one or two panels only as far as I can remember.

Kidd crucifying those pirates isn't a big deal. If you're going to be angry with him at least be angry over people that might actually deserve your sympathy. Remember back in the Shabondy arc, Shakky says that he killed civilians which was the reason he had a higher bounty than Luffy.

I disliked Kidd since the fight against the PX es where he, the guy with magnetic powers, didn't realize he was fighting cyborgs, you know, made out of metal and such...
