But he's naked and in a hot tub and Fleur wants to join him. That counts for something, no?

Not sure if this fic is already in here or not, too many pages to check.

    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6174426/1/Champions

It's a fairly good H/F fix compared to a lot of other stuff on FF.Net, and it's fairly readable, but it's definitely not library worthy, IMO. Too many problems.

    Too fluffy.

Too many cliches with respect to goblins etc.

Harry and the Delacours have too much plot armour.

But still, like I say, if you need a fairly well written H/F fix, you could do a lot worse.

It's been mentioned a few times. None, terribly well.

Dormant Blood is readable, the writing is decent. It has a great version of Daphne too, which in turn makes the biggest complaint the "slave-bond". Why the fuck anyone would write Daphne like this and then shred her personality with that crap half a chapter later is beyond me -- though I'm hoping that the AN in the second chapter was a hint that somehow, it actually isn't one. Dunno how the author thinks to weasel their way out there. So ignoring that, I liked it. Looking forward to updates.

Question: What happened to Blaise's fourth year story? I remember being awed by the first two chapters and then nothing. If nothing else, it had the potential to be one of those epics that come along every two years.

He has some more of it written, he just gets too distracted to post it. Annoy him on IRC.

I'm reading Dormant blood right now (half way through chapter 2) and Daphne's absolutely brilliant, so far (although if Sesc is to be believed this is about to change), she reminds me of what a young Bellatrix would've been like, but more reserved, I actually wish the author would ditch this retarded male veela shit and focus on the Harry/Daphne aspect.

EDIT: just finished chapter 3, and while Daphne is still awesome, I don't like the way the author has changed her character. She's not nearly as careful, cruel, or clever as she was in chapter 2, hell she went off and told Tracey what she was up to, I thought/hoped that she was going to obliviate her at the end of their conversation. I also don't like how quickly Daphne and Fleur appear to become friends.

The change in behavior does seem a bit off, but maybe there's an as yet undisclosed reason (eg, a stepping stone for one of her ploys/plots or a misdirection of some kind) for it?

I do like the fact that Harry's attitude and behavior are changing, though.

I disliked Harry's behavior, tbh. That part with that French witch was so totally unnecessary that I had to skim it... there was no point in that scene other than Harry testing his 'allure', which was done within like 2 paragraphs.

It did, however, display his new mindset/way of thinking. The allure test on that French 'bike' was an action originating from that...

Also, in 'HP and the World Beneath, I noticed that the summary now has 'Harry/Fleur friendship!' stamped on it: does this mean that it's not going to be a HP/FD pairing? Because if not, it'd be a damn shame; he's set up the character interactions very well, and to simply just go the 'friendship' route would be a horrid waste of story!win potential.

I have no problem with Harry's new attitude, or that he tries his allure out on girls, I had to gag at the x thousand words wasted on useless interaction between that French girl and him.

If I were mean, I'd say because the author is a pussy who admittedly has no idea of romance and doesn't dare writing any. The more objective view would be that he said the H/F romance part would, if explored, become an issue only in the sequel... or something like that. Doesn't mean there's gonna be a lack of fun interaction between those two, though.

So, in other words, there's a good chance that he's just either pussying out or 'pulling a Rowling'. Wonderful. :facepalm

The first. He has real, real qualms about writing anything remotely romantic, to the point I had to pressure him into some extra character interaction for the next chapter.

So I read Champions last night. Technically, the fic is a cliche ridden muckfest. On the other hand, the author clearly states that that's what it's going to be at the beginning of the fic. Friendly Goblins, Jealous Ron, Manipulative Dumbledore, Adoptive family, Golden marriage glow, So mote it be, Abused Harry, and cuntish Molly.

I bitched and complained about it in irc last night... but I kept reading. It's been so long since I've read a heavily cliched fic like this that I actually enjoyed it.

It's like trashy tv. Guilty pleasure trashy tv.

I get the feeling that most of his reviewers are going to rage/leave negative reviews, if he tries to backtrack from the Harry/Fleur set up that he's intentionally/unintentionally established. He may have qualms about writing romantic elements, as you've said, but if he doesn't it's going to epically blow up in his face.

Champions...it's chock full of horrid cliches, but it's entertaining: I just wish that it'd get updated, and soon!

What the fuck, guys? Champions? And I rec shit?

    My favourite quotes (entirely representative):

^---- Here I nearly broke my keyboard. Then I thought Harry might be pregnant. Trufax.

And when he isn't crying, he's "blushing adorably", and when he isn't doing that, he's "cringing fearfully." Someone hasn't got a grasp on Harry's character at all. Horribly failtastic emo-shit. Not even Fleur can save this one -- instead she joins right in, and is depressed because she looks so good.

    I reiterate: What the fuck?

Edit: I had a rant for Champions typed up months ago, but I can't find it now, so this will have to do :p
    Bleh.

Now, I was the one defending you buddy, so don't go all ragey on me ;)

    HP & World Beneath:
Yes they will. He does badly. In fact, I don't think I will stop harassing before he promises to go H/F in the end. Meh.
