Anyways, my thoughts on the matter until I can *ahem* watch it from the internet:

Sure you can be mad at HBO for not airing in Japan but they did an amazing job on the pilot. They did a nice job introducing all the characters and plot lines with the limited timeline they had. The only character I didn't like was Tyrion and he was one of my favourites in the books. Overall, it was a clear 5/5.

Wow that was better than I expected, I'd gone on a media blackout so I didn't know what to expect I guess. The characters don't exactly look as I expected them to, (Well more specifically the Stark children, everyone else did) but the story followed much more closely with the books then I thought it would. I'm greatly looking forward to the rest of the season.

    New favorite TV show.

So yeah, 5/5 from me too.

It was quite good I thought, can't wait to see the next episode. The quality you would expect from HBO. I honestly don't know if any other network could pull off this series, but the moment I saw HBO was doing it I knew it would be okay.

Can't wait until it really gets into the swing of things.

Not bad. I enjoyed it but it wasn't the most amazing thing ever -- but then that's how I felt about the books.

I watched it with a friend who hadn't read the books and he had a little trouble keeping up with who was who and what exactly was going on. In hindsight I can easily see how it would make it more difficult to follow/enjoy if you hadn't read the books, but that isn't something they can fix without hurting the pace.

    Looking forward to next week.

I've never read the books and only decided to give it a go after watching the sixteen minute preview a few weeks back on a whim. Having just finished the awesome, awesome, pilot, I'll say it's not too hard to follow at all, and I'm pretty much hooked already. Not sure if I'll dabble into the books or not, but I'll be keeping for the TV Series before anything else, and I don't think I'll regret that. Some solid world-building - the map in the opening credits was helpful in itself - and I like the varied cast of characters - Ned's a good lead, Tyrion was great, Arya's instantly become my favourite Stark sibling, and I'm very much hoping for that smug asshole Viserys to get murdered somewhere along the way. That'll be fun.

So yeah. Digging the soft fantasy background to medieval politics with a dash of HBO-style HBO-ness, and I'm looking forward to next week.

I refuse to pay for HBO, even for this show.

    Therefore, to Pirate Bay!

There is a 720 pt version torrent up for anyone who wants it.

Right now I'm cursing my wireless slow internet.

I am dissapointed at the cast age in the series. I can understand HBO wanting their nudes, but seriously, Sansa and Dayerns look 25 instead of 14/13.

John and Robb also look way to old, losing some of the boyish image they had at the start of the books.

Other than that the pilot was awesome, paying it close to the books. The lanister brother dynamic was fun to watch, and Viserys really make you want to strangle him.

edit: quick google search for actress ages brought me this NSFW link. Gentleman, I give you Sansa.

Dude, the actress who plays Sansa is 15.

The fugly model you linked is not Sansa. Merely a coincidence of name.

Anyway, I'm currently trying to decide whether I should watch this live on TV or just stream it.

Oops? My point still stand with Dayerns and the stark boys though.

I'm glad they aged them up. Two reasons:

    1. Child actors can't act for shit. Just look at the HP movies. Child actors would have ruined the show.

    2. It's more credible watching young adults have to play the role of adults than kids.

Only age related thing that really bugged me was Joffrey. Sansa is supposed to think that 10 year old is the most handsome thing ever?

Her actress is 15 and looks older, 15 year olds don't go for younger guys, they go for your dick of a best friend who is a total jerk to her and you still love her for years even though she only talks to you once every couple months to ask for advice on other guys. WHY!?

I mean... uhhh.. yeah that Joffrey and Sansa, eh?

(Note, although based on true events, this post was meant as a bad joke)

Me and this show= True Love.

    /filler

But yeah. Having watched the premiere, the show, while not looking precisely what was in my mind's eye when I read the books, captures the exact feel of the novels down to a tee.

King's Landing was exactly what I imagined it would look like. The opening credits made me swoon- they were fucking awesome. The collective creative genius behind the program is mindboggling.

I need nothing else on TV, as long as I have Game of Thrones.

DLP, for your consideration, I humbly submit Emilia Clarke:

This show is as awesome as any attempt to televise the books could be. Early days, but if the powers that be do half as well with The Dark Tower as they've done with this...

    Job well done.
