Almost anything would be more awesome than this.

Also WTF at Crowley? Has he already forgotten the reason he fought Lucifer to the end? King or no king he knows for a fact that Lucifer has the power to torture him for all eternity so what does he do? Throw in with the guy that wants to free him! Castiel at least is not vindictive, one death is good enough for him. The Devil however...

For all we know Crowley had a plan to back stab both Angels as well.

Did Rafael actually want to free Lucifer? I thought Rafael and Castiel were in a civil war over individual angels' freedom. Besides, I kinda figure that if Rafael wanted to get anyone out of the Cage, it'd be Michael.

Raphael wanted to get both Michael and Lucifer out of the cage to continue the apocalypse.

His entire purpose was to restore the status quo, things went off the rails when the apocalypse was averted and he wanted to make it happen again by opening the cage and letting Micheal and Lucifer have that rumble they never got around to. The reason he was fighting Castiel in the first place was because Castiel didn't want to let that happen.

This episode's Crowley? I don't know. The fact that he had no defense against Castiel at all makes me wonder what the fuck is going on with him. He picked up the idiot ball and never dropped it.

It isn't like it's *easy* getting weapons that kill angels: Holy oil and angelic swords are the only things I remember. Kinda tough for demons to get those, especially since hell-types don't generally work well together. Weapons that do fall into demonic hands probably are kept close and secret.

Besides, I think Crowley was genuinely taken aback that an angel would break a bargain. I'm sure the talk-to-Raphael backup plan was already in place, but it's possible that Crowley didn't really expect to need it.

The oil isn't easy to get but those swords? Given just how many damn angels they've killed so far in the series everyone should have at least 6 spares laying around. Assuming they weren't dumb enough to just leave them laying there. Angel killing swords are honestly easier to get than a real sword.

This is true. I *suspect* that a holy weapon wouldn't be ... er ... safe for a demonic entity to use. I've been assuming that it would, at least, burn like holy water.

I don't remember the season but isn't their a time when Angels start dying and Castiel (and other angels) suspect that it is the demons who are behind it? And they are being killed by arcangel blade? Although it is an angel who was killing them but they did make that assumption and it is unlikely if demons could not hold it they would have thought that.

Did Crowley know that Raphael wanted to get the apocalypse back on track? He knew that Castiel was fighting Raphael, but I can't remember if he ever said anything about knowing it was more than a power struggle.

Season 4, episode On The Head Of A Pin

Angels were being murdered but they had no clue how it was being done and they suspected demons so they set a trap to catch Alastair. After Sam used mojo to psychically fuck him up Alistair finally spit out that demons had nothing to do with it because Lillith wouldn't have stopped with only seven angels. Castiel found out later Uriel was killing them with his own regular angel blade. Its one of the little plot holes though because they called it the Sword of Lucifer in that episode but in all the rest there was nothing special about it at all. Archangel blades were something entirely different.

All in all, a fucking fantastic finale, but yeah, I too felt that the whole Great Wall of Sam thing was a bit rushed. As someone here said earlier, I hope this has far-reaching consequences for Sam (and no, I don't simply want him to turn evil this time around).

And as much as an idiot Crowley might be in this episode, I never liked him more. He was the only thing that kept my interest going.

Hmm, so this is the new challenge for the brothers eh? They beat the devil, but now they have to face a new God. I have to say, supernatural never ceases to amaze me.

Finally, finally got around to watching the DVR'd dual episode finale.

Totally different than what I was expecting. This whole time Castiel has been slinking further and further into pride and arrogance, the very thing that condemned the *last* guy who rebelled, and it really wasn't much of a surprise given the way Dean has reacted toward him that it finally broke the camels back.

There really isn't much the team can do against Cas. He could mind-screw them before, but now? There's no concealing their thoughts from him at all.

Though this does make me wonder about something from last season: Death said that he would reap even God at the end. Given that we now have *two* contenders for that title, could this be Chuck's way of loopholing himself out of his final days? Technically speaking the job has to be done, but...

I'm pretty sure it was also said that no one could kill an angel but an angel, something that was thrown out when Zachariah got iced.

I'm going to throw out there that just because Cas thinks he's God, that doesn't mean he's on par with Chuck!God. If we take the fact that God is the God of Creation at face value, he's still on a power level that is incalculable by souls.

Is Cas' power level over 9,000? Totally - the dude soaked up "millions and millions" of souls. God is still the being that created the entire universe and the souls that occupy it - he's like at least a Super Saiyan 3...

Yeah but the thing is that's incredibly easy to write off as arrogance even before Dean iced him, both Uriel and Zachariah were among the most fanatical of the "humans are maggots that learned to talk and we fucking rock" camp within the angel ranks. It was kind of obvious Uriel was just an arrogant douchebag who was talking out of his ass.
