About to watch episode 6. It occurs to me, however, that the real purpose of the Renly/Loras scene was not the homosexual relationship, but to establish early on Renly's ambition to be king.

    Just watched, it was awesome.

Tyrion was solid win...period. The scene that involved his gaining freedom from the eryie (?) was wonderfully done - even if it didn't mesh overly with how I pictured it from the book. Still I'm looking forward to seeing more of Bronn, seedy fella like that has so much potential, especially given his relationship with the Imp.

To be honest, the Eyrie (the Eyrie is the castle, the Vale is the kingdom, the Arryns are the rulers of the Vale) was pretty spot on. I imagined the mountains to be higher and the castle to be less, well, palace-like (it's supposed to be a fortress, after all), but aside from that, the interior and the cells, Lysa and her son Robert, those were all perfect.

Bronn's a boss. "You do not fight with honor!" "No, I don't. He did." Loved that in the book, absolutely loved it in the show.

Robert Baratheon's on his hunt with Lancel drugging him up with alcohol, so the first book is truly getting into swing. Gonna be awesome.

You should put that in spoiler tags. Don't want to ruin it for those who haven't read the books.

Anyway, last chapter was awesome. I'm kind of annoyed that hbo decided that the wolves have no part in the plot and cut them out from scenes they should star at (wildlings scene), but I guess it isn't really important...

Aside from that, I enjoyed the whole chapter, especially the fight and crowning scenes - those were done really good.

Yeah, no, kinda. They cut them out of as many scenes as they could because, you know, they're working with real scary, bitey, wolves. Trained, but either way, there's probably something budget-y involved, or something. Sure, they've appeared not as much as anybody would probably like, but I'm cool with their usage so far.

Heh, as a non book reader, I can safely say the Golden Crown was just... epic. Almost felt sorry for the guy. Almost. Fifty-fifty.

Pure class. I think that entire scene was my favourite this episode, along with Tyrion's confessions to the court. "... And I think my sister ate it. And then, once, I took a jackass and a honeycomb into a brothel..."

As far as I know they're not using real wolves, but just dogs that look similar.

Just saw episode 6. I practically jizzed myself at:

In the name of Robert of the House Baratheon, the first of his name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and protector of the realm, I charge you to bring the King's Justice to the false knight Gregor Clegane, and all those who shared in his crimes. I denounce him, and attaint him. I strip him of all ranks and titles, of all lands and holdings, and sentence him to death.

Send a raven to Casterly Rock. Inform Tywin Lannister that he has been summoned to court to answer for the crimes of his bannermen. He will arrive within the fortnight or be branded an enemy of the crown, and a traitor to the realm.

    Eddard Stark. BAMF.

Looking very good, really getting to the good stuff now. Episode 7 was also excellent.

Argh, but now I have to wait an extra week for a new episode.

Is there a way to watch episode seven apart from HBO? Can't seem to find many links that are high quality.

Loved his introduction, and I didn't even like him in the books.

Which are illegal. And it's bad form to mention them in forums and although I can't seem to find the link, DLP has(had?) a rule against any kind of warez talk.

Download them at your own risk, you could get a fine from your ISP.

    on topic: Drogo is awesome.

A fine? That shit actually happens? In any case, I'll refrain from mentioning it.

The rule appears to be missing. I searched for any stickied threads mentioning warez or piracy, but couldn't find the rule. There certainly was a warez rule in the past, though I can't recall if it was ever written down.

If you don't link to specific warez content, don't mention that you possess specific warez content, don't provide instructions to get it, and don't advise people to do it, then I think you'll be alright.

I'm going to call bullshit on that. A big steaming pile of it. There are plenty of problems which piracy can bring, but being fined by your ISP isn't one of them.

On Topic: I've kept away from this show but finally decided to give in and marathoned the first 6 episodes. Game of Thrones is fantastic. I only ever read the first few chapters of the novel, but I'm about to go and dig it up and get reading, because I want to know what happens next.

Maybe I used the wrong word, as fine indicates monetary loss, but I do remember some cases where the isp turned off the internet acess for some people downloading illegal movies via torrent in europe.

Edit: It occured to me that I might be speaking bullshit. So i'm doing a bit of research. I'm actually curious now, as my ISP usualy just slow down people connections

This is going off-topic, so let's drop it.

If you want to look up info on it, then your search terms should be hadopi, three strikes law, graduated response to copyright infringement, and eircom. France, South Korea, New Zealand, and perhaps the UK are the nations that you should focus on.

I got a warning from the federal government for downloading a movie illegally. They sent it in the mail and it pretty much was like DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN. Did I listen? No. I just learned to be more careful and hide my tracks better.

Now, this episode (which I am not admitting if I downloaded it illegally) was awesome. I didn't really find any faults. I did find it weird that the king only hunted with a few people and it was not on horseback. Did they really hunt on foot in the books?

I also visibly winced anytime I saw the open prison. I don't like heights and that is a long way to fall...

    :facepalm ORLY?

Unless you were pirating a movie that is owned by the US federal government, or the US gov is your ISP, then... no, you probably didn't get a copyright infringement notice from them. Perhaps you got a notice from a content provider that was passed on by your ISP and contained some quoted federal law... like this.

No, I don't think it was that (it was a long time ago). I was downloading it from limewire, or something similar. I believe the file was uploaded as bait and I was unlucky as shit and happened to pick that one. It was during a time that many companies were trying to shut down limewire type sites.

You could be right though. All I know is I got caught by someone and was warned but I swear it was the federal government.

    /off topic

Are there 11 or 12 episodes in this season? I was first thinking that they are moving very fast and I was beginning to worry that there would be like an hour of just fighting (which i don't want.). The more I think about what happened in the final 1/3 of the book, the more i realize that tons of shit went down.

How are you guys feeling about the pacing?

Pacing... episode 5 seemed rushed, flat-out. The 6th episode flowed better but still felt like it was covering a lot of ground and jumping around some. The first 4 I thought were done beautifully though.
