You mean, according to your word? ;)

Anyway, I was also wondering if there was any mention about how they age with their looks. How old Dresden will look like when he is about 80 years old?

The Blackstaff is 250+ years old, doesn't look much older than 60. So I can't say with certainty but I am pretty sure that Dresden will stop looking physically older sometime around 30-40 and start physically aging at maybe 1/10th the rate most people go through.

I'm not even LittleChicago and this is starting to get old, just saying.

As for how wizards age, I'm guessing that Dresden will appear late 20s - mid 30s until he gets upwards of 150.

If wizards aged proportionally to their lifespan, Dresden would still have the body of a teenager. Since he complains about getting old, it's probably a safe assumption that magic, for lack of a better word, preserves the body in a close-to-prime state until the magical healing cannot keep up with the aging process.

Essentially, I'm betting they age normally from birth until 25-35, then their body stays that way until 120+.

    Fucking seriously.

    Sigh.

Nothing against Celestin - I like you, dude.

I was going to wait until Ghost Story's publication day to start begging, thinking in some fucked-up, arrogant way it might draw some Google traffic, but can I have my name back? Please?

I looked at the WoG thread and saw Jim Butcher as the latest post. Cue squeeing and rapid thread clicking followed by big fucking letdown.

Mostly what LC (AKA JB) said. Ancient Mai is the oldest (that we know of) and she seems to be, well, OLD. To give another example of standard ages though, we have the following:

Dresden is talking about Morgan in that one. I take "active maturity" to mean "around 50" personally, but I'm not sure.

That one was in reference to McCoy. For some reason I have this idea in my head that McCoy, Injun Joe, and Langtry are all approximately the same age -- though I can't say why I think that. Either way Dresden considers McCoy to be "old."

Another quote in reference to McCoy -- this one from Summer Knight.

So in summary, we have half decent age references on Ancient Mai, McCoy, and Morgan. McCoy is "several centuries" old and considered to be "aging" AKA "old." I get the impression that Ancient Mai is generally considered to be "older than most people live" and is 400+. I don't know how old Morgan actually is, but he had been the WC's executioner for "twenty or thirty years" according to Harry in Turn Coat, so I would put him at under 200 max.

Perhaps that helps with age figuring? XD I have no idea. But those were the ages that came to mind. There's probably some age info on Luccio somewhere too, but I'm not sure. I just recall her mentioning something about the time she grew up in Italy, and you couldn't probably extrapolate an approximate age from that.

Luccio implied she grew up in the early-mid 19th century. There's no hard dates, but that's the feeling I got from small favor and turn coat.

By WOJ Langtry and McCoy fought in the French and Indian War, on opposite sides, when they were young. I'm 99% sure that he also said that Injun Joe and McCoy met during said war as well so it's doesn't seem completely unreasonable that they're around the same age since they're both still around.

And Luccio can barely remember the War of 1812, which would put her at around 1800-06 range for date of birth, depending on how much attention she paid to politics at those ages.

I think that Injun Joe mentions in Turn Coat that he wants to stop Dresden because the last time there was a war and he did nothing his people were killed.

I was just rereading Dead Beat and Harry says that McCoy is the youngest and least powerful (probably excluding Blackstaff powers) member of the Senior Council.

I've just read something that Jim apparently said on one of his signings a few days ago. Spoilers for GS and possible future book:

Butcher has plans for Mirror Mirror universe book. It makes sense since Bob said in GS that there are infinite words out there where even fictional characters can live (which makes many HP crossovers canon compatible). How much fun will be seeing evil Dresden and his friends fighting with whoever is good in this world? :)

Knight of the Cross Nicodemus Archelone with his trusty advisor/trainer Anduriel fighting against Michael Carpenter possessed by insane Uriel? And Vampire Courts protecting mortals from the insane wizards of the White Council? ;)

This is *said* to be a distillation of a Q&A, but take it with a boulder of salt. I've got zero evidence that it's actually true, but it does sound about right, and some of it has been said elsewhere.

I love it when I do a decent job of predicting a future plot element.

    Do want.

Sounds intriguing, but I hope it doesn't slow down writing the Dresden books too much.
