Well the best Fem!Harry fic in existence had her named Jaime. I've also seen her being named Lily, which was sorta confusing, and another with Harper... So not all Rose or Harriet. But to assuage you, I pledge that any fem!Harry I write will have a different name than all of these.

How did this line of conversation come up again? If it starts with wordhammer I wouldn't be shocked, but let's move on. If I think of a bunny in the next few minutes, I'll edit it into here to help that along.

Two plot bunnies from my folder, neither of which are expanded beyond a basic premise.

The first is a quote from a website a while back, that could be the start of an interesting fic, although H/G, so not really DLP style. It is also something I really couldn't ever be bothered to write, so feel free to nick it.

The second is a challenge from someone on ff.net. It's open to everyone (basic premise - Harry and Dragons. Also, he wanted Harry/Amelia and/or /Andromeda).

1 - "Today, Ron," Harry will say, with the newfound air of a man who has seen and done impossibly great things, "is a good day. You, who have been my friend through so much, are now my brother. And your sister is now a woman. Come, let us drink."
2 - Harry has spent since he was about eight as a dragon. The day he ended up on the school roof, he instead teleported to Romania. Then, as he was in a dragon preserve, turned into a dragon for safety. He then spends up until GOF as a dragon, probably a Horntail. First task of GOF is CD, FD, and VK trying to get past this Horntail, as it is unusually clever. Fleur tries to use veela!powers on it, and WHAM. Dragon!Harry becomes normal Harry, albeit rather... amorous. Chaos ensues. One aspect of dragonhood is the alpha pairing - the strongest male mates with the strongest females he can find. As Harry has spent quite some time as a dragon (and fathered some very odd dragonettes), this is his outlook. Now the stronger females of the Hogwarts environs must deal with offerings of nearly dead farm animals, uselessly shiny things, whilst receiving the advances of an overly amorous fourteen year old.

Hell no.

Though the shiny things and dead animal offerings sound quite amusing.

 

Yeah, I saw the challenge, and thought the only way to make it work (without being a twelve year old), was to make it stupidly over the top, and crackish. Hence the shiny things, and what would end up a semi-retarded, rapey Harry (he's been a VERY stong dragon. Of course he gets whichever females he wants.), after the older women. mcgonagall better lock her doors...

Aekiel, I dare you to write it. As outlandish as possible.

 

JKR has a certain naming scheme in place for her characters - I guess that if you really want something to fit in with her world, it'd have to follow a similar (but not exact) line of thought.

I could honestly see a fem!Harry being given a floral name (in keeping tradition with Lily, Petunia, etc. I wouldn't personally be surprised if Lily's mother's name was something cliched like 'Rose!') and there are plenty of ones out there that don't sound too shitty.

Thing is, would 'she' get her father's middle name, like her canon counterpart, or would she be named after someone else, like Lily or a maternal/paternal grandmother?

I dunno. Harry James Potter -> Something Lily(?) Potter.

This is entirely Master of Life: Vigiliance's fault, so don't blame me. Any mention of 'she-who-you'd-rather-not-talk-about' has been ably dodged or diverted. I spun off on Fem!Snape and have been avoiding any femme-slash interpretations for that.

Sounds like you should cross-over Harry the Dragon with Black Dynamite. That should qualify for 'outlandish as possible'.

As in fanon, Harry would be a rare and powerful black dragon. His handler in Romania happened to be a big fan of Shaft and Foxy Brown, so BlackDragonHarry learned to speak from the videos. After he figures out how to reshape as a human, he takes on the guise of his role-models; the solid badass mofo who's there to take what the Man has kept from him- namely, bitches and a sweet ride.

That the repressed witches of Hogwarts fall over themselves for his groove thang is a sign of just how weak his competition is in comparison. Seriously, Cedric Diggory? Snape? Dumbledore?

 

In light of that theoretical multi-author crossover some pages back, I've had some ideas for Lovecraft!Harry on and off for a while now. The general one I seem to go with the most serves to have Harry in the same position as the Summer/Winter Knights, with one of the Great Old One's being the one to enslave him as mortal 'focus' in this realm of reality to do its bidding.

The main lump of that bidding would be to do something about the missing Great Old One's or those who have, for lack of a better term, gone renegade or otherwise engaged in their own separate agendas from that of the original.

It would have involved a fair degree of alien geometry and general skull-fuckery in the places and ways this Harry would have to deal with them, and the resultant battles to subdue them and drag through the outer gates again.

I can't seem to get a solid go of it, though. The nearest was a sub-1000 word mess ending with him becoming one of the G-O-O's, though I've also set up an encounter with Cthulhu vaguely.

 

I have an idea for a fem!Harry/Sirius story. I think I could make it work. It would mirror a number of scenes in HP for a little while, not actually being a full rewrite, before branching off around the fight in the Ministry--book 5 would be too soon for Sirius to die if I want to push the pairing. That's why I was looking for a decent fem!Harry name :awesome

 

No one can have fem!Harry except for Harry.

 

And don't even think of pairing fem!Harry with Ron.

I'll hunt you down and castrate you, if you do.

I've got a story where Harry becomes Fem!Harry; his name stays the same.

I've used Thorn for his sister's name at least once, and Amaranth (which can be shortened to Mara, Amara, or Anthe, any one of which is less offensive than 'Mione) at least once.

I've used Acacia for the name of Pansy's mother at least once. I'd have used it for Pansy's middle name, but that would make her initials PAP, which would be as awful as the people who make Hermione's middle name Anne, never thinking that this would make her initials spell HAG.

And that, I think we can agree, would be even more unfortunate in the magical world than among muggles.

 

I think we're in need of a good Begonia Potter story (There's not much left, JKR took most of the English origin flower names).

 

Not so much a plot bunny as a logistical complication:

The Taboo vs. Potterwatch.

During the seventh book, friends of Potter would run an underground radio broadcast. JKR used it as a take on the WW2 French resistance broadcasts.

So here's the idea:
If one of the broadcasters says 'Voldemort' over the air what happens?

scenario 1: the snatchers know where they're broadcasting from and attack

scenario 2: the snatchers know where they're broadcasting from and also everywhere that someone is listening to the signal; if the Dark Ministry had caught one of the conspirators, he might be Imperiused to to do this as part of a planned 'ferret out the insurgents' attack plan. Snatchers and Death Eaters home in en masse to execute any with dissident leanings.

scenario 3: the whole Taboo detection system goes haywire trying to track the source (temporarily)

I'm not sure which seems most likely, though any of them could be used in a story.

 

Or similar scenario could be used as one time action of the resistance to have a distraction for many DE.
