Sorry to hear that. I thought you had some awesome reason about why the sale price difference didn't matter. <_<

Yeah, the pack was very good value. Brits had it even cheaper than Americans, for once.

Picked up Torchlight, and all I can say that it is an amazing game. I wouldn't have minded buying it for $25. It similar to Diablo 2, but the graphics are more in line with Borderlands. It's made by some of the same people as D2, and it's fairly obvious. The NPC town music is reminiscent of D2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2evIg-aYw8), he game play is very good, so I recommend it.

It's not perfect. It's not D2 so it doesn't feel quite as dark, there's only three classes to choose from, but each one has three specs that change the class quite a bit. Lots of weapons, armors, trinkets, socketables, and they brought back the D1 feature of being able to learn spells from scrolls. Also, you get a pet, which is actually useful. It fights and stuff, and it can even cast spells from the scrolls you teach it as well, but most importantly you can load it up with your gear and tell it to go sell it in town while you keep dungeoning, its very useful.

Perhaps the biggest downside is there is no multiplayer (sequel might have it) but it's balanced nicely for 1 player. I do recommend though, that you don't play it on a difficulty below hard, because gear and skill damage rank up pretty quickly and it's not terribly difficult. Also, the completely randomized 3D dungeons are fairly linear, so you don't have to do much backtracking. It also doesn't have the bugs of Hellgate London, which is always a bonus.

Cthulhu Saves the World has been released! It's at the stupid low price of $2.69 USD on Steam right now.

It's one of those few Xbox indie games that I've been waiting to see arrive on PC. It's an old school 16-bit JRPG parody. You can get the cool trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56fG6fFqubA [If that doesn't sell you, nothing will]. There's a less cool but more PC-oriented trailer on the Steam page.

There's a good review on Joystiq, and plenty more in other places.

Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines is up on Steam for £3.74 (75% off). Dunno if it's on sale elsewhere though.

This weekend is the Kalypso anniversary weekend, where many games from Kalypso Media are down by 66% including games like Darkstar One, Dungeons and Patrician (3 and 4 plus expansion). You can also get a collection of 20 games for € 59.99 or £ 49.99 (no clue about the $ price).

It's worth checking out for people who like some games from Kalypso. The offer ends Monday at 10am Pacific Time.

The only Kalypso game I've played is Tropico 3, and it's quite good. I enjoyed the Ceville demo, but I've got enough point and click adventure games to be going on with from Lucas Arts, Telltale, Size Five Games, and probably others I've forgotten about.

Aside from Tropico 3, it's also worth looking at the two games available for pre-order. They're discounted if you combine them with the Kalypso Anniversary Pack.

Jagged Alliance - Back in Action. Q1, 2012. I never played the originals, but apparently they're remembered fondly by many gamers.

Tropico 4. 2nd Sep 2011. I'm still having fun playing Tropico 3, and I'm not yet looking to upgrade. T4 is fairly cheap though. If it comes with a map editor [sorely missed in T3], I'd pick it up.

Frozen Synapse is 50% off this weekend, so if you're into simultaneous turn-based strategy, I'd recommend buying it.

You get 2 copies of the game for US$12.50.

No news about a map editor till now, but the demo is available since 3 days, could be worth testing.

It turns out that there is a map editor in T4. The info comes from a developer Q&A several weeks ago.

Not so much STEAM related, but tomorrow Notch is getting married(?)

Either way, Minecraft is going 2 for one.

If you buy it outright you now get a gift key.

So basically 2 for 1 minecraft.
