Well, I figured out what I was doing wrong yesterday. I was going too far without leveling enough. Also, I was trying to do it without any followers.

Today I leveled myself up a bit and got Lydia to follow me. Game is no longer impossibly hard. I've even killed a couple giants (though I was just shooting from on top a rock, so it might not count).

Also, Transmutation spell is fucking awesome. You can turn iron ore into silver ore, which you can then turn into gold ore. And the mine you find it in is full of iron deposits.

Man. I pity the fools who use quick travel and the cart.

You find only the most epic shit when free roaming between quest markers. ;)

As a rule, I only use fast travel if I've already taken the journey there by foot, and it's redundant/pointless to walk there. Like quests where you go to Town B from Town A half a map away to talk to someone then backtrack immediately.

But yeah. Found some great loot and cleared more than a couple dungeons just romping around.

I made my cash crop by just doing all the sidequests in Whiterun Hold. You get sent out to most every location in the plains just east of Whiterun, and you get extra gold for completion anyway.

I keep accidentally killing my companions. Lydia went down in Valthiem Keep, where she attacked the bandit chief in a choke point and got it by my fire spells. She kept on attacking the chief until she died (chief massively outclassed her) and I had to just stand there, since I didn't have the targeted heal spell. Goddamn it. Faendal died under similar circumstances in Greymoor. I ended up riding a horse back into Whiterun with over 700 pounds in my backpack. Horses are boss.

And this is why I bought it first thing at Winterhold.

Has anyone come across a good route for selling gear? I can't offload all my stuff, as the merchants keep running out of money.

Awesome game is awesome. Main issue is a hardcore glitch I've come across during the thieves guild.

Haelga's Bunkhouse in Riften. If you do the numbers job for Delvin, you need to alter the ledger there, but it won't let me, and the wuest marker/clarivoyance points me to a box on the first floor.

Anyone run through the Mage College quests? During the Staff of Magnus quest, the shades of the mages weren't saying anything when I came across them after the first two times, and I'm guessing they were supposed to. Anyone know what they said??

I just killed Lydia. On purpose.

Fuck compainions, fuck narrow pathways, and fuck horses too. With a stick. That's sharp. And spiky. And on fire.

    Hard.

You're actually dragging NPC's with you?
Well... I guess they are kind of useful. As cannon fodder.

On a side note, how do I get my horse to stop attacking anything and everything? I go to poke the dragon with my axe, and the horse runs up and starts kicking him in the head. Very annoying.

He's one of your companions. You can have a dog, two summons(at end of conjuration tree iirc), a horse, and a humanoid.

I'd honestly just screw with the summons, or go it solo. It's really not worth it to keep buying a horse just to have it get slaughtered by the random dragon you were so excited to find... and it's more fun to whirlwind around all day, anyway. :awesome

Well, it's not his health I'm worried about. He could stand there kicking the dragon whole day long. I guess I'll just slaughter it and go on foot.

    Also, werewolves are fast.

    Also, extra storage space.:awesome

Now I just need to find me some daedra hearts so I can finish my suit of armor. Daedric+Dragonplate does not look good my friends. Not good at all.

Sounds like an interesting look....my guy currently looks like a shamanistic Dr. Doom. Bitches be fearing my lightning. Getting closer to my goal of dropping a dragon with a single bolt of lightning.

Lydia was actually pretty useful until now. My ghost wolf and Lydia pretty much cleared a cavern full with spiders pretty much on their own. And against dragons, she is rather useful too. The extra storage space is extremely convenient and so far, she didn't do block me once.

Did anyone else have a dragon attack at the Mages College? Dragon went down in a few seconds with every mage there blasting at it :awesome

I find Lydia pretty use full, give her some good weapons and armour and shes a decent tank, also good as a gear to sell mule if your a mage with low stam. My Lydias currently in mixed dwarven and ebony armour with one of those glowing blue swords from the last Mages guild dungeon. Another annoyance I've come across is the enchanting system, can't find anything decent for feet/hands and the enchants you know dont tell you what they can be used on until you try to enchant something.

Atomicwalrus, if the destruction trainer at Winterhold is dead, check out the court mage at Solitude. Definitely a destruction trainer, same level too I think. And as it turns out since I have so little health becoming a werewolf wasn't the best option. Fun, but I died pretty easily. Disappointing since I basically don't doe normally.
