While the Thalmor did effectively win the war against the Empire, they also lost almost all of their soldiers in the Battle of the Red Ring. As for how Skyrim would do, it has the Dovahkiin, who is particularly powerful as a warrior, the Empire is also exhausted from the chaos caused by it's defeat by Ulfric and
the assasination of the Emperor by the Dark Brotherhood
so Skyrim wouldn't have too much of a threat from them, and we've already seen that the Altmer were beaten pretty handily by Hammerfell, so I see no reason why the Nords shouldn't be able to kick their asses.

Of course, the Thalmor could go after Cyrodiil directly, but, well, I'm hoping for a DLC/mod that allows us to rip them to shreds first. :awesome

And the Greybeards, who could do some damage. (not that far into the storyline, so I don't know how much that holds up later on)

I knew that, but its still irritating when even with that artifact you can't open those puzzle doors or any other plot closed doors.

And fuck the Thalmor. I wouldn't care at all about the civil war if I didn't know that the Empire was the best hope against them. Man, I'm beginning to hate all elves but the Dunmer. They're cool.

Dunmer eat horses and ran a massive slave trade until Azura's champion killed their gods and made it possible for the Empire to stop them.

oh Morrowind...where everyone knew you were an outlander, even if you were a dark elf. Not to mention those fucking Camonna Tong, the KKK of the Morrowind world (or the Nords of Skyrim). Now that I think about about, one of the Imperial commanders rewards you for killing a bunch of them in Balmora, even wipes your gigantic bounty clean. So the Empire isn't all bad, even if they do attempt to execute a few innocent people now and again.

Here's a video of the closest thing you can get, without mods, to having a sex life in Skyrim. [link] :3

I tend to play as "good" characters - that is, I rarely if ever kill NPCs that don't attack me. That said, whenever I re-play Morrowind, I always delight in my opportunity to be Balmora's janitor for a day.

The douchbag that wants me to make a bloodbath for him? He's always so disappointed that I get it done completely within the bounds of the law (I provoke them into attacking me first).

Well, fuck him, too, because when I'm doing the writs for the Morag Tong, I have no problem taking out his ass, too.

Speaking of the Morag Tong, I'm peeved that there were no Morags in Oblivion (or in Skyrim, afaik). Some of the writs were a bit flimsy, but the Dark Brotherhood seems more like the international psychopaths' guild, rather than an ancient and sacred guild of legal assassination.

That's because they are a guild of psychopaths, for the most part. I'm not sure why you'd expect any different. There are cultural differences between provinces, you know. ;)

One man's executioner is another man's murderer, and all that.

Okay, so they only opperate in certain parts, and I guess Morrowind was one of them, whilst Cyrodil and Skyrim aren't. Still, I don't mind working for them. I do mind working for the DB.

    About the Morag Tong:
They don't exist anymore. If I remember correctly, it's one of the thieves guilds members who tells you how he is the last Morag Tong alive, as the guild was destroyed.

And Moridin, you make some good points, but I suppose we can't really know as we don't have much knowledge on the current state of the Thalmor army. I still maintain that the Empire would be a threat and that Skyrim couldn't sustain themselves on two fronts, despite having the Dragonborn. The Grey Beards would also refuse to help, as they follow the Way of the Voice.

    Spoiler time:

Parthurnaax (spelling?) wouldn't help either, also because of the Way of the Voice he created, and would try to keep the dragons on his side out of the fight. Additionally, as far as I know guild questlines are not canon. Even if they were, the Emperor's death in Skyrim would mean the Empire would be out for blood, and the war would definitely continue with the full weight of the Legion coming down on the Nords.

Is it odd that it occurred to me at the end that you could use the heads as a sort of sorting method for storing stuff in your house? You could dump the bodies somewhere and neatly stack the heads next to the door, so you could deposit and withdraw stuff quickly and easily. Welp.

Guild questlines are definitely canon, considering a certain Prince of Madness makes passing references to a Fox and a Severed Head (The Grey Fox and that crazy Speaker's mom's head). Lucien also makes a reference to a certain Listener from the past - his protege, in fact.

Paarthurnax isn't necessarily alive at the end of everything, Fatality. As Dovahkiin, it's entirely possible that I chose to kill him and become rightful inheritor of all that was Alduin's. The Dragons could just as easily serve me and destroy the legion as they could wait on the sidelines in loyalty to Paarthurnax. It all depends on your choices.

I used to have the capacity to be surprised at the kinds of things gamers did with their games when they ran out of sidequests. Then I took an arrow to the knee.

Seriously, though, that is some fucked up shit.
