So I just finished the main questline and... I gotta ask, did anybody else think that the story was just.... kinda shit in this? The end battle is hardly climactic, although the atmosphere BEFORE the battle is pretty cool with all this mist and shit (graphics mods might have helped there) and it really didn't feel like you were saving the world. I had the same complaint for the Imperials vs Stormcloaks quest. The final quest in what was a civil war that spanned Skyrim was lackluster. It simply wasn't...epic, as the world of Skyrim is.

Eh. I don't know what I'm trying to say. I've had the best fun of this exploring new places, unlocking new words, completing the side-quests (Daedra quests are always fun). It's been a blast, and it's the best fun I've had in single player I've had in ages. That said, there are just so many parts of the game that I'm disappointed in. The Storyline could have been epic but it wasn't designed really well and there never is any sense of awe when saving the world.

    And that seems wrong.

Definately. I think everyone who finished the main quest was like, "wut." I certainly was. I thought that battle was maybe two thirds into the main questline and I was still heading for some massive world defining battle. Then... I wasn't. The entire game is mind blowingly epic... apart from the end quests to each storyline.

While I agree that most the quests are a bit lackluster in their final act, the Dark Brotherhood line has a pretty good finale.

The problem I have with the Dark Brotherhood questline is the same one I had with it in Oblivion - you are, at the end, left with a Brotherhood in tatters, broken and destroyed. Purchasing a few upgrades like it's a new house you bought relegates it to that status - there should be a whole new epic questline (even Radiant would do) where you establish lairs, eliminate opposition, recruit members. I dunno, from what I've seen of the DB in both games, they are just so much more epic in my head than they ever end up being in the game.

The problem is that the game is called Skyrim, it's a game about killing dragons and showing the world how badass you are, with some add-ons for flavor, it's not Assassin's Creed. If they included what you want it would 1- Be a platent rip-off (of AC and certainly other previous games) and 2- Use waaaaay too much time to make content for a small portion of players.

Speaking of showing how badass we are, I fuckin' love my Two-weapon fighting, heavy armored khajiit with his summoned swords. There is really something about dicing ogres with my (mother-lovin' dragon)soul.

Say what now? Aside from the blatant idiocy of the Assassin's Creed plagiarism bullshit, you went for a Two-Handed, Conjuring, Khajiit?

Be fair to the guy, Aekiel. I hate it when the developer of a vast and immersive game world fills it with a vibrant and realistic series of quests. Having fun totally breaks my immersion.

But dude, what the fuck? You glorify a kittycat dressed in kitchenware with magic toy swords when the conjuring skill is blatantly for armies of zombie. Dead to me bro.

I dunno about the Dark Brotherhood, I did sort of think they were disappointing, in questline length particularly. The Thieves' Guild, on the other hand, I found really awesome. The rebuilding of their influence in Skyrim is pretty damn cool, and something I think they should have implemented similarly for the Dark Brotherhood.

And on that note: The Ritual Stone. The prospective Necromancer's wet dream.

I fucking love using that on my mage, I could be outnumbered and low on magic right now or that could be pussy talk while I get out my zombie horde.

Am I the only one having trouble getting dragons to actually fight me? They just circle in the air above and, being a melee character, it's getting really annoying. I try to hit them with bow and arrow, but that doesn't work.

Also, are there any useful shouts? The only shout I found useful so far increases your attack speed, but not when using enchanted weapons, which sucks.

Really? Find some open ground and it'll land to come take a bite at you eventually. You can also take it down to half health with bow + arrows so that it crashes. Eventually you get a Shout that can force them to land too.

Well yeah if your actually willing to explore a bit there are fuck tons of them. You can get a massive slow time, one that massively lowers enemy armor and poisons them at the same time, breathe fire, breathe ice, call down massive lightning strikes, theres one thats basically a blink effect, you can call animal backup, theres one that makes you invincible to a degree for a while and one to just remove enemy weapons along with a pile of others including some stupidly powerful ones as part of the main quest line. To be honest not finding useful shouts is laziness more than anything else, they are out there if your willing to put a little bit of time towards looking.

New 1.3 patch is out for PCs. Fixes what 1.2 broke, and so far I haven't heard about it breaking anything new. Also, apparently the next patch is going to make the game Large Address Aware.

As much as I try I can not care about the main quest. I'm not even that far into it. I just can't care. It might be because I'm not really equipped to kill dragons, but meh. (haven't even got to the throat of the world yet)

Did enjoy the dark brotherhood however, and the thieves guild a bit less so. I stick by 'this game is twenty times more fun without direction' thing.

Is anyone else finding that they can't stand any of the cities apart from Whiterun? I mean not only do they look shitty, some of them seem to offer nothing in terms of vendors or goods at first glance.Seriously, I've pretty much parked in Whiterun smithing and enchanting and making a buttload of money without really wanting or needing to go anywhere else because it has the best balance in vendors. Is it just me or is there something wrong here?

I like the College in Winterhold, Riften and Whiterun. Also while I don't particularly enjoy them I have fond memories of Makarth and Rorikstead thanks to the Sanguine quest which is just fucking hilarious.

Whiterun is nice, but I love Riften. It's an amazing city that I can become the unofficial king of rather quickly.

Speaking of the Sanguine quest I always thought that would make a kick ass comedy fic, just a fic of completely random crazy shit that the Dragonborn and Sanguine get up to across Skyrim and beyond. I mean you know the Daedric Prince of Debauchery has to make for one hell of a good drinking buddy.
