You know, the least whoever made that picture could do is try to update it a little from when it was made fifteen years ago. I mean, "car phone"? Really? And the Friends reference is so dated that I doubt the current target audience even gets it.

Didn't even realise it was a Friends reference until you pointed it out.

    What am I looking at?

And does anyone else see the skull-like bit near bottom left? It caught my eye before anything else.

I think I see what you mean with the skull. It appears to be an oblique view of a grinning skull, if I'm seeing the same thing as you.

Anyway, I saw this in a NG magazine a couple months back, and if I'm not mistaken, this is less earthporn than it is "scars humanity is leaving on the planet." I don't have the magazine anymore (I pass along all the NG, Smithsonian and other nerdmags to my dad), but I seem to recall the story was about mining in Africa and the cost to the land.

Might be wrong, but that lake looks like it's full of brackish or mineral-laden water and not suitable for anything but dissolving corpses. I mean, is that a beach or a ring of fire??

EDIT @ Oz: Well. I feel sheepish.

    Original source.

It had never 'clicked' just how big sharks could be, and then I saw this.

That's really cool, but it's a bit of a page stretcher.

I am both saddened and gladdened that I do not live in a world that still has those.

That's fucking awesome, I love snakes. Is it real? If it is, what kind of snake is it?

A long nosed whip snake. Also, they can self-inflate. Because snakes are awesome like that.

Now imagine someone using that as a belt... while it's still alive.

All of them were beautiful, some stunning. My favorite was 19and 2. Just something about that lightning.

The leopard in number forty five is terrifying, the guy who was following it must have balls of steel. It looks like Satan lost his housecat.
