Wow, that's really shaping up nicely. So many new and big reveals. I wonder who the two new Admirals are... the marines lost a lot of excellent fighters that were so strong, that I doubt the pacifistas could adequately replace them.

Also, Blackbeard's power seems to be a lot more powerful than imagined.

Aokiji and Akainu. That would have been a fucking awesome fight. Akainu in charge means the marines become more threatening, but on the other hand Aokiji might turn his coat and help out the pirates. Not really surprised about Blackbeard, but hunting for devil fruits is pretty worrying.

Looking forward to the new chapters very heavily. Should be awesome as fuck.

TBH, I could easily see Naruto doing something like this. A country/island/city being oppressed and forced to accept unreasonable demands - Naruto would be all up in that shit.

Fucking dissapointed that we didn't get to see the fight of the Admirals.

Also, completely dissapointed and unimpressed by Big Mom's people, and Big Mom herself. Despite that, things are getting more interesting than they were for a long time.

 

Not seen enough of Big Mom to say anything concrete yet but Luffy is a boss.

Naruto would have tried to solve this shit with hugs and understanding while clearly violence and brutal beat-downs are needed.

Well, the plot does seem to be picking up.. Fishman Island Arc was kind of a disappointment, with the whole SH crew taking down the revolution so easily. Big Mom.. can't say anything yet.

 

You know, I've made several attempts to get into the One Piece anime/manga, but every time I wind up getting turned off by the childish art style and slapstick comedy shenanigans that're so prevalent these days. Could someone try to pin down what differentiates this from every other shonen manga?

 

You think Naruto would declare something his turf? I very much doubt that.

It has a real sense of emotion. When you read those other manga, you can appreciate how the characters might be feeling, but in One Piece you really feel it. Also the characters are bright and interesting, the fights are cooler and more involving and personally I find the humour to be pretty funny, rare in manga where it's either 'haha' puns or strange japanese humour.

I used to feel the same way, but the increasing crappiness of the other jump manga made me realize what a gem One Piece actually is.

 

I'd also say that the art style that apparently turns you off gets much better later on. If I compare how the latest chapters look compared to for example the first one, there's a really really big notable difference. To the better.
