Ehh its just too easy to do that, the only time I ever enjoyed using magic during a purge was from a magic mod. It gives you this spell called Meteor Storm and god damn was it fun. I got up to the highest point I could and just unleashed while cackling a maniac. I called in Dremora as well and it was like the Apocalypse, explosions everywhere, people screaming while they burned and tripping over their charred relatives corpse while my Dremora stalked the streets brutally executing everyone he saw.

It was so beautiful it nearly brought a tear to my eye.

So the Creation Kit is out now.

Also, Steam has Skyrim on sale for 33% off, if you want it but haven't gotten around to getting it yet.

Some ideas for DLC that the guys at Bethesda are throwing around:

    Spears
    Kill cams for magic
    Water arrows
    Giant mud crabs
    Paralysis runes
    Seasonal foliage
    Speedy water currents
    Dragon mounts
    Dark dungeons
    Adoption of children
    Advanced home building
    Epic new mounts
    Fast travel portals
    Kinect dragon shouts
    Enhanced water visuals
    Ice and fire arrows
    Lycanthrope perk tree
    Vampire imp minions
    Goblins

It's stressed that these are just ideas and it's likely the majority won't see the light of day in terms of being released but the fact that they are being discussed is still pretty awesome.

    EDIT: Source

Eh, I still think a lot of those should have been implemented in the game prior to its release. Bethesda is getting lazy, taking its cues from the modding community rather than trying to imagine and implement features themselves.

I never got why the dungeons are day-glo bright when there's nothing that'd explain why they are. It kind of pisses me off. Unless there's flourescent flora, it's open to the sky, or there's actual artificial lighting of some kind, you should /NEED/ lighting. Like, ten feet in, can't see shit, captain. Hell, even if only a third of the dungeons were that way, I'd be happy-- I don't want to always be locked in to worrying about light, but it'd be a nice change of pace from time to time.

It's important to note that these weren't really just DLC ideas. Todd Howard gave the studio one week after Skyrim was released to do with whatever they wanted to the game, and those were the results. It is true though that they said in an interview they might be included in DLC - but a lot probably won't be. The reason being technical limitations on consoles.

That mostly applies to the things like seasonal textures, footprints in snow, ambient occlusion, etc. Possibly things like dragon mounts too, and the LOD issues it would bring.

Good news for PC owners though: it is possible for all those things to be modded in. And Bethesda employees only needed a week to do it, so considering some of the talent in the modding community, it should happen soon.

Edit: Come back after a while to see Jon posted the video above. I need to learn to refresh before I post...

I've always thought this, going back to Morrowind where I got bored with it before I finished it, to Oblivion where, when I stopped playing it not too long after it's release, I had something like 100 mods instealled. Skyrim is alright by itself vanilla, but too much of the world is empty and over too fast. Most of my mods are in the form of UI, graphical improvements, and minor tweaks. But after seeing the awesome shit they threw together in a week... what the fuck. Release that shit now, and stop half assing your work.

Well let me rephrase that to be more fair. On a game like Skyrim they've got rigid schedules and it's design by committee style. They should let a few guys just throw out wild ass ideas like this stuff in this video, which honestly, there wasn't anything in there that was insane. All of that could have been seemlessly integrated. But make a team just for thinking outside of a rigid design doc and let them work, don't rely on your modders to fix and improve you game because your financial backers won't give you another 5,000 to balance something, or to make the game more fun.

=( I agree with you about the modding community, the shit we'll see will make that video look like nothing. Give it a year, we'll have a totally different game.

It's good and bad. Good in that you can actually see where you're going without having to switch your shield for a torch (unless you're a Khajit with night vision), bad in that it breaks immersion and is unrealistic.

At any rate, you can fix it with the realistic lighting mod (Realistic Lighting without Post Processing, I think is what it's called), which makes the dungeons pretty damn dark, and makes the nights darker as well. Only thing is that the latest release doesn't work with the Khajit night vision racial skill. I updated and went into a dungeon, hit night vision and got stuck with a black screen, even after I deactivated night vision. Could still move and all, but couldn't see anything.

This, so much. They have some amazingly skilled and creative people working at Bethesda, and its time they put it to some good use. Imitating how the modding community works - the whole add whatever you want, how you want it - is a brilliant idea. Hopefully from people's reactions to what they showed, they might do this again in their next release. Although actually implementing their ideas this time.

Well, while I agree with you that it'd be a pain in the ass, that's more because of the relative lack of fighting on the overland. No use having a shield if you're only going to use it a third of the time, tops.

Then again, easily a third (probably half, to be honest) of the dungeons in Skyrim have a /reason/ to be lit up... It's not quite Oblivion anymore.

Anyway, thanks for the mod rec, didn't know there was a Skyrim version.

Realistic lighting is a good mod but as a pre-warning it makes shit dark indoors to the point where you'll barely be able to play without endlessly spamming the light spells so you can keep your hands free for gear. There really needs to be a permanent light spell.

Is there a way to add the workshop to like the library, or to access it from the game's info page, instead of having to search in communities for it, or having to open it in the browser via bookmark?

Er, it already is in the games info page?

What does your page look like? This is mine. See the steam workshop thing with the browse workshop button underneath.

Edit: Deleted the image because it was too big for page. Here is a link to it instead. http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n407/H3Crimson/steam.jpg

I reinstalled Skyrim today and it appears like that now. I think maybe I had a jacked up page because I had the pirate version launching as a nonsteam game originally, then just copy/pasted the files into the steamapps folder or something. Either way, I see it now, thanks.

Hey, have any of you guys had this problem with the Dark Brotherhood quest To Kill an Empire? It won't start at all for me and I can't figure out how in the Hell to fix it. Using the console on PC doesn't do anything and reloading a save changes nothing.
