When Voldemort dies in the Deathly Hallows, Death decides that Voldemort is too dangerous to be allowed to die. At the same time he understands that Voldemort can't remain alive either, so what does he do? Why charge Harry Potter as keeper of Voldemort's soul.

This would be a one shot where Harry, knowing that he keeping the most evil soul of the time in his body; decides to fake his death for the safety of others. A bit like Coming Back Late but it would end at Harry's funeral with him in the background and him leaving everything behind.

Not exactly a good plot for a long story, but I think as a one shot it could work quite well.

What exactly does "too dangerous to die" mean?

And again how is Harry the keeper of his soul? Is it stuck in him like the scarcrux? Or does he keep it in a bottle or something?

It might be interesting with Harry seeing his friends for the last time and him trying to keep what happened a secret.

Obviously Voldemort would live in an emu puppet. The two of them would eke out a living as children's entertainers, with Harry obliviating the crowd every time Tom tried to kill a member of the audience.

    ^What he said.

I think that since it's only going to be a oneshot you might be able to get away with being very vague on the practical aspects of it. Focus more on the character interactions and Harry's thought processes as he decides that he has to fake his own death.

It's better to give no explanation then to give a shitty one that will make people stop reading.

So just say it's stored somewhere in Harry or a place only Harry can access and leave it at that?

Well, it's already fantasy so I don't see why not use scientific myths in it. :p

    Yeah, that'll do.

Also, you never answered what "too dangerous to die" means. Is it that he'd be able to come back or is it that he isn't allowed in the afterlife?

Simple. Voldemort's soul was crystalized into what is called a soulstone, and in his attempt to contain it Harry jams it into his forehead.

    ...oh wait.

Did I just get poorly insulted...?

    Ouch.

But seriously, if you're going to do something like this, and you're not an exceptionally talented writer, so much fail will occur. And to be honest, I wouldn't see it being a great idea even if a brilliant writer did it.

Nah Duderino, he's just phrasing in a confusing way that politicians should use more.
