Even a force of 40 skilled wizards willing and capable of using the unforgivables would be extremely dangerous. I like to think there are more than that, at least when you consider the ones under the imperius curse so I don't mind if the author doesn't follow canon there.

I don't think even the Auror force exceeds 100. (Movies kinda fucked it up)

Most of the people in wizarding world are old.

Meh, my pet peeve is the simple spells like "Stupefy" and "Reducto" are able to take out fully trained Wizards.

The only spells Voldemort slinging out are the Three Unforgivables.

Well, in a quick battle where you're attempting to subdue the opponent, not kill them, Stupefy seems like the best option. The simplest things are often the most useful.

Reducto on the other hand, according to HPWiki, was only used to indirectly attack or distract enemies. It does say that Luna ended up breaking Ginny's ankle after trying to defend them, but I don't have the book on hand to check what exactly happened. But I'd imagine it would work because that's what it does, it destroys.

Of course you need to vary things a bit, just shielding and launching stunning spells and reductor curses at people would be pretty easy to fight against. Boring to read as well I'd imagine.

That's something that always got me actually. I was always under the impression that a reductor curse wouldn't actually cause any kind of explosion, but confringo would, so when authors use it as an explosive weapon, it always baffles me.

It isn't so much a static effect in canon. During the DA, a Reductor Curse reduces a table to dust, whereas Harry used it in the Third Task to blast a hole in the hedge, and it was used in the DoM to destroy the shelves of Prophecies.

The effect of the curse is destructive, not so much an idea of explosion, but of general "destruction" of an object. So a Reductor probably wouldn't blow something up, but would certainly shatter something or punch a hole in it.

I always picture the Reductor Curse as normally around the strength of a strong kick, though obviously you have variation from this.

With that in mind, a Reductor to the head could definitely cause serious damage.

I always thought the Reductor curse just reduced things into smaller bits. It was like taking a hammer and smashing something into little pieces, just without the hammer part. and the better it was cast the smaller the pieces were. So someone who was really good with it would be able to use it to reduce things to dust.

Although I never thought it could be used as a weapon.

Edit: DLP obviously agrees with me, it posted it twice for emphasis.

There's something that I cannot believe isn't in this thread yet.

When people mean to say: "I resent that comment/accusation/claim!"

But instead write: "I resemble that comment/accusation/claim!"

Drives me up the fucking wall.

As previously stated, it's a joke often attributed to Groucho Marx. Although I think my favorite rendition is by Foghorn Leghorn.

Author's notes in the middle of a story.

'Notes that are an entire chapter.

Chapters that are -roughly- around just three hundred words, with author's notes padding out an extra two hundred.

People asking for directions on the story, such as what pairings they want; it usually indicates that they have no clue on what to do after they've got their 'bunny' on word, and are just trying to be attention whores.

Holding back chapters until a certain amount of reviews are posted. "I'm not posting the next chapter until I get at least 5 reviews!"

Go die in a fire, fucking attention-seeking cunts.

...More like you've developed actual taste/common sense, compared to the dregs who live exclusively on FFn.
