And now I'm picturing a tank filled with salt, worn on the back, with a flexible tube ending in a trumpet shape like a flamethrower...

In any interview for supernatural has anyone ever addressed the fact that Sam and Dean have no problem killing demon hosts. Nowadays its just dagger them and move on, I don't get it for me its why I think made demons scary, that you had to capture them then do an exorcism.

They've long since justified it in their mind that all peoplee possessed by demons are gonna die anyway, due to them having a habit of riding the bodies into the ground, with lack of sleep, food, constant abuse via inhuman stunts and shit. Like jumping out of buildings, etc. It's usually the demon itself that is holding the body together by the end.

I remember wondering what would happen if they had to fight a possessed woman who was pregnant. At the time (a few years ago), it was a good question - they would have really tried to save her or at least the baby. Now, it would be - splash with holy water, club across the back of the head, cut the throat.
Maybe drink a little more than usual for a while.

After Dean came back from hell he really understood what demons were. The only reason he didn't kill Ruby is that Sam protected her. We all know exactly how well that worked out.

    Edited to add:
I'm pretty sure I remember Castiel assuring them that an innocent soul would be free of the demon's taint and would be judged on the victim's own actions and decisions. *Knowing* that the possessed person isn't damned probably makes it a lot easier to be ruthlessly efficient.

Huh that actually makes sense. I guess the hosts would also be psychologically scarred after going through all the crap that demons get up to.

As Jon said they have some bullshit justification, but they are really bad about this. Not too long ago this came up in this thread. Sam literally killed a demon possessing the body of his childhood friend because he could. The demon wasn't a threat, sending him back to hell would be worse than whatever Sam would do to him, yet Sam killed him and the host. While Dean just watched. I can only put it down to insanity caused by the coming apocalypse.

Well, their version of heaven is pretty bad ass.

Maybe they think that they are doing them a favor?

Again, justified by the fact the moment he left the body the body would die.

Does no one remember Meg from season 1?

I'm not all that upset at it really. Demons seem to go back to hell and come back with ease, might as well end their existence, especially when the only benefit to exorcism is the hosts life, which seems to be a gamble.

It actually seems like demons might kill their host on purpose with a 3 story fall just so they can get the last laugh in.

Decent, if slightly predictable episode. Guest stars did a pretty good job I thought, hope to see the survivor again this season or next season as a regular.

The episode wasn't great, but the guest stars did well enough to keep me entertained.

Michael was pretty good and Kate was brilliant, but it seems kind of stupid of them to make an episode with so little Sam and Dean and put it at the beginning of the season.

    This WoG is supposed to
seal the demon gates to earth
, why not simply throw demons straight into purgatory and be done with them all. I wonder how witches would be affected by the lack of demons to give them power, would they switch to the old gods? If all the doors are closed, it means that the two angels stuck in the cage will be trapped no matter what.
DO we ever know what happened to the half demon child jesse?
Dick threatened to wipe out all demons, could that be possible?
SAy the demons hunted the leviathons, they would have hid, but needed to hide, so wanna bet instead of humans the fed on monsters. They are the competition after all.

I hated the last episode. I hope they won't make a paradocument ever again.

About the "guest stars". Was I supposed to recognize someone?

Well. Lots of character development. The entire story of Benny and the girl worked pretty well. Was I the only one who was taken aback at how *young* the master seemed to be?

I liked the Purgatory fight scenes, the way Dean and Benny and later Cas started to work as a team.

I guess I should stop being pissed off at Sam. He's always wanted out, I guess this time he just gave up on even trying to get Dean back. After that, the settle down thing was predictable.

Figured it was a shot at Edward & Twilight. Benny's been pretty awesome thus far, imo. Hell, Dean's story so far has been more awesome than Sam's continually recycled "I want to be normal" schtick.

Girl moment: Benny is really getting more attractive by the moment for me. And his accent...

Meh, Sam not trying to get to Dean still seems massively OOC for me. I mean when Dean's died before he has cutoff contact with everyone else including Bobby and essentially adopted a death wish putting himself into more dangerous hunting situations. This happened both in season 3 episode 11 when Dean died in that time loop episode and Sam spent months alone before being sent back in time by Gabriel/the Trickster as well as between the time season 3 ended and season 4 began. You also had Sam trying to make a deal with a crossroads demon to try to trade places with Dean who was doomed to die that year. This time he has every reason to believe Dean's still alive but seemingly doesn't give a shit.

I completely blame the writers on this one, they could have at least shown him as being devastated emotionally and spiritually after losing Dean(if they had to have him give up on finding him), Bobby, and sharing head space with Lucifer for the majority of the season not to mention the time he was locked up with him and Michael. Instead he swears off hunting and just stumbles around seemingly apathetic about everything before pursuing the first pretty face he's in close proximity to. They're even doing a poor job of showing that he cares about her. He snuck off in the middle of the night without telling her goodbye and hasn't tried to contact her to at least give her some sense of closure. Honestly I can't see them going much of anywhere with that story arc and I don't understand why they'd even put it in.

In contrast I've been enjoying everything to do with Dean and Benny this season. Benny's been slightly making up for my favorite character in the show being dead now and at this point I'd happily take more episodes featuring him rather than Sam.

    P.S. RIP Bobby

Although I was surprised at how easy they took out the vampire's "nest". Didn't Benny have trouble fighting off even three of them when he got all injured, and suddenly he's some ninja vampire with slow-mo reaction skills? And how easily did the vamp boss die?

So, has anyone been watching the new episodes? The whole thing with the Men of Letters seems cool. I wonder if the Thule Society is going to be a recurring thing?

If me replying like this after 30 days is bad let me know so I don't do it again. Thanks
