I've heard that there isn't going to be a release on the PS3 (for any DLC) because Playstation/Sony dropped the contract after Bethesda honored Microsoft's exclusivity shit. No clue if it's true or not, but it sucks for you PS3 gamers if it is.

Personally, I'm thinking 360 is still betaing it for everyone, and PC will get it in another month or so. PS3 will get all of it at once with the GOTY version.

It's Sony's own damn fault for making the PS3 so hard to program for. It's nice when you want to go truly next gen with your console, it really is, but when you basically code it from scratch, using a process only your people in-house fully understand, you shouldn't be surprised when second and third parties look at it like it's an organic crystal resonance flux capacitor.

The only people who can program for the PS3 besides Sony are Naughty Dog. You'll note that every game of value on the PS3 is from them, with the exception of Infamous, which is from Sucker Punch.

Everything else is forgettable at best. It's because Sony screwed themselves over by making the system damn near impossible to program for.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were holding back the PC update to drop the PC and PS3 versions at once. The problem is, it's taken them this long, and they still haven't even gotten Dawnguard. If they're waiting on Dragonborn for the PS3, PC users aren't going to get Dragonborn until fucking July. Of 2014.

So I was replaying Morrowind, because I was feeling nostalgic for the days when a rampaging warrior can swing a longsword at a mudcrab eighteen times and miss the first seventeen, and I found something that made me stop.

I found something that not only makes me wonder just how fucking far Bethesda has things planned ahead, but something that also sheds some really interesting light on Skyrim.

Remember Wulf? He gives you the Old Man's Lucky Coin in Ghostfence. He's also a manifestation of Tiber Septim, aka Talos of Atmora, the Ninth Divine. Accepting the coin gives you a new power, Luck of the Emperor, which boosts luck by 20 points for 120 seconds.

You probably remember him, if you're a completionist like me.

But do you remember what it is he says to you? Because I didn't remember exactly what it was he said, until I went and talked to him again.

"The Emperor is getting old. Don't know how much longer he'll hang around. So is the whole Empire, for that matter. Getting old, that is. The Emperor and the legions have held the Empire together for hundreds of years. It's been a good thing, by and large. But maybe it's time to change. Time for something young and new. What? No idea. Because I'm old. Old dog doesn't get new ideas. But maybe young folks like you should try some new ideas. I don't know. Could be messy. But change is never pretty."

Talos didn't just call the Oblivion Crisis and the assassination of the Emperor. He called the Civil War and the Thalmor. He saw all of this coming. And somebody wrote that in for him. Back when MORROWIND was a thing.

You'll also note something else that's interesting. Talos doesn't pick a side. He doesn't say the Empire needs to die. He also doesn't say it needs to be supported, either. He freely admits that it's up to "young folks like you" to decide.

So Talos supports your actions in Skyrim no matter which side you choose, even if you choose to not believe in him at all. And when he appeared, it wasn't as a young warrior, or as a mighty dragonslayer like how the Nords like to think of him.

He was a wise old man with white hair, who didn't have all the answers, but wished that he did, because he knew how apocalyptically important the questions are. He came as Odin, not as Thor.

Yeah, I started a new Morrowind game last night, but the lack of voice acting irks me something fierce now. Also, I know some people don't use it on principle, but I much prefer the quest compass. When I'm doing a quest, I don't want to waste ages just trying to figure out where the hell I'm supposed to go. Not to mention that some parts of Morrowind (i.e. Vivec) are confusing to navigate. And yeah, combat at low levels blows. Still, I'll probably persevere since the storyline is pretty awesome. And it's real nice to be able to craft my own spells again.

The Skywind mod project will be awesome when it's finished. The best of both Morrowind and Skyrim combined. Hell yes.

I was going to say that there are mods to fix pretty much all of that except for the voice acting one, but you're probably aware of that.

There are a couple of combat system overhauls for Morrowind, and some of them aren't just good, but fairly necessary. It is, for instance, almost impossible to be a mage, because magic doesn't naturally regenerate unless you sleep or consume potions to restore it, and there's the infamous 'miss chance' built into attacking that essentially requires a moderately high level just to actually hit anything.

Mod that shit, and don't look back. Or wait for them to mod Morrowind into Skyrim, either or.

I checked it out a short time ago. Very impressive, compared to the vanilla game at least. Installation was easy too, and it's modular enough so if you don't like certain things you can elect not to use them or change them to something different, as long as it doesn't conflict with something else. Takes up a lot of space though -- vanilla Morrowind is less than 1 GB I think, with this mod it was more like 8 GB.

Well if it's anything like I heard Morroblivion was, it'll be buggy as fuck to the point where it'll be impossible for a lot of people to even finish it. At least it will look pretty though.

Yeah, I'm using this at the moment at the highest settings possible and it looks pretty damn good.

Am currently installing Morroblivion (and it's a pain in the ass). Hopefully it's not too buggy. I'm hoping that at least the main quest will work, and that I can then continue along in Oblivion with the Nerevarine as my character. From what I understand, Tribunal and Bloodmoon are definitely still buggy as hell, unfortunately.

Finally, a release date (the latest blog entry).

A shame we won't have it this month, but the first week of February is soon enough in my books.

Twenty bucks says they've been sitting on the PC version for at least a month, and the release is staged purely for the PS3s benefit.

Also, standing invitation. If anyone has any questions about the content when it drops, feel free to ask. I'm not the only consolefag here, and I'd be happy to help regardless.
