There's one fan theory that Rose will be a part of this season because there have been roses in each episode so far (haven't checked) seems a little weak.

My friends theory is that this season will end with
The Doctor going to visit River to say goodbye after she has been trapped in the library at the end of Silence in the Library, bringing that arc in a full circle.

Spoilered because apparently he got some very odd looks/comments after sharing that with some of his mates who've read the scripts for the upcoming episodes.

Yes, hopefully we can end this River plot. It was promising but then fell to annoying and now, as of the half-season break irrelevant.

    Also, you need to water-board your friend. For Who :);
I've always found this very annoying. I get that DW is watched by kids and so a little affirmation and confidence is not bad but it's just silly to me. The only thing I can say is that the new show was honest about this from the beginning the Ninth Doctor was either calling humans monkeys or performing fellatio on them.

Best episode this season although it looks like next episode will be better.

That was brilliant. The last ten minutes or so...arguably a little rushed, I suppose, but other than that I can't really find fault with it. Loved the birth to death scene, and JLC really sold it.

This writer needs to be hired on more often. Holy shit. That ep was amazing.

His second of the series, the first being Rings of Akhaten (well, strictly speaking he wrote this one first, but still). Hide was infinitely better though.

I enjoyed the episode, but I didn't think it was amazing. Very good, but not on the level of some of the episodes Stephen Moffat wrote early on.

This ep was okay. I thought Rings of Akhaten was much better, even with its 'Super Screwdriver' failures.

Who else is waiting tirelessly for the Neil Gaiman episode? Since, you know, "the Doctor's Wife" was one of the best episodes.

EDIT: regarding the last episode's title:

Will we finally get an answer to "Silence will fall when the question is asked?"

    Yep.

I'm also intrigued by the last episode of the series, because it seems that it's going to be a trip to Trenzalore.

If that's the case, then the Fall of the Eleventh is presumably going to be a bit more metaphorical than literal, given that he's going to be in the 50th special.

It was a nice episode, if I was a kiddy I'd have been pretty spooked I reckon. I'm exited for next week, I hope the visuals of the inside of the Tardis live up to the hype, it would be a shame if we got repeating corridors like in the Gaimen episode.

Just saw today's ep live and had a lot of fun watching.

Does anyone else think the Doctor’s name is the key to the Time Lock on The Time War?

That would make an awful lot of sense. Although if that is the case, it seems a shame to waste it on just another episode
although equally, whatever the secret is, it seems a waste not to have his name and the secret about it as the focus of the 50th special, but hey ho

With regard to tonight's episode, I enjoyed it. Lots of cool stuff, and some intriguing hints towards the wider plot arc
Anyone else think that the 'time rift' looked suspiciously like the cracks from series 5?

That said, it wasn't anything special. And while I wouldn't normally criticise a show for not achieving special status every week, if you're going to devote an episode to the centre of an infinitely sized, Escher-esque living space/time ship, you'd think there'd be more of an effort to make it memorable. A few key sequences aside, it wasn't memorable at all.

This article gives a few hints as to what we're in for and the bit about how The Doctor has met Clara more than three times makes me want to rewatch the series just to see any mention of her.

That's one of the most common theories out there actually: that the Doctor had to speak his true name to activate the Moment, and that speaking it again will reverse the effect.

I'm really hoping the Time War will be unlocked (at least in part) at the end of this series. The show needs a new overarching plot stimulus.

Can't put my finger on it but I just really don't like the new companion, whether it's the seemingly endless love/attraction angle the writers seemingly HAVE to take whenever it's just the Doctor + random female companion or just, well, bad writing, I cannot get on with her at all. I'd still argue River's more annoying though.

Overall I've felt like the return has been fairly weak, last week was probably the best episode since the return, hopefully things will pick up as we head towards the special in November and I have my fingers crossed for the Cybermen episode in a fortnight. Next week looks rather promising, much prefer when we seem to go backwards in time rather than forwards.

In this most recent episode, about 15 seconds before Clara gets to the Tardis Library, she runs by a large room with a giant gun-like contraption as its centerpiece.

I squealed like a little girl when I saw it, because I'm 90% sure this was supposed to be 'The Moment', the super-modified de-mat gun the Doctor used to end the Time War.

Edit: FML never mind. It's the stupid telescope thing from the Tooth and Claw episode.

    Fucking hell, Moffat.

Really? Clara is shaping up to be the best companion of NU who, at least for me. Mainly because out of all of them she seems to be the most(I don't have a right word for it but I'll go with) human.

I think she is one of the few people who have portrayed how a human been thrust into things beyond their wildest imaginations, pretty well. Plus she listens to the Doctor and just for that I love her for it.

Maybe it was just the script for the last two episodes but she really proved herself to me.
