Literally nothing in Westeros can touch him once he develops powers. Not dragons, not a gigantic icicle, not anything. Doesn't seem like a story with much potential conflict.

That's why it would be a short story that happens when he is still developing his powers. At his full power Prime can do pretty much anything he wants to, including changing the reality by punching it. ;)

When SBP got his powers, he was wearing a superman costume, wasn't he? And Superman and his powers were known at the time, as he was a rather famous comic character.

Work something out with that - Clark only gets his powers gradually, and he doesn't know how he gets them each time. Maybe he develops flight at one point, and it's because of the large amount of feathers decorating/making up his clothing. He doesn't get laser vision until he sees a dragon breathe fire. He'd still be overpowered as anything, but at least it wouldn't be an instant catapult.

    EDIT

I mean, he gets his powers through some sort of association with something that displays a similar thing, but only at certain points - if he isn't doing/watching anything at the time the event occurs, he doesn't get anything.

That's pretty much given. Clark can't use powers that he is not aware of having.

    Clark was angry.

If he could reach the dragon, he would make this Targaryen bitch pay for what she did to his army. But no. They were flying over his head, just out of his reach even if he tried to jump using his powers and kept trying to burn him with a dragon fire.

It didn't hurt him too much as long as he avoided direct hits. One time he didn't, it melted his armor and give him some serious burns that fortunately healed few minutes later.

"Stupid dragons. If I could only fly," he muttered to himself.

Then he felt his feet leaving the ground.

    "What-"

    He was floating in air.

"Heh," Clark smiled to himself. "Now I will kill you to death."

I don't like Superman for being Gary stue. Thats all.

Superman was a Gary Stu before it was populer. Hipster Superman.

If you really think he's a Gary Stu then you haven't read any of the good Superman comics.

EDIT: Actually I just came across a post in /co/ that summarizes Superman pretty well:

Because of that, the best Superman stories are, largely, the self-contained stories rather than the ongoing main continuity stories.

The problem with Superman is that most writers don't understand what he is about. He is not about being relatable like Spider-Man or Invincible is. Or about being our badass selfs like Batman or Wolverine is. He is about giving us an example of how we should be. Superman works best as the ultimate role model.

A good example of that is Superman from fan comics called JL8. It may be a kid version of the character, but the author has better understanding of what he is about than most DC writers.

All-Star Superman is pretty much the modern Superman comic. There's quite a few good other runs, but that's what I always suggest and/or loan out to friends who think that Superman is boring

Actually yeah, I can get behind that. The comic's an interesting take on things. I liked "Robin."

All-Star Superman is great, but I would be wary about recommending it to people who aren't very familiar with Superman or the Silver Age. The whole thing is like Morrison's big love letter to the ridiculously over the top Silver Age Superman. I'd stress that people focus on Superman's character rather than power levels and weird technology while reading it.

What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way? is a good one for those "Superman's not dark enough" whiners. Kingdom Come is another one in almost (but not quite) the same vein, though that's one that focuses on the DCU as a whole with Superman as a focal character.

I actually think What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way is a pretty bad story. Mostly because you've got what are very obviously grey issues being forced into a black and white morality, "villains" which are just caricatures, and a moral which really comes down to "the strongest guy makes the rules."

Kingdom Come is a solid tale, but you do want to have somewhat of a background in the DCU in order to really understand it. Really, most people know of Superman from crazy Silver Age exploits, and the good modern Superman tales haven't even really focused on him. He's just a hero who is really, really easy to do poorly and that shows in how the general public tends to view him as a character. Hence why I just suggest Allstar, as you can get into it with no real background, it's a great story, and it captures the essence of what makes Superman tick.

First of all, one the whole superman thing, all I'll say is that I agree w/ Black Mage's opinion. (And on Lex Luthor too,)

Anyway, story Idea. Having been playing Dragon Age for a couple of days, since Poytin's (failed/abandoned) playthrough got me wanting to play it again, I thought of this.

So, it's apparently canon that all the origins happen, the only difference being where Duncan is at the time. Wherever he's not, is basically screwed over, because in all the origins, he saves you ass from being imprisoned/put to death. Except one. The Mage Origin is the only Origin in which the character could potentially survive. (If he had gone to First Enchanter Irving, to tell him about Jowan's plan)

Quick question, am I the only one who finds something wrong with that? Every origin has the potential to become one of the greatest heroes Thedas has ever seen, and none of em and can get out of the situation they landed themselves in?

Anyway, back on topic. So, the Mage has just been caught leaving the Phylactery Chamber w/ Jowan and his lady friend. My question now is, what does he do after? Logic dictates that he stays at The Tower, and and most likely dies during the Blood mage revolt. What i was thinking, was to basically just write about how that happens. What does this newly Harrowed Mage do? As noted before, all the Origins have the potential to be great, and I think he Main Character would be able to survive, and maybe even stop the whole thing.

I might have made that overly complicated, but tl;dr, Mage Origin, No Duncan to recruit him, has to survive Blood Mage Revolt. It'd probably be short, a Horror/Survival kind of fic. Of course, it does have potential to change canon a lot, so who knows.

This is bringing up an old argument, but Mab would destroy superman. So would any other powerful magic user. One of Superman's biggest weaknesses is magic. A regular fire wouldn't do shit to him, but a magical flame would burn him like any other person. So Mab being one of the strongest magical beings around would smash him into tiny little pieces.

Magic was introduced as a weakness because Silver Age Superman (who I was talking about the entire time) was too powerful. Moreover, the exact nature of that weakness varies with different authors. However, if by magical flame you mean a flame produced by magic, no, under most authors that wouldn't do jack shit to Superman. Fire is fire, whether it is produced by magic or not is of no consequence.

As I stated before, when you have a being who can survive a supernova, travel backwards through time to erase any mistake, fly many times faster than the speed of light (meaning he can punch you in the face faster than can see him even with your eyes wide open), carry multiple planets from one location to another at the same time, break through dimensional boundaries, etc, etc, etc, weaknesses have to be invented in order to create conflict.

Debatable. It was in the book that had the Shedd Aquarium fight, but Dresden explained that even though magical fire is brought up with magic, it still is just fire (more specifically, it acts like regular fire; the point in question was about how unnaturally contained the fire was). I haven't read the comics, but is he affected by anything that is brought about through magic, or just magic itself? If the latter, unless it is explicitly magical--that is, only can exist through magic; i.e., force spells--I would say that it wouldn't affect him. If the former, then Superman is only really a danger to mundanes--even the Alphas would be able to take him down (magical wolves).

But yes, Mab would kick his ass three ways to Sunday.

EDIT for mortalalone: First paragraph is true, as I mentioned above.

Barring some kind of intervention like another magic user empowering him (though they'd probably have to be an Archangel or something to counter Mab) or other godmode hax like The Ultimate Silver-Age "Powers Out The Ass" Superman, yeah, she could do him in. Magic isn't often brought up as something that can bypass Superman's defenses, in my experience, but it's there. A particular example I can think of was Wonder Woman's sword being able to cut him in Kingdom Come.

As for the magical fire thing, maybe if you just conjure it and let it fly it doesn't count, but if you can conjure it and control it, it might? Or maybe Soulfire could injure him too.

If we use Dresden's standard fuego spell as a base, I'd say regular: wouldn't work. Hellfire/soulfire enhanced: would. And forzare as a force-based spell (which is brought about solely by magical energy and will) would. Although the force spell would snap him in half (having no defense to it), so if we want to stay true to the character, it would take something more than that to hurt him.

People often think that his vulnerability to magic means instant win for magic users. It doesn't. While it can hurt him more, his powers still let him shrug off most of its destructive effect. Example - he was once pierced by magical weapons of some Elder Gods and was able to keep fighting till he found a way to defeat them.

Anyway, something more on the topic.

After his parents are killed in Greyjoy Rebellion, the last heir of House Wayne, Bruce, swears a revenge on anyone that was involved in it. He manages to join mysterious League of Shadows to get a combat training that will let him achieve his goals. Years later, when he is almost finished with a preparation for his revenge and long since he lost his soul in the process, he discovers that it was all for nothing because many of his enemies died in the recently started game of thrones and more will soon follow.

When he is thinking what to do with his meaningless existence, he meets a young girl who just like him all these years ago and just as ready to give away her life for a revenge.

Will the Bat, as he is known now, be able to save Arya Stark from not only Faceless Men that are part of League, but also from herself?

That'd be interesting. I think they might've done a few "medieval Batman" stories before that someone could draw inspiration from, but I can't remember if I actually read any of them.

I'd prefer it if he were still like Batman, at least in spirit. I don't know if he even could still have a no-kill rule in Westeros, but I'd want to see him trying to improve things just like he does with Gotham. Like I said in the "Prince Who Was Promised" thread, I'm all for Game of Thrones/ASoIaF fics that try to actually improve things in Westeros. Stories that would just perpetuate the same violence and oppression we see in canon would just leave me disinterested. It's hard enough for me to keep interested in the books the way things have gone.

The problem is that it's Westeros and killing is a norm there. That's why this version of Batman wouldn't stop himself from killing these prisoners when he was tested by League. He would become one of them. But since he lives for revenge, you take it from him and he becomes nobody. That is his turning point and meeting Arya is a push in a direction of the redemption.

After that you can give him no-kill rule as his way to show that he is not an assassin anymore though it wouldn't be easy for him to keep it that way because League would send other members after him. The Cat, a murderous thief and his old love. The Scarecrow, an expert with deadly toxins. The Joker, who may be a member of League, but usually does whatever he likes to do. And the Bane, the assassin of the assassins.

So bad plot bunny that's not leaving me alone and keeps growing. Basically, a Multi-crossover, w/ a couple universes merged and edited to fit together, and 1 or two people from their own Manga-verse. I'm imagining it as a series, and it takes some prior idea I've thought of and mashes em together.

Book 1 Would be a Naruto/Fsn cross, in which Naruto has been (Shoddily) trained by Zelretch. Zelretch basically leaves him in FSN-verse during the Holy Grail War, and Naruto is chosen as a master. (Note that as he's forma different universe, I don't think he'd be able to use his justu, as the Magical Rules of the Naruto-world are not inscribed on FSN

That would be more of a necessary prologue to explain naruto's presence and get the Grail war out of the way.

Books 2, 3 and 4 would further cross into the Code geass verse, which has been meshed and merged with FSN (So it's technically been the universe since book 1, it was just never required to expand to it. I guess i could have some throw away lines in Book 1 about tensions rising within the EU and and Brittania's relationship w/ japan.

Each book would focus on a different protagonist (Lelouch, who is a first generation Magus, Naruto who can't use most of his Jutsu because of aforementioned, and Shirou, who'll most likely be going around saving people.)

Finally, Book 5 starts after Lelouch's successful rebellion and goes into Sword Art Online.

So basically I'm mashing this shit together and fucking over canon plot royally. If I very get any of this off the ground, i expect it to either be horrible, or a long ass undertaking.
