That said they are, in fact, canon. Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, James/Lily, Arthur/Molly where the marriage is perfect and amazing, Ginny and James before either had even entered puberty and Ron/Hermione barely into it and the last all it took was a crush/use of a love potion and then they lived perfectly well.

As for soul bounds, Voldemort and Harry are linked by souls therefore a soul bound.

 

Except you know, Fleur is described as being well-versed in cleaning and household charms as well as marrying a Weasley. Both are things that people from affluent/politically powerful families are unlikely to do.

 

I think it comes from people thinking that "Delacour" just HAS to mean that her father is the modern day version of royalty in some way.

Personally, I think it's crap. It's why I wrote the father as being a step below the equivalent of the head of DMLE, but in a department that is more background legal/intelligence type work, and made the family upper middle class, which I think goes just about exactly right with that level of power in a government.

This one is a bit odd... but I really hate it when people include "no slash" in the summary. When I'm not using people's Favorite lists to find potentially interesting stories/authors, I use Filtered Fanfiction and I tend to filter out the word "slash". So, if any het fic has anything with the word "slash" in the summary, the search engine skips over it even though the actual content might be what I am looking for. It's rather ironically self-defeating.

 

It goes both ways. Slash has now become so common in the HP fandom that most authors don't lab their stories as slash. I actually look for 'no slash' in a summary just so I know for sure that the story I just clicked on won't turn out to be a slash fic halfway through.

Either way you do it; avoiding slash fic garbage is impossible. Half the time het fics turn out horribly bad do to teenage writers attempting to write about something they know very little about.

 

Then it's not actually slash.
