TL;DR of the FAQ: they are a money sink for completionists, and a good way to make a few bucks playing games and selling them for people who don't care about aesthetics of your Steam account. If you ever got hooked on ccg in your youth, just stay far, far away. If you have one or two games you really like, it might be worth it for you, but if you are the slightest bit OCD, stay away.

Buy the emotes and backgrounds you like, sell the cards. You will make money and have the dumb funny things without the hassle of spending real money.

    Skyrim's up tomorrow.

In other news, I've actually had the systems guy in the office ban the Steam homepage entirely until August. Principally on account of what it's doing to my wallet when I'm supposed to be saving.

I've only seen a handful of games I'm interested in tbh, and mostly small indy studios it seems. My gaming tastes have become... hipsterish.

Oh? There's an app for that. Steam on iOS and Android is super useful because you can chat with folks, buy games, and more importantly, never escape Steam sales.

Go! Download! Your wallet wants to be free!

I just took the hard drive that had all my steam stuff on it and used it to upgrade my PS3, now if I want to install steam it will take more than clicking the installer since it keeps looking for that missing drive.

It's worked perfectly so far, haven't spent a dime.

Just Cause is $0.27 http://store.steampowered.com/app/6880/ Reviews basically say that the second one is a lot better. But it is only $.27 so you should get it if you haven't played either game.

Edit: And it is back to 66% off. I'd just get Just Cause 2 when it goes back to 80% off.

The answer to "Why should I buy Just Cause?" is not that it was 66 or 80% off.

The answer is, "Just 'cause." :p

    *Ahem*

I don't know how good the original is; I bought the 'Just Cause Collection' and have only installed Just Cause 2.

The reason I bought it was because Middy's review of the sequel tipped the scales for me (Thanks, Middy). :D It sounded like fun, and it is. Most of that revolves around the grappler, which I understand is much different from the one in the first game.

I've barely done any missions because I've had too much fun causing grappler-aided Chaos.

If Saints Row: The Third had the Just Cause 2 grappler and stunt jump system, it could very well be the perfect game.

Borderlands 2, Dishonored, or Tomb Raider? I'm only buying one of them.

For anyone unaware, this is Encore Day. The last day of the Summer Sale. There's little more than twelve hours to go.

Borderlands 2 and Dishonored are both great games. Dishonored kind of reminds me of Deus Ex, as in its a stealth action rpg, and the story is pretty decent. BL2 revolves around loot. It depends what you want.

Get some dlc too though. Dunwall City Trials has some fun sections and is really cheap, and I have heard good things about the Knife of Dunwall expansion. As for BL2 you basically should only get the story dlcs, everything else is pretty much cosmetic. But the season pass is more expensive than the parts. So get the four dlcs and the ultimate vault hunter pack separately. You will want all five dlcs.

If any of you liked Mario Kart 64 or Crash Bandicoot Racing on the PSX, then take a look at Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. It's only $7.49 for the next 10 hours.

    Full controller support
    Big picture mode
Singleplayer, Multiplayer, Local Co-op [4 player split screen]

The main story is extremely bare-bones and full of cliches, but the setting is interesting and they give you the means to learn more about it through journals and such like in Bioshock. As for gameplay, it seemed like most of the magical abilities you got could only really be used to their full extent in combat, and if you go around in combat and kill everyone you get the bad ending. While it makes sense that more deaths make things worse (more bodies for the rats, more rats breed, plague gets worse, etc.), it seems wrong for the game to punish you for using everything given to you. Still, just playing stealthily can be fun too.

    I haven't played Dishonored.

Tomb Raider is a beautiful game, if your PC has the guts to run it with all (or even most) of the eye candy turned on. I'm not going to lie, though, it will crash on you; if at no other time, then at least when you try to exit the game.

I'm not sure about the re-playability factor. Not counting the time I've had it on pause while doing other stuff, I've played it about seven hours or so, and I'm probably fairly close to finishing the game - and that's with me having found virtually all of the hidden items, too. I don't do 'speed-runs.'

Borderlands 2 is just plain awesome. Whether you do multiplayer or not, there are tons of hours of enjoyment, there. The main plot can be both funny, heartfelt, and irritating, for all the right reasons. Handsome Jack is a villain you'll love to hate.

There are a lot of things to collect. You have four classes to play as, with a pair of inexpensive DLCs bringing the total up to six - and the Mechromancer class is awesome.

The Season Pass campaigns each add several hours of gameplay, multiplied by the number of classes.

Also, explosions, corrosion, electrocution, decapitation, burning, slag, trucks that throw explosive barrels, colossal killer insects, hey, this assault rifle fires grenades instead of bullets, robots are fun to kill, kill, "Killing bad guys is always fun!", Tiny Tina, turrets, "E-tech is friggin' dope!", "What do my SMG and the villain have in common? They're both a Hyperion Bitch.", That guy's shield is covered in angry midgets, asoiufhf bcoFD! eRr0rrRrrrr.

But I suppose you could always wait for them to come out with a Game of The Year version with the campaigns included... if they do. :|

If you can watch the "Wimoweh" trailer without wanting the game, Borderlands 2 may not be for you... just like fun, logic, value for your dollar...

Oh, and if anyone has a Bioshock and/or Torchlight trading card they don't need, I'd be happy to take it off their hands. Trying to get something off the marketplace on my internet connection is like trying to lift a house with my bare hands.
